I comment on a Biblical timeline and you go off on some meaningless tangent. This is why I care nothing about your posts. Barry is a scientist and he is trying to use science to explain the past. I have clearly stated that I believe in miracles and how they have dictated the past. Barry and the rest of science is wrong in even the attempt to unravel something that can't be done in my opinion.

You know all of this and yet you post this garbage. I will not respond to your posts for a while. It hurts my brain to lower myself to your level of intellect.

I suspect Gordon who easily answered this question in regards to LDS beliefs probably did go on a mission. We also knew because God or the HG told us was also coming up short.

Hello Themis!

Did you "know" what God or the HG told you "was coming up short" because that is what Church leaders were telling you? Or were you just not personally receiving much from God or the HG; thus only "thought" what God or the HG were telling you "was coming up short"?

HOW did you "know"? What was your evidence?

Blessings,

jo

What I mean by coming up short was when asked, just saying God or the HG told me, and not at least trying to explain how I know or believe the HG or God was communicating with me or other members. As to evidence the HG was communicating, I convinced myself like many that certain inner experiences were coming from some unseen being. Perhaps you could try to say how you know since we all know frank or subby will not. Excuses about whether we will accept their explanations is really only an excuse. If you read the laban threads in the terrestrial forum you can see that at least one poster gave explanations why he thinks he knows or believes an unseen being was communicating to him.

He is your source!

Here's one from good old Barry using the link you provided.

2345 B.C -- Cosmic Impact changes the Earth's axis tilt, causing catastrophic destruction of sites worldwide.

And this little beauty...

5810 BC -- Creation

3554 BC -- Noah's Flood

3182 BC -- Babel Catastrophe

3023 BC -- Peleg Continental Division begins

So the earth was created in 5810 bc....really?
And it's going to end (transfer to a different era after 8,000 years) in 2190 - in another 187 years, right?

So, within 2,300 years, man had screwed up the world so badly He had to drown everybody and start again with Noah's family?
Within 500 years of that God then decided to split the land mass into continents?
And then 1,000 years after the flood, man had screwed up again so badly that God had the change the earths axis to create catastrophe?

Frank, wouldn't your time be better spent walking up and down the street wearing a placard declaring "The End is Nigh"?

You have got to be kidding after that post. I don't think I have seen to many posts showing that level of ignorance and bias for predetermined beliefs. Please learn what science is really about.

Hello Themis!

I have not read the links you provided; however, I will share an experience.

About 22 years ago, I was traveling across the USA coast to coast and back again, with both of my parents; helping to do about half of the driving. My father and I shared the driving, as my mother was not up to it. We drove in their full-sized car (when full-sized was truly full-sized). My mom's routine was to sit in the back seat behind the passenger's seat. She was our navigator; from this seat she could see and converse clearly with the driver. When she wasn't navigating, she would read, work crossword puzzles, watch the scenery, or sleep. Dad would drive the morning shift; I would drive the afternoon shift. While he drove, I would sleep with my head propped up on a pillow which I placed against the passenger window.

One morning, shortly after having breakfast, I had fluffed up my pillow and had settled in for my nap. I was just drifting off to sleep when suddenly, with great earnestness in her voice, my mother said, "Jean! Your father is asleep!!" Startled, I turned my head to the left to look. Sure enough! My father's eyes were closed! We were traveling about 60 miles an hour. There were two lanes of traffic on our side of the meridian; and two lanes of traffic going in the opposite direction on the other side of the meridian. I quickly reached across the seat and shook his arm while telling him to "wake up"! Immediately he opened his eyes. He actually asked me what was wrong.....and even when I told him he had been sleeping, he began to try to reason with me that he was "fine" now. Obviously, this was NOT good enough for me! I insisted that he take the next exit so that we could switch.

Now for the interesting part of my experience. As we took the next exit, my mother asked, "Why are we taking this exit?" I thought she was kidding me, so I said, "Are you serious? I'm taking over the driving!" It wasn't until she asked me why I was taking over the driving, that I first realized that it was NOT her voice I had heard. In fact, I was the only one who heard the voice. She had slept through the entire event.

I KNOW an unseen being/entity had communicated with me. When this took place, I had been inactive for about nine years. I had joined the Church in 1974; this happened in 1990. In fact, it was during a time I was very angry with Heavenly Father.

Blessings,

jo

This is not an uncommon type of story. Excluding memory issues, can you think of any other possible explanations?

But you know it wasn't God/Christ/The Holy Ghost speaking because it was a female voice.
Heavenly Mother perhaps?

But why should that cause you to join the Mormon Church? Why not seek a church more biblical? God preserved your life for whatever reason and wants you to discover Him and not some organization. Mormonism is all about one's feelings, family, and gaining privileges on earth and in heaven. I do not see it as a place to worship the one and only God that ever existed and learning His Word without adding to it.

Yes, I could have become a very temporary schizophrenic.....hearing another voice in my head; oddly, the other voice also had its own set of eyes. Or, perhaps someone driving by saw what was going on, recognized me even though I was about 2000 miles away from home, and shouted loud enough for me to hear them through the closed windows; but not loud enough to awaken either my dad or my mom. Or maybe it was a Candid Camera hoax which both my parents were in on; but I never got to see that particular episode.

Since it is not uncommon, maybe guardian angels really do step in when directed to do so by God, because it's just not time for us to leave this earthly estate. It's not very scientific, though.

Blessings,

jo
