Psalm 124:1-8 A song of David for pilgrims ascending.

What if the Lord was not on our side? Repeat:

What if the Lord had not been for us when enemies attacked?

They would have ripped us apart in their anger.

The tide would have engulfed us; a deluge would have covered us.

Yes, the flood of their fury would have destroyed our very lives.

Praise the Lord, who did not let tem rip us apart!

We escaped like a bird from a hunter’s trap. The trap is broken, and we are free!

Our help comes from the Lord, who created all space and the material.

Young's Literal Translation (YLT)

1 A Song of the Ascents, by David. Save [for] Jehovah -- who hath been for us, (Pray, let Israel say),

2 Save [for] Jehovah -- who hath been for us, In the rising up of man against us,

3 Then alive they had swallowed us up, In the burning of their anger against us,

4 Then the waters had overflowed us, The stream passed over our soul,

5 Then passed over our soul had the proud waters.

6 Blessed [is] Jehovah who hath not given us, A prey to their teeth.

7 Our soul as a bird hath escaped from a snare of fowlers, The snare was broken, and we have escaped.

8 Our help [is] in the name of Jehovah, Maker of the heavens and earth!

Psalm 125:1-5 A song of those headed upwards.

Those who trust in the Lord are as Mount Zion, which is not moved but endures to the very end.

As the mountains surround Jerusalem, so the Lord encircles His Chosen from now to the end.

The authority of the wicked is not presented to the righteous, for then the righteous might use their hands and work evil.

Lord, do good to those who are upright in spirit.

But those who are corrupt, the Lord will banish with the evildoers.

Peace to Israel.

Young's Literal Translation (YLT)

1 A Song of the Ascents. Those trusting in Jehovah [are] as Mount Zion, It is not moved -- to the age it abideth.

2 Jerusalem! mountains [are] round about her, And Jehovah [is] round about His people, From henceforth even unto the age.

3 For the rod of wickedness resteth not On the lot of the righteous, That the righteous put not forth on iniquity their hands.

4 Do good, O Jehovah, to the good, And to the upright in their hearts.

5 As to those turning [to] their crooked ways, Jehovah causeth them to go with workers of iniquity. Peace on Israel!

Psalm 126:1-6

A song of those headed up.

When the Lord returned the captives of Israel, it seemed like a dream.

At the time we were filled with laughter, and we sang for joy. then the gentiles said, "The Lord has done great things for them."

The Lord did do great things for us, of which we now rejoice.

Dear Lord, refresh again these feelings, as the rivers in the South refresh the land.

They that plant tears, shall reap joy.

They that went weeping, and carried precious seed: they shall return with joy --- bring in His harvest.

Young's Literal Translation (YLT)

1 A Song of the Ascents. In Jehovah's turning back [to] the captivity of Zion, We have been as dreamers.

2 Then filled [with] laughter is our mouth, And our tongue [with] singing, Then do they say among nations, `Jehovah did great things with these.'

3 Jehovah did great things with us, We have been joyful.

4 Turn again, O Jehovah, [to] our captivity, As streams in the south.

5 Those sowing in tears, with singing do reap,

6 Whoso goeth on and weepeth, Bearing the basket of seed, Surely cometh in with singing, bearing his sheaves!

Psalm 127:1-5 A song for those heaven bound by Solomon

If God is not involved in establishing a home, it is pointless for those who work at it. If God doesn't protect a town/city, the constable's job is powerless to help.

It is silly for you who get up extra early and toil daybreak until very late. God gives to the one He loves a restful night.

Understand that a gift from God are children. This is a fruitful heavenly reward to the womb.

As arrows in the hand of a mighty warrior, so are the children of young men.

Happy is the man who has a full house. The children are not shy ---- they even speak with enemies at the gate!

Young's Literal Translation (YLT)

1 A Song of the Ascents, by Solomon. If Jehovah doth not build the house, In vain have its builders laboured at it, If Jehovah doth not watch a city, In vain hath a watchman waked.

