The scriptures speak of two separate times when the Lord would cleanse the earth of wickedness. The first was at the time of Noah (see Genesis 6) and the second will be at the Second Coming. Joseph Smith—Matthew 1:41–43, in the Pearl of Great Price, tells ways those two time periods will be like each other. The biggest difference in the two periods is that the earth was cleansed by water in the days of Noah, and at the Second Coming it will be cleansed by fire. These two events are a type of how we are cleansed by the baptism of water and the baptism of fire—the cleansing of the soul that occurs when we truly receive the gift of the Holy Ghost.

I think it's important to emphasize that the scientific case against the Flood isn't merely that there's no evidence that it occurred. It's not even just that no plausible scientific explanation can account for the mechanisms behind the flood, the Ark and its requirements, and so forth. What's most damning, or at least equally co-damning, is that the evidence shows that something else, mutually exclusive with the global Flood, really did happen during the time period claimed for the Flood.
It is, if you will, Reality's alibi.
Mormonism ceased being a compelling topic for me when I finally came to terms with its transformation from a personality cult into a combination of a real estate company, a SuperPac, and Westboro Baptist Church. - Kishkumen

to imply, or expect, God to be bound by the laws of nature is rather "uninformed" don't you think? Though your sarcastic use of the term "magic" is intended to diminish, it actually affirms the story and their position. No one i know has ever claimed that the workings of God need be validate by laboratory.

you are entitled to your opinion, but the evidence seems to disagree with you.

is it your opinion that where there is no evidence one should have no belief...in other words, everything you believe in has evidence, has indisputable proof, that it is "believable"?

obviously you are devoid of any understanding of the flood story - the purpose is not just the "removal of evil people" - even a cursory understanding of the story would reveal why the story has the elements it has...God's actions are quite deliberate.

Good point. It was actually closer to one year.

Well there is more then just lack of evidence, but mountains showing no such event occurred during modern man's roaming the earth(you notice I said during the time of modern man since you don't seem to understand like everyone else that this is what the issue is about). The context I was discussing here is the idea of why God would need to use magic, not to create a global flood, but to hide the evidence and even create mountains of evidence to make it look like no global flood event occurred.
why do you care? what skin is it off your nose?
Why should I not care? Why do you try to get people to believe certain things are true or not true. It's not like I am out protesting or knocking on your door. I used to be as a missionary for the LDS church. My parents believe in a global flood, but I think at this stage of their lives it would be more harmful to their happiness to try and change their beliefs. If you don't want to discuss these issues no one is forcing you to participate in these threads. I do think it is better in the long run if we as a society have more correct understanding of the universe, but I let people believe what ever they want.
