Proverbs 12:1-28

Those loving direction, love knowledge, And those hating a reprimand are ignorant.

The good bring favor from the Lord, And the man of wicked devices He condemns.

A man is not established through wickedness. And the foundation of the righteous is not moved.

A virtuous woman is a crown to her husband, And a shameful wife is like bone cancer to her husband.

The ideas of the righteous are honest, The counsel of the wicked -- deceit.

The words of the wicked spill blood,' And the mouth of the upright delivers them.

Depose the wicked, and they scatter. And the house of the righteous remains.

In accordance with his wisdom is a man praised. The perverted of heart is soon despised.

Better to be average and having a servant, than the prideful who lacks food.

The righteous understands his animals, but the wicked attempting to be merciful are cruel.

Those tilling the ground are satisfied with produce, but those pursuing vanities lack heart,

The wicked desires what evil captures. The root of righteousness is generosity.

The slip of the tongue is a snare of the wicked, but the righteous move on from distress.

By kind words is one satisfied, and the deeds of man's hands return to him.

The behavior of a fool is ok in his own eyes, but those who listen to counsel are wise.

The fool -- in a day is his anger is exposed, but the prudent conceals shame.

Those who are faithfulness promote righteousness, but a false witness spreads deceit.

A reckless speaker is like multiple stab wounds. The tongue of the wise is healing.

Truth is established for ever, but falsehood quickly passes.

Deceit is in the heart of those scheming. And in those counseling with peace is joy.

Iniquity is not desired by the righteous. And the wicked are filled with evil.

The liar is an abomination to the Lord. And the devoted the Lord find delightful.

A prudent man conceals some knowledge. The heart of fools proclaim their folly.

The diligent rule, while the slothful pay tribute.

Sorrow causes a man to be downcast. And a good word brings him happiness.

The righteous seeks companionship. The behavior of the wicked cause them to make mistakes .

The lazy waste what they hunted for. And the wealth of a diligent man is precious.

The path of righteousness is life, And there is no death in that path!

And with that sentence the translation can be dismissed as fraudulent.

Not really. The point of the verse has nothing to do with what the husband took or didn't take. The point is that she is his wife ---- whether he is out of town and took his bag of gold or his credit cards.

I know the intent of the verse. But a translation isn't a translation if you get to insert your own words willy-nilly.

What I type is how I see the intent of the passage and that is what I'm sharing.

Wait, . . . you're not copying-and-pasting from some translation somewhere, you're providing your very own "translation?"
"Finally, for your rather strange idea that miracles are somehow linked to the amount of gay sexual gratification that is taking place would require that primitive Christianity was launched by gay sex, would it not?"

I'm basically considering what the Bible says to me. I must admit that I have been both Sunday schooled and attended a Fundamentalist Bible believing college. I've read various translations of the Bible and ponder with the help of the Holy Spirit what God has revealed. However, while presenting YOUNG's LITERAL TRANSLATION. I have been attempting to evaluate what the Bible states. If anyone disagrees with my paraphrasing, anyone is free to interject, as I have stated various times during this process.

It is my intension to reveal that the Bible is very explicit and not at all corrupted or distorted as some have proposed or believe it to be. AND it is a very good thing for everyone to read the Bible, no matter how long that process may take... Those that disagree with the Bible, may find that what they heard is not substantiated by what it actually says.

Proverbs 13:1-25

A wise son listens to what his father has to say, but a mocker will not heed rebuke.

A righteous man enjoys good things as a result of what he says, but the unfaithful thrive on violence

Those who are reticent preserve their lives, but those who speak rashly promote ruin.

A lazy man's appetite is never quenched, but the desires of the diligent become satisfied.

The righteous hate lies, but the wicked become obnoxious --- shaming themselves.

Righteousness protects the person of integrity, but wickedness negates a sin offering.

One person pretends to be rich, yet has nothing; another lives modestly, yet has it all.

A person’s riches may ransom their life, but the poor are largely left alone.

The light of the righteous shines, but the lamp of the wicked is extinguished.

A vain prideful man creates arguments, but with the counseled comes wisdom.

Dishonest gain dwindles away, but whoever gathers little by little makes it grow.

Hope withheld makes the heart sick, but longing fulfilled is the tree of life.

Whoever hates instruction will pay for it, but whoever regards a command gains a reward.

The teaching of the wise displays life, turning a person from dreadful snares.

