Kilmar Abrego Garcia is back

Post by Jersey Girl »

I can't get behind the CNN paywall to read about it and I can't see the whole thing on IG or copy it but he's apparently being indicted on charges for...I don't know. I heard but snippet on FOX but failed to pay attention. Please fill in the blanks if you've got the information and does it all look legit to you? I can't go looking around for it right now so I'm outright asking you guys to do my homework for me.

Thanks if you are willing. And if you've got a link, I'll read it. I really want to follow his case.

Thank you, Bret. So...additionally they're trying to entirely smear Mr. Garcia with allegations that weren't even in the warrant.

Fine with me.

Due process forthcoming.

Thanks again for the link.

AG Pam Bondi may present testimony that Senor Garcia was in league with Godzilla and intended to hook the white populace of Alabama on heroin. Both Marjorie Taylor Greene and Mike Johnson could testify to the truthfulness of this information or whatever else Mrs. Bondi cooks up.

Could there be any clearer indication than that that they are just trying to find anything they can to accuse Señor García of, even if they just have to invent it?
No precept or claim is more suspect or more likely to be false than one that can only be supported by invoking the claim of Divine authority for it--no matter who or what claims such authority.

Do you believe that Garcia is a good law abiding person worthy of US citizenship? Or is this just about due process and if guilty of crimes so be it?

A lot of folks believe that the current President cannot meet that criteria. : D

"... just about due process"? You make that sound trivial.

But "due process" is not a small matter. It is an ancient right in the Anglo-Saxon legal tradition adhered to by the Founding Fathers of the US constitution, and it goes right back to when King John was forced to sign Magna Carta in 1216, when he promised, among many other things, that "(39) No free man shall be seized or imprisoned, or stripped of his rights or possessions, or outlawed or exiled, or deprived of his standing in any other way, nor will we proceed with force against him, or send others to do so, except by the lawful judgement of his equals or by the law of the land."

In other words, the king cannot just do stuff to you because "every body knows you are guilty". You have the right to a trial, however guilty you may be thought to be. Why? Because if the state is allowed to use its coercive powers just because it wants to, none of us is safe in the long run.

It is not trivial at all, it was a question.

Garcia got due process according to the constitution. He was ordered to be deported via due process. He received asylum via due process. And he was deported via an act within the constitution, and now he is being brought back and charged via due process.

My questions remains to Gunnar.

So far, the right to due process is the overridingly relevant issue. Like any other person within U.S. jurisdiction, García is constitutionally guaranteed due process and the right of habeas corpus, no matter whether or not he is a U.S. citizen or a legally documented resident. If he is legally proven to be guilty of crimes by a legitimate trial, he can be appropriately sentenced and punished. I have no way of knowing at this point how law abiding or worthy of citizenship he may or may not be.
