TWO Gospels in the Mormon Faith
Two Mormon Gospels in the Mormon Faith. The Preparatory which Mormons tell investigators since
Doctrine and covenant section commands Mormons to tell them only the Preparator and not the Fullness which they say is in The Book of Mormon.
26 And the lesser priesthood continued, which priesthood holdeth the key of the ministering of angels and the preparatory gospel;
27 Which gospel is the gospel of repentance and of baptism, and the remission of sins, and the elaw of carnal commandments, which the Lord in his wrath caused to continue with the house of Aaron among the children of Israel until John, whom God raised up, being filled with the Holy Ghost from his mother’s womb.
Section 19:31 And of tenets thou shalt not talk, but thou shalt declare repentance and faith on the Savior, and remission of sins by baptism, and by fire, yea, even the Holy Ghost.
The Fullness of Gospel is to be avoided by them in talking to investigator’s since it would scare the heevie jeevies out of Bible believers.
These teachings and doctrines are in accord with the statement of the Prophet Joseph Smith that the principles of the gospel are “according to the Holy Scriptures, and the Book of Mormon; and the only way that man can enter into the celestial kingdom.” (Teachings of the Prophet Joseph Smith, p. 16.) The fulness of the gospel as contained in the Book of Mormon means that it contains those instructions a person needs to observe in order to be worthy to enter the presence of God in the celestial kingdom.
The Ensign 09/1985
Pearl Of Great Price
34 He said there was a book deposited, written upon gold plates, giving an account of the former inhabitants of this continent, and the source from whence they sprang. He also said that the fulness of the everlasting Gospel was contained in it, as delivered by the Savior to the ancient inhabitants;
the Book of Mormon contains the fullness of Gospel. { D&C 20:9, 27:5. 42:12, 135:3 } This is true in the sense that Book of Mormon is a record of God's dealings with a people who had the fulness of the gospel and therefore the laws and priciples leading to the highest salvation are found recorded in that book.
The fullness consists in those laws, doctrines, ordnances, powers, and authorities needed to enable men to gain the fullness of salvation. Mormon Doctrine page 333
D&C 20:
9 Which contains a record of a fallen people, and the fulness of the gospel of Jesus Christ to the Gentiles and to the Jews also;
D&C 27:
5 Behold, this is wisdom in me; wherefore, marvel not, for the hour cometh that I will drink of the fruit of the vine with you on the earth, and with Moroni, whom I have sent unto you to reveal the Book of Mormon, containing the fulness of my everlasting gospel, to whom I have committed the keys of the record of the stick of Ephraim;
D&C 42:
12 And again, the elders, priests and teachers of this church shall teach the principles of my gospel, which are in the Bible and the Book of Mormon, in the which is the fulness of the gospel.
D&C 135:
3 Joseph Smith, the Prophet and Seer of the Lord, has done more, save Jesus only, for the salvation of men in this world, than any other man that ever lived in it. In the short space of twenty years, he has brought forth the Book of Mormon, which he translated by the gift and power of God, and has been the means of publishing it on two continents; has sent the fulness of the everlasting gospel, which it contained, to the four quarters of the earth;
Why doesn’t the Book of Mormon mention most of LDS teachings?
Like baptism for the dead, celestial marriage, three degrees of glory, that God the Father was a man, plurality of gods, tempory hell, pre-existence of spirits, eternal progression, eternal intelligence, priesthood needed to act for god, plural marriage, polygamy, word of wisdom, secret handshakes etc.
God has a body of flesh and bones,
God is an exalted man,
God is a product of eternal progression,
There is a plurality of gods (polytheism),
Men may become gods,
The Trinity consists of three separate God,
There is no eternal hell and punishment,
“Intelligences” are eternal
The preexistence of humans as spirits,
Marriage for eternity Three degrees of glory,
A Mother in heaven,
A New Testament – era “Melchizidek Priesthood”,
with the offices and functions of elder,
high priest, seventy, patriarch, and apostle A New Testament
– era “Aaronic Priesthood” with the offices and functions of deacon, teacher, priest, and bishop
The functions and offices of evangelists, bishoprics, stake presidencies, apostles, a first presidency, and president of the Church Baptism for the dead and “second-chance salvation”

Re: TWO Gospels in the Mormon Faith
I’m afraid that mainstreaming is headed to three gospels as follows:
1. The Official gospel (correlated gospel)
2. Word of mouth Chapel Mormonism (i.e. the old fullness, which is now relegated to myth)
3. Temple your own personal gospel - which continues to be modified to remove that which offends, but no actual/real teaching/explanations beyond -- it's symbolic, its up to you to find/see what ever symbolism is there for you

I don't think there were many Masons around to teach the Nephites all that stuff.