Good judgment wins high regard, but the behavior of the unfaithful results in their destruction.

Those who are prudent act with knowledge, but fools expose their folly.

A wicked gossip gets into trouble, but a trustworthy messenger brings healing.

Whoever disregards discipline comes to poverty and shame, but accepting correction brings honor.

A desire fulfilled is sweet to the soul, but fools hate retreating from evil.

Walk with the wise and become wise, hang with fools and suffer.

Trouble chases sinners, but the righteous are rewarded with compensation.

A good person leaves an inheritance for their children’s children, but a sinner’s wealth the righteous are given.

An unploughed field produces food for the poor, and it's fruit is taken without fault.

Whoever withholds necessary punishments does their children no good, but those who loves their children carefully discipline them.

The righteous gleans to save his soul, but the stomach of the wicked remains unfilled.

Young's Literal Translation (YLT)

1 A wise son -- the instruction of a father, And a scorner -- he hath not heard rebuke.

2 From the fruit of the mouth a man eateth good, And the soul of the treacherous -- violence.

3 Whoso is keeping his mouth, is keeping his soul, Whoso is opening wide his lips -- ruin to him!

4 The soul of the slothful is desiring, and hath not. And the soul of the diligent is made fat.

5 A false word the righteous hateth, And the wicked causeth abhorrence, and is confounded.

6 Righteousness keepeth him who is perfect in the way, And wickedness overthroweth a sin offering.

7 There is who is making himself rich, and hath nothing, Who is making himself poor, and wealth [is] abundant.

8 The ransom of a man's life [are] his riches, And the poor hath not heard rebuke.

9 The light of the righteous rejoiceth, And the lamp of the wicked is extinguished.

10 A vain man through pride causeth debate, And with the counselled [is] wisdom.

11 Wealth from vanity becometh little, And whoso is gathering by the hand becometh great.

12 Hope prolonged is making the heart sick, And a tree of life [is] the coming desire.

13 Whoso is despising the Word is destroyed for it, And whoso is fearing the Command is repayed.

14 The law of the wise [is] a fountain of life, To turn aside from snares of death.

15 Good understanding giveth grace, And the way of the treacherous [is] hard.

16 Every prudent one dealeth with knowledge, And a fool spreadeth out folly.

17 A wicked messenger falleth into evil, And a faithful ambassador is healing.

18 Whoso is refusing instruction -- poverty and shame, And whoso is observing reproof is honoured.

19 A desire accomplished is sweet to the soul, And an abomination to fools [is]: Turn from evil.

20 Whoso is walking with wise men is wise, And a companion of fools suffereth evil.

21 Evil pursueth sinners, And good recompenseth the righteous.

22 A good man causeth sons' sons to inherit, And laid up for the righteous [is] the sinner's wealth.

23 Abundance of food -- the tillage of the poor, And substance is consumed without judgment.

24 Whoso is sparing his rod is hating his son, And whoso is loving him hath hastened him chastisement.

25 The righteous is eating to the satiety of his soul, And the belly of the wicked lacketh!

Proverbs 14:1-35

Wise women contribute to establishing a home, while foolish women disrupt theirs through their own power.

Those who walk in righteousness show regard for God --- but to live in sin is to despise Him.

A rebel’s foolish talk assaults those listening --- but the wise man’s words are respected.

An empty stable stays clean—but there is more income with oxen..

A truthful witness doesn't lie; a false witness lives to lie.

A mocker doesn't find the wisdom he claims to be seeking, yet it comes easily to the man with smarts.

When seeking advice, stay away from fools or you will not hear what's right.

The wise man considers the future. The fool wraps himself in lies.

The common bond of rebels is a lack of remorse. The common bond of godly people is a desire for soul searching.

Only the doer can comprehend his own bitterness or joy—no one else can totally fathom it.

The palace of the wicked will perish; while the modest home of the godly will thrive.

Before every man there lies a direction that appears OK but eventually brings death.

Laughter cannot mask an injured soul. When the guffaw ends --- sorrow remains.

The backslider bores himself; the godly man’s life is full.

Only a simpleton believes everything! A prudent man comprehends a need for proof.

A wise man is cautious and avoids danger; a fool makes mistakes with great confidence.

A short fuse makes a fool. One with evil plans is not liked.

The simpleton is crowned with folly, but the wise man --- knowledge.

