I don't think this is particular to LDS. I think that etiquette is out the window in our society pretty much across the board.

I agree with Jersey. This isn't a Mormon thing at all. We usually get thank you notes from LDS couples; it's the non-LDS ones we rarely see a thank you from. I think it's just indicative of the continuing slide of our society into rampant rudeness as the norm. Some people never listened to their mothers when they tried to teach them good manners.

No. And if someone doesn't it is bad form, just like it would be for anyone else.

I concur. The amount of graciousness you extend to others says a lot about how you were raised but also Who you desire to emulate.

47 But charity is the pure love of Christ, and it endureth forever; and whoso is found possessed of it at the last day, it shall be well with him.
48 Wherefore, my beloved brethren, pray unto the Father with all the energy of heart, that ye may be filled with this love, which he hath bestowed upon all who are true followers of his Son, Jesus Christ; that ye may become the sons of God; that when he shall appear we shall be like him, for we shall see him as he is; that we may have this hope; that we may be purified even as he is pure. Amen.

(Book of Mormon | Moroni 7:47 - 48)

When it comes down to it, a simple and sincere thankyou/acknowledgement is heartwarming and always appreciated.
