I wanted to share this short video from Cory Booker's channel but didn't know what to title the thread.

Springsteen has been commenting on the current situation during his recent concerts. This is a little different, a short video with commentary. I say he's not wrong. I'm very thankful that I live out in the sticks where I can take a break from things as I need to while at the same time trying to keep tabs on what's going on in the country and the world. I might add to this thread later. Doing my best to stay unplugged and engage detox mode. Healthy balance and all that jazz.

Run time just over 2 minutes.

Thank you Bruce Springsteen. op: estreetnation

(Just heard a breaking news report on the television downstairs. Not good news. It'll come up on the board if you guys haven't gotten hold of it already. See why we need to unplug and detox, friends?)

Just gonna share what it's like here right now. Every summer our property turns into a nursery. We've only seen one fawn this year so far but plenty of Mama's passing through looking for a free meal. Our flowers are gorgeous in front of the house. Planting Salvia in the front beds were the best thing I ever did. Perenniels that just shoot up on their own. Haven't watered them even once...and they're amazing!

When it's hot during the day, I've been keeping busy with my ongoing forever project that never quits...decluttering this place down to simplify even more. Gathered up some good books to take to the little library about 1/2 mile from here. Some folks built it on their property and it's so cool!

Wild turkey calling earlier today from what we call the "back forty" where the Boy has some of his cars parked. He found a dead young fox across the fence the other day, contacted the neighbor to see if they were home and offered to take care of it if they were visiting elsewhere.

Our community just started summer concerts in the park. It's not really a park. But it's right downtown...one traffic light, gas station, two little shops, the feed store,a bistro, coupla historical buildings and another little library. How's that for a thriving metropolis? ;)

The other day a neighbor reported little piggies on the loose. Apparently new young one's got off another property. People out here are all the time looking out for each other's pets, livestock, and also sending news around about wildlife. I freaking love it here! <3

Friends as you're consuming the news, please don't forget to shut it off and get away from it. Your world isn't in DC (unless it actually is) it's just outside your door. Get out, soak up some sun, breathe in fresh air,and look up!

Create your own joy!

He doesn't get enough credit for his poetic offerings that is for sure and he IS a poet. I appreciated where he said there were no family photos of them enjoying time together.

I'm glad you went outside. Was just out while the sun was going down...2 does walking the property. There's a spot with bushes and that's usually where they stash the babies while they're out grazing. Earlier I threw some strawberries to a doe that came up to the house. We're not supposed to do that, I know. It might even be against the law around here but what can I say? The strawberries were going to end up in the trash...and the nursing Mama's love their sweet treats!

I'll try to get a photo up here of the flower bed in front. Not much success with posting pics lately. Maybe I can create a different kind of thread than the usual political that we've got going non-stop around here. It gets old and it's not good for our collective spirits.

I disagree. All those touchy-feely photos of other Presidents playing with their families were nothing more than photo ops. Trump just isn't bothering to stage such spectacles.

Besides, why should I care what a president does or doesn't do with his family during his down-time? Or what pets he does or doesn't have? It has no effect on anyone whatsoever.

Because a person's attitude towards their own family can bear a significant relation with their behaviour in a more public context. It is a useful, though of course not infallible, clue in forming a judgment of their overall moral character.

I'd say refusing to trot out one's family for photo ops during vacation time is more honest than doing the opposite.