Evil men shall bow before the godly, and the wicked before the righteous

Even neighbors shun the poor, while the rich have many “friends.” But to despise the poor is sin. Blessed are those who offer assistance.

Those who plot evil are wrong, but those who plan good shall be granted mercy and enlightenment.

Work brings profit; endless discussion poverty!

Wise men are exulted for their wisdom; fools are ignored for their folly.

A witness who tells the truth saves good men from being sentenced, but a false witness is a waste.

Consideration for God provides a man with inner strength; his children have a place of refuge and safety.

Consideration of the Lord is a fountain of life; its waters keep a man from destruction.

A thriving population makes a king content; a dwindling nation is his undoing.

A wise man holds his temper. He knows that anger causes errors.

A relaxed attitude lengthens a man’s life; jealousy rots it away.

Anyone who oppresses the poor is insulting God his Creator. To help the poor brings honor to God.

The godly will see safety when they die, but the wicked are consumed by their sins.

Wisdom is worships in the hearts of men of common sense, but it must shout loudly before fools will pay attention.

Godliness exalts a nation, and goodness is a sin offering

A king is happy with servants who know what they are doing; he is angry with those who cause aggravation.

2 Whoso is walking in his uprightness is fearing Jehovah, And the perverted [in] his ways is despising Him.

3 In the mouth of a fool [is] a rod of pride, And the lips of the wise preserve them.

4 Without oxen a stall [is] clean, And great [is] the increase by the power of the ox.

5 A faithful witness lieth not, And a false witness breatheth out lies.

6 A scorner hath sought wisdom, and it is not, And knowledge to the intelligent [is] easy.

7 Go from before a foolish man, Or thou hast not known the lips of knowledge.

8 The wisdom of the prudent [is] to understand his way, And the folly of fools [is] deceit.

9 Fools mock at a guilt-offering, And among the upright -- a pleasing thing.

10 The heart knoweth its own bitterness, And with its joy a stranger doth not intermeddle.

11 The house of the wicked is destroyed, And the tent of the upright flourisheth.

12 There is a way -- right before a man, And its latter end [are] ways of death.

13 Even in laughter is the heart pained, And the latter end of joy [is] affliction.

14 From his ways is the backslider in heart filled, And a good man -- from his fruits.

15 The simple giveth credence to everything, And the prudent attendeth to his step.

16 The wise is fearing and turning from evil, And a fool is transgressing and is confident.

17 Whoso is short of temper doth folly, And a man of wicked devices is hated.

18 The simple have inherited folly, And the prudent are crowned [with] knowledge.

19 The evil have bowed down before the good, And the wicked at the gates of the righteous.

20 Even of his neighbour is the poor hated, And those loving the rich [are] many.

21 Whoso is despising his neighbour sinneth, Whoso is favouring the humble, O his happiness.

22 Do not they err who are devising evil? And kindness and truth [are] to those devising good,

23 In all labour there is advantage, And a thing of the lips [is] only to want.

24 The crown of the wise is their wealth, The folly of fools [is] folly.

25 A true witness is delivering souls, And a deceitful one breatheth out lies.

26 In the fear of Jehovah [is] strong confidence, And to His sons there is a refuge.

27 The fear of Jehovah [is] a fountain of life, To turn aside from snares of death.

28 In the multitude of a people [is] the honour of a king, And in lack of people the ruin of a prince.

29 Whoso is slow to anger [is] of great understanding, And whoso is short in temper is exalting folly.

30 A healed heart [is] life to the flesh, And rottenness to the bones [is] envy.

31 An oppressor of the poor reproacheth his Maker, And whoso is honouring Him Is favouring the needy.

32 In his wickedness is the wicked driven away, And trustful in his death [is] the righteous.

33 In the heart of the intelligent wisdom doth rest. And in the midst of fools it is known.

34 Righteousness exalteth a nation, And the goodliness of peoples [is] a sin-offering.

35 The favour of a king [is] to a wise servant, And an object of his wrath is one causing shame!

Proverbs 16:1-33

We may design our own plans, but the Lord provides the correct answer.

People may be good in their own eyes, but the Lord considers their motives.

Commit your actions to the Lord, and His purpose will succeed.

The Lord has created everything for His own purposes, even the wicked labors towards a day of disaster.

The Lord despises the arrogant; they will receive their just reward.

Unfailing love and truth make reparation for sin. By regarding the Lord, people avoid evil.

When people’s lives please the Lord, even enemies are peaceful with them.

