Just when you thought the unfunny insanity of Trump could not reach more vertiginous depths, Trump has expressed interest in being the next Pope, and Lindsey Graham has tweeted encouragingly that the cardinals in the conclave should keep an open mind about the possibility.

I’m guessing that Trump’s intent here is merely to ruffle feathers.

It’s weird, though, considering that few - if any - of his usual target audience would be bothered by this, but I’d expect that at least a handful of Catholics within his Base might find it to be a touch disrespectful.

It is also completely bonkers. In the midst of stripping us of our Constitutional rights and installing the framework of a police state, he is talking about how he would be interested in being pope.

He won’t resign. Matter of fact, he has plans to sell MAGA bling and gold statuettes of himself at the Vatican gift shop.

He’ll also be replacing the holy water in the entrance font of the local Catholic churches with orange Koolaid.

Don't give him a second thought. He's destroyed every venture he's ever put his hand to so it's only a matter of time until the bottom falls out on the Pope idea. Also the MAGA hat clashes with the Papal vestments so there is that, too. Then again it's Italy. Maybe he can get Papal Couture.

I’ve been saying that he would make a fine emperor of Mars. Now we just need to send him there. We’ll put all of the effort he puts into everything into keeping him safe. I promise.
