Do you guys know if Mission Presidents are paid as well? My MP was said to be very wealthy in his past life, but the way he spent the money over those three years it makes me wonder.
And when the confederates saw Jackson standing fearless as a stone wall the army of Northern Virginia took courage and drove the federal army off their land.

In our mission, the mission president's expenses were paid out of mission funds. I believe there was a set amount that was considered a "stipend" for non-mission related expenses. I could ask my companion (now exmo as well) who was the financial secretary when I was in the office.

Does anyone know of a GA's itinerary being made public. You could probably get an idea of how much is spent on them per week by knowing what all they'e doing.
Of course, then you have to figure in all the X-factors:
First class, business, or coach.
Hotel suite, double, or single bed.
Gourmet or continental breakfast.
Boxers or briefs or....nevermind

I think this is one of the main reasons the books aren't open. Our leaders don't want us to know how much money they're actually taking from the church coffers. They don't want the members to know how much Pres Hinckley's apartment costs or who got the contract to build the conference center (and how that company is related to the GA's).
And as long as the members keep paying, our leaders fear no accountability. And why should they? They get rich on the backs of the poor, and we let them. We LET them. They sell God, and we LET them. They pervert the word, and we LET them.

Hi Harmony, "We LET them." Is there a choice? Suggestions?
Visiting different churches while in Florida, i find it common practice to find on their Sunday Bulletin stats of last-week: # in attendance at each service--usually 3, they accomodate traditional and contemporary patrons--AND the amount of money collected at each. Also their anual financial balance at the time, in the black or in the red... Such integrity and transparency blew me away!!
I think LDSism has a lot to learn from these more progressive--and successful--churches. But...i guess...how can perfection learn from imperfection, eh? When ya knows it all... Roger

As I recall (I don't have a direct source at this time, stupid being at work) but the President of the Corporation of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints is given the "President Apartment" in SLC. . . worth, if memory serves, 1.5 million dollars.
I could be wrong about the value, but I know it was somewhere between $750,000 and 2 million.