Better to have little, with godliness, than to be a rich cheat.

We may design our plans, but the Lord determines our steps.

The king takes an oath; he must never judge unfairly.

The Lord demands accurate weights and measures; He sets the standards.

A righteous king detests wrongdoing, for his rule thrives on justice.

A good king is pleased with words from righteous lips; he prefers those who speak honestly.

The anger of the king is frightful; the wise will try to subdue it.

When the king is happy, there is enjoyment; his favor refreshes like a spring rain.

How much better to gain wisdom rather than gold, and good understanding than silver!

The path of the virtuous leads away from evil; whoever follows that direction is secure.

Pride goes before ruin, and conceit before a tumble.

Better to live humbly with the poor than to share confiscated goods with the proud.

Those regarding instruction will prosper ----- those trusting the Lord will be joyful.

The wise are known for their comprehension, and pleasant words are persuasive.

Discretion is a life-saver to those who have it, but punishment is wasted on fools.

From a wise mind comes wise discourse. His words spread understanding.

Kind words are like honey; enjoyment for the soul and nourishment for the body.

There is a path before everyone that seems OK, but it ends in destruction.

It is good for workers to have an appetite; an empty stomach is a good motivator.

Scoundrels stir up trouble; their words are a destructive wildfire.

A troublemaker plants seeds of contention; gossip destroys friendships.

Violent people mislead their companions, sending them down a harmful path.

With crafty eyes, people plan evil; with a smirk, they conspire.

Living to a ripe old age is a blessing; it is acquired through godly living.

Better to be patient than strong willed; better to have self-control than to capture a city.

We may toss the dice, but the Lord determines what is gained.

Young's Literal Translation (YLT)

1 Of man [are] arrangements of the heart, And from Jehovah an answer of the tongue.

2 All the ways of a man are pure in his own eyes, And Jehovah is pondering the spirits.

3 Roll unto Jehovah thy works, And established are thy purposes,

4 All things hath Jehovah wrought for Himself, And also the wicked [worketh] for a day of evil.

5 An abomination to Jehovah [is] every proud one of heart, Hand to hand he is not acquitted.

6 In kindness and truth pardoned is iniquity, And in the fear of Jehovah Turn thou aside from evil.

7 When a man's ways please Jehovah, even his enemies, He causeth to be at peace with him.

8 Better [is] a little with righteousness, Than abundance of increase without justice.

9 The heart of man deviseth his way, And Jehovah establisheth his step.

10 An oath [is] on the lips of a king, In judgment his mouth trespasseth not.

11 A just beam and balances [are] Jehovah's, His work [are] all the stones of the bag.

12 An abomination to kings [is] doing wickedness, For by righteousness is a throne established.

13 The delight of kings [are] righteous lips, And whoso is speaking uprightly he loveth,

14 The fury of a king [is] messengers of death, And a wise man pacifieth it.

15 In the light of a king's face [is] life, And his good-will [is] as a cloud of the latter rain.

16 To get wisdom -- how much better than gold, And to get understanding to be chosen than silver!

17 A highway of the upright [is], `Turn from evil,' Whoso is preserving his soul is watching his way.

18 Before destruction [is] pride, And before stumbling -- a haughty spirit.'

19 Better is humility of spirit with the poor, Than to apportion spoil with the proud.

20 The wise in any matter findeth good, And whoso is trusting in Jehovah, O his happiness.

21 To the wise in heart is called, `Intelligent,' And sweetness of lips increaseth learning.

22 A fountain of life [is] understanding to its possessors, The instruction of fools is folly.

23 The heart of the wise causeth his mouth to act wisely, And by his lips he increaseth learning,

24 Sayings of pleasantness [are] a honeycomb, Sweet to the soul, and healing to the bone.

25 There is a way right before a man, And its latter end -- ways of death.

26 A labouring man hath laboured for himself, For his mouth hath caused [him] to bend over it.

27 A worthless man is preparing evil, And on his lips -- as a burning fire.

28 A froward man sendeth forth contention, A tale-bearer is separating a familiar friend.

29 A violent man enticeth his neighbour, And hath causeth him to go in a way not good.

30 Consulting his eyes to devise froward things, Moving his lips he hath accomplished evil.

31 A crown of beauty [are] grey hairs, In the way of righteousness it is found.

32 Better [is] the slow to anger than the mighty, And the ruler over his spirit than he who is taking a city.

33 Into the centre is the lot cast, And from Jehovah [is] all its judgment!

Proverbs 17:1-28

Better stale crust with peace and quiet than a house full of feasting, and aggravation.

