God not bound by us

Post by _moksha »

Ran across this statement by The Nehor on the MDD board:

God can say whatever he wants to whomever he wants. It is not our place to place bounds on what the Almighty may choose to do.

This idea seems good, but is also somewhat contrary to the notion that we can bind things on Earth and in Heaven. There must be some rationalization around this. What am I missing?

You found none. The rules of scientific metaphysical naturalism are read simply. There can be no rationalization.

Mok:
Nehor is correct! The Almighty, all powerful Mythical God, can say & do whatever he wants whenever he wants. Luckily he restrains himself and is quite predictable. Like the sun traveling... OOPS, remaining still while earth travels...
As for humans "binding things", this fool ain't going there! Yer on yer own Bro. . .
Enjoy tomorrow...

According to Jeremiah 18:1-10, God is bound to change his mind based on certain human decisions and actions.

Might those human decisions & actions be such as defying gravity, breaking the sound barrier, growing human tissue, or permitting menstruating women to remain at home, etc???
Your possibility examples. . .

i think you may be missing the fact that the quote is wrong.
To say that God is un-boundless may be an incorrect understanding of His nature.
For example, we recognize, and know, that God can not lie, tell falsehoods. He is also bound by covenants.
Some may refute these examples and simply claim that He could if He "wanted" to...but that would be inaccurate, because He could never want to...by His nature, He could never want to, nor would He ever be able to.
This is an aspect of a different discussion where one considers the question of whether God brought forth the Law of if the Law brought forth God.

Hope this helps

Doesn't really seem to be part of the context; just keeping the applicable commandments.

It's an excuse to try and get around all the stupid things they claim God has done like the priesthood ban.
