Isaiah 2 is also found in the Book of Mormon.

2 Nephi 12:

[1] The word that Isaiah, the son of Amoz, saw concerning Judah and Jerusalem:

[2] And it shall come to pass in the last days, when the mountain of the Lord's house shall be established in the top of the mountains, and shall be exalted above the hills, and all nations shall flow unto it.

[3] And many people shall go and say, Come ye, and let us go up to the mountain of the Lord, to the house of the God of Jacob; and he will teach us of his ways, and we will walk in his paths; for out of Zion shall go forth the law, and the word of the Lord from Jerusalem.

[4] And he shall judge among the nations, and shall rebuke many people: and they shall beat their swords into plow-shares, and their spears into pruning-hooks -- nation shall not lift up sword against nation, neither shall they learn war any more.

[5] O house of Jacob, come ye and let us walk in the light of the Lord; yea, come, for ye have all gone astray, every one to his wicked ways.

[6] Therefore, O Lord, thou hast forsaken thy people, the house of Jacob, because they be replenished from the east, and hearken unto soothsayers like the Philistines, and they please themselves in the children of strangers.

[7] Their land also is full of silver and gold, neither is there any end of their treasures; their land is also full of horses, neither is there any end of their chariots.

[8] Their land is also full of idols; they worship the work of their own hands, that which their own fingers have made.

[9] And the mean man boweth not down, and the great man humbleth himself not, therefore, forgive him not.

[10] O ye wicked ones, enter into the rock, and hide thee in the dust, for the fear of the Lord and the glory of his majesty shall smite thee.

[11] And it shall come to pass that the lofty looks of man shall be humbled, and the haughtiness of men shall be bowed down, and the Lord alone shall be exalted in that day.

[12] For the day of the Lord of Hosts soon cometh upon all nations, yea, upon every one; yea, upon the proud and lofty, and upon every one who is lifted up, and he shall be brought low.

[13] Yea, and the day of the Lord shall come upon all the cedars of Lebanon, for they are high and lifted up; and upon all the oaks of Bashan;

[14] And upon all the high mountains, and upon all the hills, and upon all the nations which are lifted up, and upon every people;

[15] And upon every high tower, and upon every fenced wall;

[16] And upon all the ships of the sea, and upon all the ships of Tarshish, and upon all pleasant pictures.

[17] And the loftiness of man shall be bowed down, and the haughtiness of men shall be made low; and the Lord alone shall be exalted in that day.

[18] And the idols he shall utterly abolish.

[19] And they shall go into the holes of the rocks, and into the caves of the earth, for the fear of the Lord shall come upon them and the glory of his majesty shall smite them, when he ariseth to shake terribly the earth.

[20] In that day a man shall cast his idols of silver, and his idols of gold, which he hath made for himself to worship, to the moles and to the bats;

[21] To go into the clefts of the rocks, and into the tops of the ragged rocks, for the fear of the Lord shall come upon them and the majesty of his glory shall smite them, when he ariseth to shake terribly the earth.

[22] Cease ye from man, whose breath is in his nostrils; for wherein is he to be accounted of?

And Isaiah 3 is also found in the Book of Mormon.

2 Nephi 13:

[1] For behold, the Lord, the Lord of Hosts, doth take away from Jerusalem, and from Judah, the stay and the staff, the whole staff of bread, and the whole stay of water --

[2] The mighty man, and the man of war, the judge, and the prophet, and the prudent, and the ancient;

[3] The captain of fifty, and the honorable man, and the counselor, and the cunning artificer, and the eloquent orator.

[4] And I will give children unto them to be their princes, and babes shall rule over them.

[5] And the people shall be oppressed, every one by another, and every one by his neighbor; the child shall behave himself proudly against the ancient, and the base against the honorable.

[6] When a man shall take hold of his brother of the house of his father, and shall say: Thou hast clothing, be thou our ruler, and let not this ruin come under thy hand --

[7] In that day shall he swear, saying: I will not be a healer; for in my house there is neither bread nor clothing; make me not a ruler of the people.

