Nipper, one version says there were 2 of everything and the other version says there were 7 pairs of each clean animal and two of each unclean.

Which is correct?

historically accurate?
hmmm...let us appoint "19 And of all the living, of all flesh, you shall bring two to the ark to keep alive with you, they shall be male and female." as the accurate one so that you may proceed.

I also need to know the author.

I know. Both are entirely correct. The key is pairs of male and female. The one says that the animals are to be in pairs. The other is more specific and declares the number of pairs of both clean and unclean animals... It is the very same Middle Eastern literary style (moving from the general aspects and restating it more specifically) just as with the creation of Adam and Eve --- Genesis Chapter 1 & 2

How did Noah manage to get the Penguins and the Polar Bears to travel to the Middle East to get on board the ark?

What did Noah do to collect all the other living things that God destroyed in the flood?

Living things are classified into 5 kingdoms - animalia, plantae, fungi, protista, and monera.

Of the birds after their kind, of animals after their kind, and of every creeping thing of the earth after its kind, two of every kind will come to you, to keep them alive (Genesis 6:20). If you had been following along with "The Bible verse by verse", you might have already known this...
