You mean 'the Capitol', right? and she wasn't 'disobeying a police order when entering' it, like she turned left when an officer said 'turn right Ma'am'. She was part of a violent mob that was trying to break down a barricaded door that was the last line of defence to stop the mob getting into the Speaker's Corridor that leads into the House of Representatives. The mob had finally succeeded in smashing the armoured glass of the door, and she was climbing through into the lobby when she was shot by the policemen who was the last defender on the other side of the door.

People aren't rioting about her getting shot by the officer doing his duty to defend Congress against a violent mob because even people like ajax would be embarrassed to protest against this brave officer doing what he had to do under terrifying circumstances.

Jersey Girl, it’s not. According to the information I saw, she was trying to arrest him for an outstanding warrant on an unspecified gross misdemeanor. That was pretty widely reported.

Are you asking if Daunte Wright was walking away from the officer? So far as I know (recall I'm spending time on the Chauvin trial as I have time so I might have missed something about Mr. Wright) he was shot before exiting his vehicle. Then after being shot, exited the vehicle.

Feel free to correct me if I am wrong. I'll get to following this case more carefully (I am not a trial watcher, I am not a trial watcher, I am not a trial watcher) after the Chauvin case is decided which will likely be next week.

When the trial off Officer Potter comes up best believe I'll follow it.

ETA: The video I saw indicated to me that Mr. Wright was shot in the abdominal area while sitting in the driver's seat of the vehicle with the driver's side door open, the officer approached kind of from the side of his body. That's difficult to describe. It's on tape though.

RI I think I got the above account really wrong. Just watched a short video on it. Looks like Wright was pulled over for a traffic stop (expired tags), was cuffed outside the car, started wrestling with cops a bit, he got back IN the car where he was shot and then apparently took off in the vehicle and crashed it.

She's grieving for two now.

NC High School Coach Killed While Reportedly Robbing Sinaloa Cartel Stash House

A high school basketball coach in North Carolina is dead after he allegedly attempted to steal from a local Sinaloa Cartel drug runner. Police in Alamance County say the coach went with another man to steal money and drugs.

Alamance County Sheriff Terry Johnson told reporters, “It was believed that this was during a home invasion for money and drugs,” WCNC NBC reported.

Union Academy basketball coach Barney Harris reportedly went to a house on April 8 with another man to carry out the home invasion robbery. During the attempted robbery, a shootout ensued leaving Harris mortally wounded.

Sheriff Johnson said the house was a drug-running operation for the Sinaloa Cartel. Harris, and his brother-in-law Steven Alexander Stewart, Jr., killed the drug runner shortly before the shootout began. Harris, who wore a ballistic vest, sustained multiple gunshot wounds. He died at the scene.

“I can tell you this right now. When we are dealing with the Mexican drug cartel, somebody’s probably going to die as a result of this right here, somewhere else,” the sheriff said. “And we did not want to put it out there until we could get a good grip of what’s going on here.”

ABC11 reported that Harris and Stewart arrived at the mobile home and found 18-year-old Alonso Beltran Lara inside. The duo allegedly interrogated the cartel member about the location of the stash. When he refused to answer, they shot him in the head, police investigators stated.

“And they were trying to find the money and drugs and apparently he didn’t give them the information to do that and he was technically close range, two bullets to the back of the head, he was executed,” Sheriff Johnson stated.

Investigators found multiple firearms at the scene and described the incident as “an old western shootout.” Stewart managed to escape and was later arrested by sheriff’s deputies. He faces charges of first-degree murder and first-degree burglary.

Johnson said other mobile homes nearby were struck by gunfire but no one was injured.

“The neighbors are shooting and the bullets are hitting over here in our trailer,” a frightened neighbor said in a 911 call.

Retired FBI Assistant Director Chris Swecker told the local NBC affiliate the Sinaloa Cartel has a “significant presence in Alamance County.” The county is located between Greensboro and Durham, North Carolina.

“The cartels are notorious for their violence,” Swecker continued. “They are probably the most violent criminal organization on the face of the earth.”

During the investigation, police seized multiple firearms, $7,000 in cash and approximately 1.2 kilograms of cocaine.

WSOC-TV9 reported the Union Academy hired Harris as a basketball coach in July 2017. He also taught Spanish and coached the varsity men’s track team.

Police are currently searching for Juan Daniel Salinas Lara in connection with the drug trafficking operation.

The point is despite the image complaining about whitey (or Trumpers or Qtards, whatever) not suffering the same heavy-handed fate that black folks experience by LEOs, a woman was shot dead - and we’re talking about a historically marginalized demographic if one wants to throw that into the mix - and ~414 people have been systematically hunted down, arrested, and charged for their crimes. Is shooting people a general principle that can be applied to people who throw bricks at police, or attempt to burn down court houses or businesses because of a political axe to grind? Are extrajudicial killings cool as long as the person being killed is on the wrong side of the law or an ideology? I have zero sympathy for Babbitt for a multitude of reasons, but she was, in fact not armed, could’ve been detained, and could’ve argued her case in front of a judge or jury. She was, uh, adjudicated expeditiously, instead. The image posted was just partisan pot stirring with no basis in reality.

Just read a Washington Supreme Court opinion that addressed use of force against handcuffed suspects. This little tidbit is a window into the problems with LEO training:

The DRB next discussed what it described as “disturbing” testimony
regarding the training that Shepherd received. Specifically, “[SPOG] presented
undisputed testimony from both Shepherd and [a] training officer . . . that an
officer who is physically assaulted is trained to respond with sufficient force to
subdue the subject, which is exactly what Officer Shepherd did here.” According
to the DRB, the training officer had testified,

“I say the same thing to every class: ‘If someone hits you, what are
you supposed to do to protect yourself? If they hit you, what do you
do?’ The whole class will say, ‘You hit them back.’ Then I say to
the class, ‘How hard do we hit them?’ The whole class will say, ‘As
hard as you can.’ After I say that, I say, ‘What do we do next?
What do we do after we stop the threat?’ I’m prompting them.
They’ll say, ‘We modulate our force. We modulate our force to
control it.’ ”

The LEO hit a relatively small, very drunk, handcuffed woman after she kicked him in the face while he was trying to force her into the patrol car. She suffered a minor fracture of one orbital. There were three other officers and a police dog on the scene. He was fired for violating the use of force policy on handcuffed suspects. The Union and the officer appealed, and the review board reinstated her with a three-week unpaid suspension. On appeal, the Superior Court reimposed the original sanction (firing). The Supreme Court affirmed.