[8] For Jerusalem is ruined, and Judah is fallen, because their tongues and their doings have been against the Lord, to provoke the eyes of his glory.

[9] The show of their countenance doth witness against them, and doth declare their sin to be even as Sodom, and they cannot hide it. Wo unto their souls, for they have rewarded evil unto themselves!

[10] Say unto the righteous that it is well with them; for they shall eat the fruit of their doings.

[11] Wo unto the wicked, for they shall perish; for the reward of their hands shall be upon them!

[12] And my people, children are their oppressors, and women rule over them. O my people, they who lead thee cause thee to err and destroy the way of thy paths.

[13] The Lord standeth up to plead, and standeth to judge the people.

[14] The Lord will enter into judgment with the ancients of his people and the princes thereof; for ye have eaten up the vineyard and the spoil of the poor in your houses.

[15] What mean ye? Ye beat my people to pieces, and grind the faces of the poor, saith the Lord God of Hosts.

[16] Moreover, the Lord saith: Because the daughters of Zion are haughty, and walk with stretched-forth necks and wanton eyes, walking and mincing as they go, and making a tinkling with their feet --

[17] Therefore the Lord will smite with a scab the crown of the head of the daughters of Zion, and the Lord will discover their secret parts.

[18] In that day the Lord will take away the bravery of their tinkling ornaments, and cauls, and round tires like the moon;

[19] The chains and the bracelets, and the mufflers;

[20] The bonnets, and the ornaments of the legs, and the headbands, and the tablets, and the ear-rings;

[21] The rings, and nose jewels;

[22] The changeable suits of apparel, and the mantles, and the wimples, and the crisping-pins;

[23] The glasses, and the fine linen, and hoods, and the veils.

[24] And it shall come to pass, instead of sweet smell there shall be stink; and instead of a girdle, a rent; and instead of well set hair, baldness; and instead of a stomacher, a girding of sackcloth; burning instead of beauty.

[25] Thy men shall fall by the sword and thy mighty in the war.

[26] And her gates shall lament and mourn; and she shall be desolate, and shall sit upon the ground.

Isaiah 3:1-26

Understand what I am saying: The Lord God All-Powerful will take everything from Judah and Jerusalem. He will take away all the food and water.

He will take away all the distinguished and military. He will take away all the judges, the prophets, the soothsayers, and the elders.

He will take away the army officers and important officials. He will take away skilled counselors, magicians, and those who try to predict the future.

He says, “I will put children in charge of you. They will lead you.

The people will turn against each other. Young people will not respect their elders. The general public will not respect the leaders.”

In that day a man will charge one of his brothers from his own family and tell him, “You have a coat, so you will be our leader. You will be the leader over all this destruction.”

But the brother will refuse saying, “I cannot help you. I don’t have enough food or clothes for my own family. Forget it.”

This will happen because Jerusalem and Judah have fallen. They rebelled against the Lord ---- right in front of His glorious eyes.

They look guilty. They are like the people of Sodom; they don’t care who observes their sin. They will get exactly what they deserve.

Tell the good people who do what is right that good things will happen to them. They will be rewarded for what they do.

But the wicked people, will get what they deserve. They will get what they did to others.

Even children will defeat my people, and women will control them.

People, your guides lead you the wrong way, and they destroy the path you should follow.

Look, the Lord is READY to judge his people.

The Lord is ready to present the case against the elders and leaders of His people.

He says, “You people have burned the vineyard, and what you stole from the poor you still hold.

The Lord God All-Powerful states, "What gives you the right to hurt my people? What gives you the right to shove the faces of the poor into the dirt?” .

The Lord says, “The women in Zion have become haughty. They walk around with their noses in the air, acting like they are better than everyone. They flirt with their eyes and attract attention with their fashion jewelry as they pretentiously walk.”

The Lord will put sores on the heads of those women in Zion. The Lord will make them bald.