A prudent servant will lord over a disgraceful son and will share the inheritance as a family member.

The crucible for silver and the furnace for gold, but the Lord refines the heart.

A wicked person listens to lying lips; a liar pays attention to a destructive advice.

Whoever make light of the poor shows hatred towards their Maker; whoever gloats about disaster will not go unscathed.

Grandkids are a crown to the aged, and dads are the pride of their sons.

Eloquent lips are unlikely with a godless fool— much worse are lying lips to a ruler!

A bribe is seen as a charm by the one providing it; they think success will be the result.

Whoever would foster love keeps a mistake secret, but whoever repeats the matter ruins friendships.

Correction impresses a discerning person more than a hundred lashes impresses fool.

Evildoers instigate rebellion against God; the angel of death will be sent against such.

Better to meet a bear robbed of her cubs than a fool intent on mischief.

Evil will never exit the house of one who repays evil for good.

Starting a quarrel is like breaching a dam; so drop the issue before a dispute errupts.

Acquitting the guilty and condemning the innocent— the Lord considers both an obscenity.

Why should fools have money in hand to gain wisdom, when they are not able to comprehend it?

A friend always loves, and a brother is born for trying times.

One who has no sense shakes hands in pledge, but puts up security with a friend present.

Whoever loves a quarrel enjoys sin; whoever builds a high gate makes entrance easier during an attack.

One whose heart is corrupt does not mature; one whose tongue is perverse gets into trouble.

To have a fool for a child brings heartache; there is no joy for the parent of a godless fool.

A cheerful heart is good medicine, but a crushed spirit make one old.

The wicked accept bribes in secret to subvert the course of justice.

A discerning person keeps wisdom in focus, but a fool’s eyes wander everywhere.

A foolish son brings grief to his dad and bitterness to the one who bore him.

If imposing a fine on the innocent is not good, surely to flog honest officials is not right.

The one who has knowledge is reticent, and whoever has understanding is even-tempered.

Even fools are thought to be smart if they keep their mouths shut, and understanding if they just listen.

Young's Literal Translation (YLT)

1 Better [is] a dry morsel, and rest with it, Than a house full of the sacrifices of strife.

2 A wise servant ruleth over a son causing shame, And in the midst of brethren He apportioneth an inheritance.

3 A refining pot [is] for silver, and a furnace for gold, And the trier of hearts [is] Jehovah.

4 An evil doer is attentive to lips of vanity, Falsehood is giving ear to a mischievous tongue.

5 Whoso is mocking at the poor Hath reproached his Maker, Whoso is rejoicing at calamity is not acquitted.

6 Sons' sons [are] the crown of old men, And the glory of sons [are] their fathers.

7 Not comely for a fool is a lip of excellency, Much less for a noble a lip of falsehood.

8 A stone of grace [is] the bribe in the eyes of its possessors, Whithersoever it turneth, it prospereth.

9 Whoso is covering transgression is seeking love, And whoso is repeating a matter Is separating a familiar friend.

10 Rebuke cometh down on the intelligent More than a hundred stripes on a fool.

11 An evil man seeketh only rebellion, And a fierce messenger is sent against him.

12 The meeting of a bereaved bear by a man, And -- not a fool in his folly.

13 Whoso is returning evil for good, Evil moveth not from his house.

14 The beginning of contention [is] a letting out of waters, And before it is meddled with leave the strife.

15 Whoso is justifying the wicked, And condemning the righteous, Even both of these [are] an abomination to Jehovah.

16 Why [is] this -- a price in the hand of a fool to buy wisdom, And a heart there is none?

17 At all times is the friend loving, And a brother for adversity is born.

18 A man lacking heart is striking hands, A surety he becometh before his friend.

19 Whoso is loving transgression is loving debate, Whoso is making high his entrance is seeking destruction.

20 The perverse of heart findeth not good, And the turned in his tongue falleth into evil.

21 Whoso is begetting a fool hath affliction for it, Yea, the father of a fool rejoiceth not.

22 A rejoicing heart doth good to the body, And a smitten spirit drieth the bone.

23 A bribe from the bosom the wicked taketh, To turn aside the paths of judgment.

24 The face of the intelligent [is] to wisdom, And the eyes of a fool -- at the end of the earth.

25 A provocation to his father [is] a foolish son, And bitterness to her that bare him.

26 Also, to fine the righteous is not good, To smite nobles for uprightness.

27 One acquainted with knowledge is sparing his words, And the cool of temper [is] a man of understanding.

28 Even a fool keeping silence is reckoned wise, He who is shutting his lips intelligent!

Proverbs 18:1-24

A antagonist pursues selfish ends and against all logic incites quarrels.

