Well, I'm not convinced that one who is merely sleeping has an actual OBE.

Exactly. You are only convinced by the minority experiences that coincide with what you already want to believe. The majority of experiences don't coincide with what you already want to believe so you discount them out of hand.

Good one, that made me *snort* in a good way.

You take my point though. You want to believe the minority who experience an OBE that is consistent with your belief in an afterlife. Those people, who under the same physical conditions and who are in a majority, who experience nothing, you discount because it doesn't provide you with the confirmation of what you want to believe. It's inescapable.

Why have you stopped talking about NDE's?

The same applies though.

An extreme minority of the human race report experiencing OBE's yet you choose to accept their experiences rather than the overwhelming amount of people who report no such thing. You do so because the minority experience something that confirms a belief in the afterlife that you already hold.

I think that perhaps NDE's are somewhat different than OBE's.