Then the Lord will take away everything they love: the ankle bracelets, the necklaces that look like the sun and moon, the earrings, arm bracelets, and veils, scarves, ankle chains, cummerbunds, bottles of perfume, charms, signet and nose rings, fine gowns, robes, veils, purses, mirrors, linen dresses, turbans, and long shawls.

Presently these women have sweet-smelling perfume, but it will get moldy and stink. Now they wear belts, but then they will have only ropes to wear. Now they have their hair fixed in fancy ways, but then their heads will be shaved—they will have no hair. Now they have party dresses, but then they will have only mourning clothes. They have beauty marks on their faces now, but then they will have another mark --- branded to show that they are slaves.

Your men will be slaughtered. Your heroes will die in war.

There will be crying and sadness in all public places. Jerusalem will sit empty, like a woman who has lost everything to thieves and robbers and now just sits on the ground and weeping.

Young's Literal Translation (YLT)

1 For, lo, the Lord, Jehovah of Hosts, Is turning aside from Jerusalem, And from Judah, stay and staff, Every stay of bread, and every stay of water.

2 Hero and man of war, judge and prophet, And diviner and elder,

3 Head of fifty, and accepted of faces, And counsellor, and the wise of artificers, And the intelligent of charmers.

4 And I have made youths their heads, And sucklings rule over them.

5 And the people hath exacted -- man upon man, Even a man on his neighbour, Enlarge themselves do the youths against the aged, And the lightly esteemed against the honoured.

6 When one layeth hold on his brother, [Of] the house of his father, [by] the garment, `Come, a ruler thou art to us, And this ruin [is] under thy hand.'

7 He lifteth up, in that day, saying: `I am not a binder up, And in my house is neither bread nor garment, Ye do not make me a ruler of the people.'

8 For stumbled hath Jerusalem, and Judah hath fallen, For their tongue and their doings [are] against Jehovah, To provoke the eyes of His glory.

9 The appearance of their faces witnessed against them, And their sin, as Sodom, they declared, They have not hidden! Wo to their soul, For they have done to themselves evil.

10 Say ye to the righteous, that [it is] good, Because the fruit of their doings they eat.

11 Wo to the wicked -- evil, Because the deed of his hand is done to him.

12 My people -- its exactors [are] sucklings, And women have ruled over it. My people -- thy eulogists are causing to err, And the way of thy paths swallowed up.

13 Jehovah hath stood up to plead, And He is standing to judge the peoples.

14 Jehovah into judgment doth enter With elders of His people, and its heads: `And ye, ye have consumed the vineyard, Plunder of the poor [is] in your houses.

15 What -- to you? ye bruise My people, And the faces of the poor ye grind.' An affirmation of the Lord, Jehovah of Hosts, And Jehovah saith:

16 `Because that daughters of Zion have been haughty, And they walk stretching out the neck, And deceiving [with] the eyes, Walking and mincing they go, And with their feet they make a tinkling,

17 The Lord also hath scabbed The crown of the head of daughters of Zion, And Jehovah their simplicity exposeth.

18 In that day doth the Lord turn aside The beauty of the tinkling ornaments, And of the embroidered works, And of the round tires like moons,

19 Of the drops, and the bracelets, and the mufflers,

20 Of the bonnets, and the ornaments of the legs, And of the bands, And of the perfume boxes, and the amulets,

21 Of the seals, and of the nose-rings,

22 Of the costly apparel, and of the mantles, And of the coverings, and of the purses,

23 Of the mirrors, and of the linen garments, And of the hoods, and of the vails,

24 And it hath been, instead of spice is muck, And instead of a girdle, a rope, And instead of curled work, baldness, And instead of a stomacher a girdle of sackcloth.

25 For instead of glory, thy men by sword do fall, And thy might in battle.

26 And lamented and mourned have her openings, Yea, she hath been emptied, on the earth she sitteth!

Isaiah 4:1-6

At that time, 7 women will corner one man and say, “We will get our own food and wear our own clothes. Just let us bear your name; take away our disgrace.”

at that time, the Lord's plant will be beautiful and wonderful; and the fruit of the land will be the pride and splendor of Israel's survivors.

