Crockett vs Talarico Senate Debate

I just watched a debate between James Talarico and Jasmine Crockett for the office of U.S. Senate from Texas. They are both near the top of my list for favorite politicians! Both of them share my ethical and political ideals and I can't think of any think of any politicians who excel them in either honesty, ethical integrity or competence. Both of them expressed excellent points, and, if I were a Texan, I would unhesitatingly vote for whichever one of them wins in the Texas primary. Hopefully the primary winner turns out to be one most likely to win in the Midterm election in November.

My only misgiving about their candidacies is that only one of them can be elected this year because they are both running for the U.S. Senate. I wish that one of them were running for Senator and the other were running for the House or that both of them were running for the House in their respective districts. Crockett is already in the House of Representatives, and would probably be a shoe in for reelection, whereas winning the race for Senate is somewhat more of a long shot for either one of them. If both of them were running for a seat in the House, they would probably both win, as both of them have a proven record of winning elections in their home districts. If one of them wins the Senate seat this time, I hope the other one gets a good shot at it the next time the other U.S. Senate seat for Texas is on the ballot.

Yeah, it’s unfortunate to have strong candidates running for the same seat. On the other hand, it makes for a more healthy primary process.
