But, you’re right about the alignment of some QAnon-ers into the GME saga as part of ‘The Plan ©’. I checked out GA last night to see what the Trumpsters are saying about all of this, and sure enough, they’re pitching the GME saga as another front in their secret takeover plan, with Trump supposedly leading an underground fight to destroy the hedge funds that are oppressing them (lol, right - the guy that has pawned off over a billion dollars of his own tax shenanigans onto the shoulders of his voters, and who is the exemplar of the financial manipulation, privilege and chicanery that they supposedly abhor).

The gang over at GA is now ruminating how all of this comes together to help install Trump, and how DOGE coin and a silver squeeze are part of ‘The Plan ®’

I suppose that one can fit any event into ‘The Plan TM’, given that nothing about that plan actually pans out as predicted. Why would this be different?

It still amazes me that a substantial portion of the Republican electorate still believes in and supports this obvious gangster and/or Russian asset. I think by now it is less a matter of actually believing in him than a stubborn reluctance to admit to having been so thoroughly duped.

What matters is a substantial portion of the GOP sincerely believes Democrats represent real evil in the forms of abortion and socialism. Those are sincerely held beliefs that, over the course of four years, gave rise to the idea that Democrats would do anything to get rid of Trump while Trump was effectively combating both of those supposed evils. So, emotionally they sincerely feel the truth is on their side where the most egregious efforts of the former President to overturn the election were justified by four years of what they perceived as unjust Democrat attempts to have him removed from office even as he was doing what they believe was a good job. And even while I agree the facts are on the side of Trump being an existential threat to democracy, it's also apparent that there is no shortage of people who feel emotionally the truth is on the side where Trump is an absolute evil as well, setting up a conflict of emotional truths rather than actual facts and honest dialog. Felt truths are terrible. They make holocausts, Mountain Meadows, and Jan. 6th possible. When ones truth is felt that person has baked in the potential to abandon all principles in the defense of that truth because a felt truth has built in righteousness that intellectual truth simply can't obtain.

We are living in a reality where what we experience is derived from beliefs as detached from fact as can be, and it's getting worse every new day. Oingo Boingo captures the vibe well. Nuclear extinction translates into societal implosion better than I would have predicted. Either way, we have a didactic conflict seen as cosmic in scale with apocalyptic potential.

Yeah, I'm not getting any indications from my right-wing associates that they believe the election was stolen. But they give the whole thing a free pass, because they are terrified of socialism. Basically, they have to win to prevent socialism, and no cost is too high.