Those left in Zion and remaining in Jerusalem will be called holy, and everyone in Jerusalem recorded for life.

When the Lord washes away the filth of the women of Zion and cleans Jerusalem from the blood shed in it with a blast of burning judgment, the Lord will create over the whole site of Mount Zion and over those gathered there a smoking cloud by day and a shining, flaming fire by night --- the Glory will be over everything like a wedding canopy.

This covering will provide shade during the day from the heat will also provide protection from both storm and rain.

Young's Literal Translation (YLT)

1 And taken hold have seven women on one man, In that day, saying, `Our own bread we do eat, And our own raiment we put on, Only, let thy name be called over us, Remove thou our reproach.'

2 In that day is the Shoot of Jehovah for desire and for honour, And the fruit of the earth For excellence and for beauty to the escaped of Israel.

3 And it hath been, he who is left in Zion, And he who is remaining in Jerusalem, `Holy' is said of him, Of every one who is written for life in Jerusalem.

4 If the Lord hath washed away The filth of daughters of Zion, And the blood of Jerusalem purgeth from her midst, By the spirit of judgment, and by the spirit of burning.

5 Then hath Jehovah prepared Over every fixed place of Mount Zion, And over her convocations, A cloud by day, and smoke, And the shining of a flaming fire by night, That, over all honour a safe-guard,

6 And a covering may be, For a shadow by day from drought, And for a refuge, and for a hiding place, From inundation and from rain!

Isaiah 5:1-30

I will sing to my loved one a song concerning his vineyard:
My loved one had a vineyard on a fertile hillside.

He tilled it and cleared it of stones and planted the best vines there.
He built a lookout tower there and constructed a winepress also.
Then he searched for a crop of good grapes, but it yielded only rotten fruit.

“Now you citizens in Jerusalem and Judah, reason with me regarding my vineyard.

What else could have been done for my vineyard than exactly what I did for it? When I looked for good grapes, why did it yield only bad?

Now this is what I will do to my vineyard: I will pull away its protection, and the vineyard will be destroyed. I will knock down its wall, and the vineyard will be crushed.

I will make it barren, neither pruned nor cultivated, and thicket will grow there. I will command the clouds not to water it.”

Now, the vineyard of the Lord Almighty is the nation of Israel. And these people of Judah are the vines He enjoys. He seeks justice, but found murder. Rather than righteousness, He heard cries of heartache.

Misery to those who steal farms to establish large estates till no space is left and you are without neighbors.

The Lord Almighty has informed Isaiah “Surely the vast estates will become desolate, the fine residences will be left unoccupied.

A ten-acre vineyard will produce barely enough wine for a single bath (about 9 gallons) and about 11 bushels of seed will yield only about 1 bushel of grain.

Misery to those who rise early in the morning to go binge drinking and stay up late at night till they are inebriated.

They have parties, music and drink, but no regard for what the Lord accomplishes --- no respect for the work of His hands.

As a result my people will go into exile for lack of forethought. Officials of rank will die hungery and the common people will barely survive.

Therefore Death awakens, opening wide its mouth; into it will fall nobles and the masses with all the arguers and partygoers.

The people will be humbled including the arrogant.

However the Lord Almighty will be exalted by this justice. The holy God will be proved holy by His righteous acts.

Then sheep will graze anywhere; lambs will feed among the ruins of the wealthy.

Misery to those who pull sin along with cords of deceit, and wickedness as with cart ropes.

To those who say, “Let God hurry; let him hurry his deed so we may observe it. The plan of the Holy One of Israel— let it come, to be witnessed, so we may believe.”

Misery to those who mock goodness and present sin as acceptable --- who exalt misunderstanding as truth and truth as lies --- who pronounce bitter as pleasant and sweetness as garbage.

Misery to those who imagine they are made wise by their own research and clever through their own values.

Misery to those who are heroes at guzzling wine and champions at concocting chasers.

Misery to those who acquit the guilty for bribes, but withhold justice for the innocent.