Re: TWO Gospels in the Mormon Faith
It appears Mittens enjoys not havng more Truth revealed; and is content with partial Light. She wants others to stay with her instead of trying to progress and grow as Jesus and the Apostles taught us to do.
Jesus didn't teach the ancient Apostles everything; as such, the Bible doesn't contain All Truth. It is the Holy Ghost who leads us to All Truth.
John 16:12-13 (KJV)
12 I have yet many things to say unto you, but ye cannot bear them now.
13 Howbeit when he, the Spirit of truth, is come, he will guide you into all truth: for he shall not speak of himself; but whatsoever he shall hear, that shall he speak: and he will shew you things to come.
The Bible doesn't even contain everything the ancient Apostles knew.
1 Corinthians 3:2 (KJV)
I have fed you with milk, and not with meat: for hitherto ye were not able to bear it, neither yet now are ye able.
and,
Hebrews 5:12-13 (KJV)
12 For when for the time ye ought to be teachers, ye have need that one teach you again which be the first principles of the oracles of God; and are become such as have need of milk, and not of strong meat.
13 For every one that useth milk is unskilful in the word of righteousness: for he is a babe.
and,
1 Peter 2:1-3 (KJV) (emphasis is mine)
Wherefore laying aside all malice, and all guile, and hypocrisies, and envies, and all evil speakings,
2 As newborn babes, desire the sincere milk of the word, that ye may grow thereby:
3 If so be ye have tasted that the Lord is gracious.
Perhaps the question being asked should be, why after over 2000 years, mainstream Christianity has NOT received more Truth. Indeed, why is mainstream Christianity still arguing over the interpretation of what they did receive.
Blessings,
jo

Isn't the internet wonderful? You can prove who has the Holy Spirit by YouTube videos!! Praise the Lord!!!

In other words, the Holy Ghost uses YouTube videos as a vehicle for incarnate, albeit virtual, manifestation. So, who needs faith when such visual and audible evidence is available? Sigh....woe to those without access to the Internet, or who still cling to faith and prayer.....

It is nice when you can see the visible manifestation of the Holy Spirit, something lacking in Mormonism. Compare motab with my links

I'll tell you a little secret.... Your "acting" like a believer is a sign of false religion.
The True Holy Spirit is the still small voice, which empowers, enlightens, and exalts while at the same time still being a normal acting human being.
While that is the FACT, LDS however won't be evil as you and condemn your "Faith" in the Lord, and the spirit you seek after and bring. After all, he said not to in Mark 9 & Luke 9. For ALL those who come to his are HIS. And in those verses he said it's better you drown yourself than your actions here condemning our Faith in Him since you think we aren't the "true" followers, and don't have "his spirit". The Apostles in those verses tried to do what you do to us, and they were severely warned by Christ Himself.
Why aren't you listening to him???
Further, your examples are stawmen...... We have all kinds of "singers" and Musicians in the Church.
Since you like Youtube so much, why don't you listen to some LDS music on Youtube, not simply the Tabernacle Choir? Kenneth Cope is especially good. You likely like Michael W. Smith. Guess what, he seems Mormon to us in his SPIRIT AND WORDS..... Him and Kenneth Cope have a similar spirit to each other depending on the songs.
Dirty Dirty..... :(

Re: TWO Gospels in the Mormon Faith
Apologies, ldsfaqs, I have mixed posts and posed a question regarding you post above on the other thread. Could you clarify you poinbt with regard to the two chapt
ers you reference. I see nothing about confronting error, be it Mormon error of any other, in these chapters.