Fools find no pleasure in comprehending but love to hear themselves talk.

Along with wickedness comes contempt, and with sin comes disappointment.

The words of the mouth extend deep into a man's heart, but the fountain of wisdom flows freely.

It is not good to favor the wicked and so deprive the innocent victim of justice.

The lips of fools bring them conflict, and their mouths invite punishment.

The mouths of fools are their overthrow, and their lips are a trap to their very lives.

The words of a gossip are like select delicacies; they penetrate to the inmost parts.

One who is lazy is akin to one who destroys.

The name of the Lord is a protective sanctuary; the righteous run to it and are saved.

The wealth of the rich is their security; they imagine it a wall too high to breach.

Before a downfall the heart is conceited, but humility comes ahead of distinction.

To answer before listening— lacks sense and brings shame.

The human spirit can handle sickness, but a crushed spirit who can survive?

The heart of the discerning gathers knowledge, for the ears of the wise are attuned .

A present opens the door and ushers the giver into the presence of the great.

In a lawsuit the first to speak seems right, until the cross-examination.

Casting the dice settles disputes and keeps strong opponents away from each other

A brother wronged is more tenacious than a secured city; disputes are like the barred gates of a citadel.

From the produce of his mouth a person’s stomach is filled; with the harvest of their lips they are satisfied.

The tongue has the power of both life and death, and those who take care of it will eat its fruit.

The man who finds a wife finds what is correct and receives the Lord's approval.

The poor beg for mercy, but the rich are harsh.

One who has fair weather friends soon comes to ruin, but there is a real friend who hangs closer than a sibling.

Young's Literal Translation (YLT)

1 For [an object of] desire he who is separated doth seek, With all wisdom he intermeddleth.

2 A fool delighteth not in understanding, But -- in uncovering his heart.

3 With the coming of the wicked come also hath contempt, And with shame -- reproach.

4 Deep waters [are] the words of a man's mouth, The fountain of wisdom [is] a flowing brook.

5 Acceptance of the face of the wicked [is] not good, To turn aside the righteous in judgment.

6 The lips of a fool enter into strife, And his mouth for stripes calleth.

7 The mouth of a fool [is] ruin to him, And his lips [are] the snare of his soul.

8 The words of a tale-bearer [are] as self-inflicted wounds, And they have gone down [to] the inner parts of the heart.

9 He also that is remiss in his work, A brother he [is] to a destroyer.

10 A tower of strength [is] the name of Jehovah, Into it the righteous runneth, and is set on high.

11 The wealth of the rich [is] the city of his strength, And as a wall set on high in his own imagination.

12 Before destruction the heart of man is high, And before honour [is] humility.

13 Whoso is answering a matter before he heareth, Folly it is to him and shame.

14 The spirit of a man sustaineth his sickness, And a smitten spirit who doth bear?

15 The heart of the intelligent getteth knowledge, And the ear of the wise seeketh knowledge.

16 The gift of a man maketh room for him, And before the great it leadeth him.

17 Righteous [is] the first in his own cause, His neighbour cometh and hath searched him.

18 The lot causeth contentions to cease, And between the mighty it separateth.

19 A brother transgressed against is as a strong city, And contentions as the bar of a palace.

20 From the fruit of a man's mouth is his belly satisfied, [From the] increase of his lips he is satisfied.

21 Death and life [are] in the power of the tongue, And those loving it eat its fruit.

22 [Whoso] hath found a wife hath found good, And bringeth out good-will from Jehovah.

23 [With] supplications doth the poor speak, And the rich answereth fierce things.

24 A man with friends [is] to show himself friendly, And there is a lover adhering more than a brother!

Proverbs 19:1-29
Better the poor whose ways are faultless, than a fool whose words are awkward.

Desire without understanding is not good — the abrupt will miss the mark!

A person’s own stupidity leads to their ruin, yet their heart blames the Lord.

Wealth attracts many friends, but even the closest friend of the poor person ignore them.