Therefore, as tongues of fire consume straw and as dry grass shrivels in the flames, so their roots will rot and their flowers blow away like dust; for they have rejected the law of the Lord Almighty
and hold in contempt the word of the Holy One of Israel.

Therefore the Lord’s anger rises against His people. With hand raised --- He takes them down.
The mountains shake, and the dead bodies are like garbage and trash in the streets.

Yet with all this, His anger is not abated. Hs has more to dish out.

He lifts up a rallying point for distant nations, He whistles for those far away. Here they come, fast and quick!

Not one of them grows tired or trips, they are all wide awake. Their uniforms are fit, not a sandal strap is broken.

Their equipment is ready; their horses’ hooves quickly clack, their chariot wheels spin.

Their roar is like that of the lion --- like young lions --- growling as they pounce their prey and carry it off with no one to rescue.

In that day they will roar over it like and ocean roaring. And if one observes the land, there is only darkness and distress; even the sun will be obscured by clouds.

Young's Literal Translation (YLT)

1 Let me sing, I pray you, for my beloved, A song of my beloved as to his vineyard: My beloved hath a vineyard in a fruitful hill,

2 And he fenceth it, and casteth out its stones, And planteth it [with] a choice vine, And buildeth a tower in its midst, And also a wine press hath hewn out in it, And he waiteth for the yielding of grapes, And it yieldeth bad ones!

3 And now, O inhabitant of Jerusalem, and man of Judah, Judge, I pray you, between me and my vineyard.

4 What -- to do still to my vineyard, That I have not done in it! Wherefore, I waited to the yielding of grapes, And it yieldeth bad ones!

5 And now, pray, let me cause you to know, That which I am doing to my vineyard, To turn aside its hedge, And it hath been for consumption, To break down its wall, And it hath been for a treading-place.

6 And I make it a waste, It is not pruned, nor arranged, And gone up have brier and thorn, And on the thick clouds I lay a charge, From raining upon it rain.

7 Because the vineyard of Jehovah of Hosts [Is] the house of Israel, And the man of Judah His pleasant plant, And He waiteth for judgment, and lo, oppression, For righteousness, and lo, a cry.

8 Wo [to] those joining house to house, Field to field they bring near, till there is no place, And ye have been settled by yourselves In the midst of the land!

9 By the weapons of Jehovah of Hosts Do not many houses a desolation become? Great and good without inhabitant!

10 For ten acres of vineyard do yield one bath, And an homer of seed yieldeth an ephah.

11 Wo [to] those rising early in the morning, Strong drink they pursue! Tarrying in twilight, wine inflameth them!

12 And harp, and psaltery, tabret, and pipe, And wine, have been their banquets, And the work of Jehovah they behold not, Yea, the work of His hands they have not seen.

13 Therefore my people removed without knowledge, And its honourable ones are famished, And its multitude dried up of thirst.

14 Therefore hath Sheol enlarged herself, And hath opened her mouth without limit. And gone down hath its honour, and its multitude, And its noise, and its exulting one -- into her.

15 And bowed down is the low, and humbled the high, And the eyes of the haughty become low,

16 And Jehovah of Hosts is high in judgment, And the Holy God sanctified in righteousness,

17 And fed have lambs according to their leading, And waste places of the fat ones Do sojourners consume.

18 Wo [to] those drawing out iniquity with cords of vanity, And as [with] thick ropes of the cart -- sin.

19 Who are saying, `Let Him hurry, Let Him hasten His work, that we may see, And let the counsel of the Holy One of Israel Draw near and come, and we know.'

20 Wo [to] those saying to evil `good,' And to good `evil,' Putting darkness for light, and light for darkness, Putting bitter for sweet, and sweet for bitter.

21 Wo [to] the wise in their own eyes, And -- before their own faces -- intelligent!

22 Wo [to] the mighty to drink wine, And men of strength to mingle strong drink.

23 Declaring righteous the wicked for a bribe, And the righteousness of the righteous They turn aside from him.

24 Therefore, as a tongue of fire devoureth stubble, And flaming hay falleth, Their root is as muck, And their flower as dust goeth up. Because they have rejected the law of Jehovah of Hosts, And the saying of the Holy One of Israel despised.

