[MODERATOR NOTE: It's my opinion that the penultimate post in this thread seemed more "at home" in the Terrestrial Forum, making it necessary to move the reply thereunto along with it.

Daniel Peterson wrote:You seem to have an exceptionally strong interest in my death.
I have no doubt that in your mind, which is filled with persecution fantasies and paranoia, you believe this.
You seem to be interested in trying to justify your accomplishments by comparing them to mine, and with such a comparison one should also note the huge difference in age.
Daniel Peterson wrote:You merely look silly when you try to write off a newspaper section and a newspaper Website as an "insert" and a "blog."
I don't know about that. You seem awfully upset, for something so "silly". I won't comment on the apparent silliness of trying to defend the Mormon Times as some kind of real newspaper, and your column as something more than a FARMS and FAIR advertisement.
Daniel Peterson wrote:But you are, you say, a very successful writer.
When and where did I say I was a "very successful writer", Bro. Peterson. Are you making things up?
Is there any publicly available evidence of your success?
How sad.
Sure there is, though I imagine we define success much differently. For example, if I was you, I would probably look back on my career and find it to be a complete and utter failure, a life squandered, and would feel an almost overwhelming depression if I had to live your day to day life.
Daniel Peterson wrote:Writers do book tours, talk shows, autograph-signings in bookstores, and similar things.
LOL! Is that what this behavior is akin to? Your compulsive posting on Internet message boards is like doing a promotional circuit? LOL!
Bro. Peterson, of course you are right. Plenty of respected writers are promoting their column on message boards. Many of them stay active participants of those message boards for years, you know, to keep on promoting their writing. LOL.
Daniel Peterson wrote:Actually, from the desperation with which you're seeking to denigrate my little weekly newspaper column, it rather seems that you do.
Oh gosh. Please stop. You're killing me.

You're wise to refrain from commenting on that, since even a cursory glance at the subjects that I've discussed in my columns since February 2010 would demonstrate your mischaracterization of them.
And, of course, I've never said that Mormon Times is a newspaper. It's a regular section of the Thursday edition of the Deseret News.

Ah. Okay. So you're not a very successful writer.
Fine. I see no reason to dispute what you say.

Yeah. I know. Sorry about that.
The fact is, though, that you seem to be mightily upset by my mentioning things, including my column, that I think people ought to read.
I promise that I won't be bothered at all, not even slightly, if you want to provide links to your own articles, movies, and books when they appear, or even to articles, books, and movies by others that you want to recommend. I think that's a good thing, not a bad thing.

Dr. Shades wrote:For what movie did your wife's cousin write the screenplay?
The one to which I was referring was As Good as It Gets, with Jack Nicholson and Helen Hunt. He's written others, as well. And collaborated on, or reworked, still others.

That's pretty cool.

You're related to the Mark Andrus who won the WGA award (with a co-writer) fourteen years ago? Wow. Impressive. What does he do now? Write for newspaper inserts and blogs?
Yes. I'm upset. Tremendously. I don't genuinely think your newspaper insert and blog advertisements deserve ridicule. What a joke. Come on, Bro. Peterson. Stop kidding yourself.

Re: My Column in the "Mormon Times"
I'm reminded of a warped version of Jesus' exchange with his disciples on the road to Caesarea Philippi: "Whom do men say that I am?" he asked. And Peter replied, "Thou art the second hypostasis of the incomprehensible metaphysical Trinity, a hypostatic union of unconfused but coexisting deity and humanity, consubstantial with the Father, a separate person but, ontologically speaking, the same transtemporal being." And Jesus said unto him, "What?"
Brilliant!

Re: My Column in the "Mormon Times"
Mormonism declares that the original Christian church fell into apostasy. What is the best evidence for that claim? The fact that there was a restoration. The historical evidence for an apostasy is, in my judgment, excellent. But God's restoration of the church and the gospel proves it.
So creating a solution to help resolve a perceived problem actually proves that the perceived problem is real and that the solution is the correct solution? I think you have something here!!