A false witness will not be unpunished, and whoever spouts lies will not remain free.

Many desire favor with a ruler, and everyone is the friend of a gift giver.

The poor are forgotten by all their relatives --- so much more do their friends avoid them! When the poor seek them they hide.

The one who gains wisdom enjoys life; the one who enjoys learning will soon prosper.

A false witness will not go unpunished, and whoever spouts lies will die.

It is not fitting for a fool to live like a king— how much worse for a servant to rule the manor!

A person’s wisdom fosters patience; it is to one’s honor to forgive an offense.

A king’s rage creates an uproar, but his favor is refreshing.

A foolish child is a father’s undoing, and a quarrelsome wife is an annoyance.

Houses and wealth are inherited from parents, but a sensible wife is a gift from GOD.

Laziness brings on deep sleep, and the lackadaisical go hungry.

Whoever keeps commandments keeps their life, but whoever shows contempt for their ways will die.

Whoever is kind to the poor lends to the Lord, and he will reward such.

Discipline your children, for that brings some hope; Ignore their indiscretions and you contribute to their death.

A hot-tempered person must pay the penalty; rescue them, and you will do it over and over...

Listen to advice and accept discipline, and in the end you will be counted among the wise. A person’s heart hold many plans, but the Lord’s intent prevails.

What people want is kindness; better to be poor than a liar/cheat.

The regard of the Lord promotes life; then one rests content, unworried concerning trouble.

A lazy person has no care of manners. they just feed their face.

Flog a mocker, and the simple will become cautious; scold the shrewd, and they will gain knowledge.

Whoever robs their father and drives out their mother is a child who brings shame and disgrace.

Close your ears to instruction, my child, and you will stray from knowledge.

A corrupt witness mocks justice, and the mouth of the wicked swallows evil.

Penalties are prepared for mockers, and whippings for the backs of fools.

Young's Literal Translation (YLT)

1 Better [is] the poor walking in his integrity, Than the perverse [in] his lips, who [is] a fool.

2 Also, without knowledge the soul [is] not good, And the hasty in feet is sinning.

3 The folly of man perverteth his way, And against Jehovah is his heart wroth.

4 Wealth addeth many friends, And the poor from his neighbour is separated.

5 A false witness is not acquitted, Whoso breatheth out lies is not delivered.

6 Many entreat the face of the noble, And all have made friendship to a man of gifts.

7 All the brethren of the poor have hated him, Surely also his friends have been far from him, He is pursuing words -- they are not!

8 Whoso is getting heart is loving his soul, He is keeping understanding to find good.

9 A false witness is not acquitted, And whoso breatheth out lies perisheth.

10 Luxury is not comely for a fool, Much less for a servant to rule among princes.

11 The wisdom of a man hath deferred his anger, And his glory [is] to pass over transgression.

12 The wrath of a king [is] a growl as of a young lion, And as dew on the herb his good-will.

13 A calamity to his father [is] a foolish son, And the contentions of a wife [are] a continual dropping.

14 House and wealth [are] the inheritance of fathers, And from Jehovah [is] an understanding wife.

15 Sloth causeth deep sleep to fall, And an indolent soul doth hunger.

16 Whoso is keeping the command is keeping his soul, Whoso is despising His ways dieth.

17 Whoso is lending [to] Jehovah is favouring the poor, And his deed He repayeth to him.

18 Chastise thy son, for there is hope, And to put him to death lift not up thy soul.

19 A man of great wrath is bearing punishment, For, if thou dost deliver, yet again thou dost add.

20 Hear counsel and receive instruction, So that thou art wise in thy latter end.

21 Many [are] the purposes in a man's heart, And the counsel of Jehovah it standeth.

22 The desirableness of a man [is] his kindness, And better [is] the poor than a liar.

23 The fear of Jehovah [is] to life, And satisfied he remaineth -- he is not charged with evil.

24 The slothful hath hidden his hand in a dish, Even unto his mouth he bringeth it not back.

25 A scorner smite, and the simple acts prudently, And give reproof to the intelligent, He understandeth knowledge.

26 Whoso is spoiling a father causeth a mother to flee, A son causing shame, and bringing confusion.

27 Cease, my son, to hear instruction -- To err from sayings of knowledge.

28 A worthless witness scorneth judgment, And the mouth of the wicked swalloweth iniquity.

29 Judgments have been prepared for scorners, And stripes for the back of fools!