2 Vain for you who are rising early, Who delay sitting, eating the bread of griefs, So He giveth to His beloved one sleep.

3 Lo, an inheritance of Jehovah [are] sons, A reward [is] the fruit of the womb.

4 As arrows in the hand of a mighty one, So [are] the sons of the young men.

5 O the happiness of the man Who hath filled his quiver with them, They are not ashamed, For they speak with enemies in the gate!

Psalm 128:1-6 A song those moving upward.

What joy there is in regarding God and walking at His direction.

By the work of one's hands one will eat contented and happy because He's so good.

Your wife is well accomplished and your children gather close to you.

This is how one is blessed who always regards God.

God blesses through Jerusalem. So, consider the good of Jerusalem, throughout your life.

This way, you may live to see your grandchildren grow! Peace to Israel!

Young's Literal Translation (YLT)

1 A Song of the Ascents. O the happiness of every one fearing Jehovah, Who is walking in His ways.

2 The labour of thy hands thou surely eatest, Happy [art] thou, and good [is] to thee.

3 Thy wife [is] as a fruitful vine in the sides of thy house, Thy sons as olive plants around thy table.

4 Lo, surely thus is the man blessed who is fearing Jehovah.

5 Jehovah doth bless thee out of Zion, Look, then, on the good of Jerusalem, All the days of thy life,

6 And see the sons of thy sons! Peace on Israel!

Psalm 129:1-8 A song for those headed upward.

They have often oppressed Israel from its very beginning.

They have often attacked Israel at the start: but they could not prevailed

The plowers plowed upon my back, and made long furrows.

But the righteous Lord has severed the links to the wicked.

They that hate Jerusalem, shall be all shamed and turned away.

They shall be as the grass on the house tops, which withers before it matures.

Of which the mower reaps nothing, neither of which the binder forms sheaves:

Nor they which pass by and say, "The blessing of the Lord be upon you. We bless you in the Name of the Lord."

Young's Literal Translation (YLT)

1 A Song of the Ascents. Often they distressed me from my youth, Pray, let Israel say:

2 Often they distressed me from my youth, Yet they have not prevailed over me.

3 Over my back have ploughers ploughed, They have made long their furrows.

4 Jehovah [is] righteous, He hath cut asunder cords of the wicked.

5 Confounded and turn backward do all hating Zion.

6 They are as grass of the roofs, That before it was drawn out withereth,

7 That hath not filled the hand of a reaper, And the bosom of a binder of sheaves.

8 And the passers by have not said, `The blessing of Jehovah [is] on you, We blessed you in the Name of Jehovah!'

Psalm 130:1-8 The song of those moving upwards.

From the pits I cry out to you, Lord;

Lord , do listen to my cries. Please harken to my cry for mercy.

If You dear Lord remembered every sin, who could last?

But through You there is forgiveness, so that we can, reverently, serve You.

I wait for the Lord, my whole self is in hope, and in His message I place my hope.

I wait for the Lord with more anticipation than a guard anticipates the breaking dawn.

Israel, put your hope in the Lord, for with the Lord comes unfailing love and full redemption.

He Himself will redeem Israel from all their sins.

Young's Literal Translation (YLT)

1 A Song of the Ascents. From depths I have called Thee, Jehovah.

2 Lord, hearken to my voice, Thine ears are attentive to the voice of my supplications.

3 If iniquities Thou dost observe, O Lord, who doth stand?

4 But with Thee [is] forgiveness, that Thou mayest be feared.

5 I hoped [for] Jehovah -- hoped hath my soul, And for His word I have waited.

6 My soul [is] for the Lord, More than those watching for morning, Watching for morning!

7 Israel doth wait on Jehovah, For with Jehovah [is] kindness, And abundant with Him [is] redemption.

8 And He doth redeem Israel from all his iniquities!

Psalm 131:1-3 Song of those moving upward by David.

My spirit is not arrogant, Lord, my eyes are not filled with distain; I do not concern myself with great matters or things beyond me.

But I have controlled and quieted myself, I am like a weaned child with its mother ---content.

