One of my favorite lines ever:
Hope - it's the quintessential human delusion - simultaneously the source of {our} greatest strength, and {our} greatest weakness.
Precisely! And just think how many facets of Mormonism you can insert into that line in order to make a compelling and provocative statement, e.g.:
The historicity of the BofM---it's the quintessential Mormon delusion---simultaneously the source of TBMs' greatest strength, and their greatest weakness.
Denying the priesthood to women---it's the quintessential Mormon delusion---simultaneously the source of TBMs' greatest strength, and their greatest weakness.
'When our leaders speak, the thinking has been done'---it's the quintessential Mormon.... you get the idea.
I also like the weird dialectical battle that the Architect sketches out, between choice (a.k.a. free agency) vs. fate. Sure, Neo can choose, but does the fact that the choices were predetermined mean that he lacks true free will? Likewise, we have free agency, but does the fact that we can choose eternal salvation through Mormonism, or a far lesser afterlife mean that our agency is actually quite limited? The parallels go on and on....