25 Therefore hath the anger of Jehovah burned among His people, And He stretcheth out His hand against it, And smiteth it, and the mountains tremble, And their carcase is as filth in the midst of the out-places. With all this His anger did not turn back, And still His hand is stretched out!

26 And He lifted up an ensign to nations afar off, And hissed to it from the end of the earth, And lo, with haste, swift it cometh.

27 There is none weary, nor stumbling in it, It doth not slumber, nor sleep, Nor opened hath been the girdle of its loins, Nor drawn away the latchet of its sandals.

28 Whose arrows [are] sharp, and all its bows bent, Hoofs of its horses as flint have been reckoned, And its wheels as a hurricane!

29 Its roaring [is] like a lioness, It roareth like young lions, And it howleth, and seizeth prey, And carrieth away safely, and there is none delivering.

30 And it howleth against it in that day as the howling of a sea, And it hath looked attentively to the land, And lo, darkness -- distress, And light hath been darkened by its abundance!

Isaiah 6:1-13

During the year King Uzziah died, I envisioned the Lord, high and exalted, enthroned; and the train of his robe filled the temple.

Above him were seraphim, each with six wings: with two wings they hid their faces, with two they covered their feet, and with two they flew.

And they called to each other: ‘Holy, holy, holy is TOTAL GOD; the complete earth is full of His glory.’

At the sound of their voices the doorposts and thresholds vibrated and the temple was filled with smoke.

I'm distressed!’ I cried. ‘I am ruined! I am unclean in word, and I live among a people as sinful as myself... My eyes witnessed Total God.’

Then one of the seraphim flew to me with a flaming coal in his hand, which he had snatched with tongs from the altar.

With it he touched my mouth and said, ‘See, this has touched your lips; your guilt is removed and your sin atoned.’

Then I heard the voice of the Lord saying, ‘Whom shall I send to go for us?’

And I said, ‘I'm here. Send me!’

He said, ‘Go and tell this people: ‘“Always hearing without comprehending. Always seeing without understanding.”

Make the heart of this people hard; make their ears dull and close their eyes. Otherwise they might just see, hear, and understand with their hearts ---- repenting and be healed.’

Then I said, ‘For how long will this continue, Lord?’ He replied ‘Until the cities are ruined and uninhabited, and the fields desolate, until the Lord has sent everyone far away and the land is abandoned.

And though a tenth remains on the land, it will again be laid waste. But as the cut down terebinth and oak leave behind a stump, so holy seed will remain behind in the land.’

Young's Literal Translation (YLT)

1 In the year of the death of king Uzziah -- I see the Lord, sitting on a throne, high and lifted up, and His train is filling the temple.

2 Seraphs are standing above it: six wings hath each one; with two [each] covereth its face, and with two [each] covereth its feet, and with two [each] flieth.

3 And this one hath called unto that, and hath said: `Holy, Holy, Holy, [is] Jehovah of Hosts, The fulness of all the earth [is] His glory.'

4 And the posts of the thresholds are moved by the voice of him who is calling, and the house is full of smoke.

5 And I say, `Wo to me, for I have been silent, For a man -- unclean of lips [am] I, And in midst of a people unclean of lips I am dwelling, Because the King, Jehovah of Hosts, have my eyes seen.'

6 And flee unto me doth one of the seraphs, and in his hand a burning coal, (with tongs he hath taken [it] from off the altar,)

7 and he striketh against my mouth, and saith: `Lo, this hath stricken against thy lips, And turned aside is thine iniquity, And thy sin is covered.'

8 And I hear the voice of the Lord, saying: `Whom do I send? and who doth go for Us?' And I say, `Here [am] I, send me.'

9 And He saith, `Go, and thou hast said to this people, Hear ye -- to hear, and ye do not understand, And see ye -- to see, and ye do not know.