Israel, put your hope in the Lord from now until the end.

Young's Literal Translation (YLT)

1 A Song of the Ascents, by David. Jehovah, my heart hath not been haughty, Nor have mine eyes been high, Nor have I walked in great things, And in things too wonderful for me.

2 Have I not compared, and kept silent my soul, As a weaned one by its mother? As a weaned one by me [is] my soul.

3 Israel doth wait on Jehovah, From henceforth, and unto the age!

Psalm 132:1-18 A song of those moving upwards

Lord, remember David and his selflessness.

He made a vow to the Mighty One of Jacob:

“I will not enter my house or go to my bed,

I will not allow my eyes to rest,

until I find a spot for the Lord, a dwelling for the Mighty One of Jacob.”

We heard of it in Ephrathah, we came upon it in forest glens.

“Let us go to his dwelling place, let us worship at his footstool, saying, ‘Come Lord, come to your resting place, you and the ark of your persuasion.

May your priests be covered with your righteousness; may your faithful people sing for joy.’”

For the sake of your servant David, do not reject your Chosen One.

The Lord made a commitment to David --- one He will not revoke: “One of your own descendants I will place on your throne.

If your sons keep my covenant and the statutes I teach them. then their sons will sit on the throne eternally.”

For the Lord has chosen Jerusalem. He desired it for his dwelling, saying, “This is my resting place forever; here I will sit enthroned, for I wish to.

I will bless her with abundant provisions; her poor I will satisfy with nourishment.

I will cover her priests with salvation, and her faithful people will sing joyously.

“Here I will establish a horn for David and set a beacon for My Anointed One.

I will cover His enemies with shame, but his head will be adorned with a shinning crown.”

Young's Literal Translation (YLT)

1 A Song of the Ascents. Remember, Jehovah, for David, all his afflictions.

2 Who hath sworn to Jehovah. He hath vowed to the Mighty One of Jacob:

3 `If I enter into the tent of my house, If I go up on the couch of my bed,

4 If I give sleep to mine eyes, To mine eyelids -- slumber,

5 Till I do find a place for Jehovah, Tabernacles for the Mighty One of Jacob.

6 `Lo, we have heard it in Ephratah, We have found it in the fields of the forest.

7 We come in to His tabernacles, We bow ourselves at His footstool.

8 Arise, O Jehovah, to Thy rest, Thou, and the ark of Thy strength,

9 Thy priests do put on righteousness, And Thy pious ones cry aloud.

10 For the sake of David Thy servant, Turn not back the face of Thine anointed.

11 Jehovah hath sworn truth to David, He turneth not back from it: Of the fruit of thy body, I set on the throne for thee.

12 If thy sons keep My covenant, And My testimonies that I teach them, Their sons also for ever and ever, Do sit on the throne for thee.

13 For Jehovah hath fixed on Zion, He hath desired [it] for a seat to Himself,

14 This [is] My rest for ever and ever, Here do I sit, for I have desired it.

15 Her provision I greatly bless, Her needy ones I satisfy [with] bread,

16 And her priests I clothe [with] salvation, And her pious ones do sing aloud.

17 There I cause to spring up a horn for David, I have arranged a lamp for Mine anointed.

18 His enemies I do clothe [with] shame, And upon him doth his crown flourish!

Psalm 133:1-3 A song of David concerning those moving on up.

How nice and pleasant it is when God’s people live together as a community!

It is like precious oil poured on the head, running down onto the beard, Aaron’s beard --- down onto the drape of his robe.

It is as the dew of Hermon refreshing the hills of Jerusalem. There the Lord places His blessing, of life eternal.

Young's Literal Translation (YLT)

1 A Song of the Ascents, by David. Lo, how good and how pleasant The dwelling of brethren -- even together!

2 As the good oil on the head, Coming down on the beard, the beard of Aaron, That cometh down on the skirt of his robes,

3 As dew of Hermon -- That cometh down on hills of Zion, For there Jehovah commanded the blessing -- Life unto the age!
