If I recall correctly he was honored at the inauguration by being made the official escort to Kamala Harris. No doubt a suitable award will come the way of this officer and a number of his colleagues in time.

You know I must've missed that he served as escort. Yes, I hope the officers do receive recognition (including posthumously for Officer Sicknick) beyond the faceless/nameless media coverage they've been given. They were sorely outnumbered on Jan 6th and they did their level best to defend the Capitol.

Any and all Republican Senators who vote to acquit Trump for the monumental atrocity of inciting this riot are all abject cowards and/or so irredeemably corrupt that they should never be permitted to hold any kind of public office again! Trump, himself, thoroughly deserves to be indicted and convicted for both treason and murder! I don't think it is at all hyperbolic to characterize all who still support trump, despite knowing what happened on Jan 6, 2021 because of Trump's incitement, as traitors to their country!

If you all check this link, there is footage of Officer Goodman again directing Mitt Romney to run the other way. No doubt he saved Romney from assault and possible death. These are additional security camera scenes we've never seen.

If the GOP senators do not vote to convict, they should be charged with breaching their oath and dereliction of duty, because “F” them.

I have to say again how impressed I am with the work of Officer Eugene Goodman. He faced off the crowd 1:god knows how many and even though my own life wasn't in jeopardy that day, I feel a strong sense of gratitude, admiration, and respect for his courage and determination to do his damn job when the then so-called President was sitting his fat ass at home watching it on TV without lifting so much as a finger to stop the violence.

I'll be going with you, my ass.

Amazed at the juxtaposition between Goodman's bravery and Trump's total sniveling cowardice. You can't miss it unless you are completely blind.

If they don't vote to convict they are NOT doing their job, they are NOT serving their country nor the citizens of this country, they are NOT upholding their oath and they are NOT morally or mentally competent. How can anyone in their right mind look at those videos, listen to the testimonies, and deny that guilt isn't staring them right in the face?

Here is the thing. This is how damned stupid they are. They're afraid of Trump and losing his base. Remember when Trump told that governor or mayor that he had to dominate the people? Trump doesn't dominate. Trump blusters and gets other people to do his dirty work. Trump ain't nothing but a chicken punk who has failed at every venture he's ever set out to take on up to and including ACTING the role of President. He's history. His back is up against the wall and he can't even get a decent attorney to represent him because he's radioactive.

As for losing his base. Those people will never do that again en masse and why? Because there is no one in the GOP with the charisma of Trump so there's no one ready OR able to whip up the base to begin with. The Republican party lost 30-140K members last year. Depends on who you are listening to. And if the GOP had any sense at all (which they don't) they'd roll right over Trump and create a new agenda of inclusion to attract new Republicans to replace or bring back in those members they lost during the Trump diaspora. Thousands upon thousands of people just like me, beat it the hell out of the party because it became the party of crackpottery and violence.

But they likely won't and why is that? Because like I said, they're damned stupid, that's why. They're afraid of something that isn't real and they're willing to sacrifice any semblance of sanity or integrity for it, and do it in full public view! They don't have 2 damned lobes to rub together between them to come up with a functioning brain and keep in mind that many of them are attorneys themselves! How sad is that?
