I love hearing people make assertions about the god they've assumed. It tells me nothing about the purported supernatural realm, but it tells me something they value and a little bit about their personality.

Vengeful people believe in a vengeful god. Jealous people believe in a jealous god. Homophobic people believe in a homophobic god. Accepting people believe in an accepting god. And so on and so on. I've never heard anyone say something like, "I know god wants us to accept immigrants, but I can't buy into that." A person's god always agrees with the person who created it.

Getting people to describe their god is the ultimate Rorschach test.

As to the sentiment expressed, it's a nice thought, but again, it just tells me what that person believes about people and nothing about an actual supernatural entity.

I meant to say something like this about both Jersey Girl and Gunnar. The quote resonates with both of them, and they both have always struck me as above average decent.

The quote resonates with me too (especially lately). But now that I typed that, it makes me sound like I'm bragging, given that I'm claiming it's a reflection of character. I could just delete it before hitting "submit..."

Obviously, whether that quote resonates with someone reflects on their conception of what a believable god necessarily ought to be, which is an indication of their own character and what they choose to believe.
