French Manicure (this works!)
Hey Ladies,
I found the best thing ever on you tube! It's a way to do a French manicure at home and it works! I own about 50 thousand bottles of nail polish and lacquer and had what I needed or close to what I needed to do this at home. I only messed up one nail and by the time you're done doing the layers, it's not even noticeable!

What I used:
Orly Rubberized Base Coat
White pearlized polish (it's what I had)
Pinkish translucent polish (again, what I had)
Orly Top Coat
The only thing I'd change are the middle two polishes but even so, it looks pretty good! I have a pink clear coat someplace else and I'll try that next time in place of the pink translucent. Watch how she does it when she switches to her non-dominant hand. You can actually use the same technique when using your dominant hand.
Enjoy and let me know if you try it!
p.s. I originally found the site for another reason (you'll know when you see it) and after viewing several videos I saw that the woman is actually LDS. How fitting!

Now I'm becoming obsessed with this. I bought some inexpensive polish apparently made just for French Manicure. I opted for inexpensive just incase I didn't like the color contrast. Well, you get what you pay for. The white was terrible: gummy, smeary...almost like a bottle of white shoe polish! The pink was good though.
I'm going over to Ulta tomorrow to get the products used in the video.

Why would you need to do it?

Because sometimes Shades likes to feel pretty. He studied Kabuki theatre in Japan.

Continuing what has now become my obsessive search for the perfect at-home French Manicure, I happened upon another youtube video that uses a different painting technique:

and then...I learned by searching around that Sally Beauty Supply carries special little strips that make the line for the tips.
Where I'm going tomorrow:
Sally for the strips and for the Essie nail polish used in the first video though I may have to swing by another beauty supply store for the polish. I didn't go to Ulta but found no evidence of Essie products sold by Ulta when searching online.