10 Declare fat the heart of this people, And its ears declare heavy, And its eyes declare dazzled, Lest it see with its eyes, And with its ears hear, and its heart consider, And it hath turned back, and hath health.'

11 And I say, `Till when, O Lord?' And He saith, `Surely till cities have been wasted without inhabitant, And houses without man, And the ground be wasted -- a desolation,

12 And Jehovah hath put man far off, And great [is] the forsaken part in the heart of the land.

13 And yet in it a tenth, and it hath turned, And hath been for a burning, As a teil-tree, and as an oak, that in falling, Have substance in them, The holy seed [is] its substance!'

Isaiah 7:1-25

During the reign of Jotham's son Ahaz (grandson of Uzziah), Jerusalem was attacked by King Rezin of Syria and Remaliah's son King Pekah of Israel. But the city was not captured.

However, when it was heard by the royal court that Syria is allied with Israel against Judah, the king and his people trembled with fear as forest trees shiver in a storm.

Then the Lord told Isaiah, “Go out to meet King Ahaz, both you and your son Shear-jashub. You will find him at the end of the channel that leads from Gihon Spring to the upper reservoir, near the road leadind down to the bleaching field.

Tell him not to be upset or frightened by the fierce anger of those burned out has-beens, Rezin and Pekah.

Yes, the kings of Syria and Israel are gunning for you.

“They say, ‘We will invade Judah and cause her citizens to panic. Then we’ll fight our way into Jerusalem and install the son of Tabeel as their king."

However, the Lord God says that this will not succeed.

"Damascus will remain the capital of Syria alone, and King Rezin’s kingdom will not increase its territory. Within 65 years Ephraim will be crushed and broken.

Samaria will remain the capital of Ephraim only --- King Pekah’s power will not grow.

If you wish Me to protect you, you must learn to believe what I say.”

Not long after this, the Lord sent this further message for King Ahaz: “Ask Me for a sign, Ahaz, to prove that I will indeed crush your enemies as I've said. Ask anything you wish, in heaven or on earth.”

But Ahaz refused. “No, I cannot be bothered with God.”

Isaiah said, "O House of David, you aren’t satisfied to wear my patience; you wear on the Lord’s as well!

Regardless, the Lord himself will select the sign—a baby shall be born to a virgin! And she shall call him Immanuel (meaning, “God is with us”).

By the time this child is weaned and could understand right from wrong, both monarchs you fear —the kings of Israel and Syria*—will both be dead.*

But later, the Lord will bring a terrible curse on you, your nation and family. There will be terror such as has not been known since the division of Solomon’s empire into Israel and Judah—the mighty king of Assyria will arrive with his great army!

At that time the Lord will whistle for the army of Upper Egypt, and of Assyria too, to swarm down upon you like flies and destroy you, like bees to sting and to kill.

They will come in vast hordes, spreading across the whole land, even into desolate valleys, caves, and briar patches, not to mention your fertile land.

In that day the Lord will take this “razor”— namely these mercenary Assyrians you hired to save you—and use it on you to scrape off everything you have: your land, crops, and people.*

When they finally stop plundering, the whole nation will be a pastureland; whole flocks and herds will be destroyed, and a farmer will be fortunate to have a cow and two sheep left. But the abundant pastureland will yield plenty of milk, and anyone remaining will live on cheese and wild honey.

At that time the lush vineyards will become briars patches.

All the land will be one vast thornfield, a hunting arena overrun by wildlife.

No one will go to the fertile hillsides where once the gardens grew, for thorns will cover them; cattle, sheep/goats will graze there."

Young's Literal Translation (YLT)

1 And it cometh to pass in the days of Ahaz, son of Jotham, son of Uzziah, king of Judah, gone up hath Rezin king of Aram, and Pekah, son of Remaliah, king of Israel, to Jerusalem, to battle against it, and he is not able to fight against it.

2 And it is declared to the house of David, saying, `Aram hath been led towards Ephraim,' And his heart and the heart of his people is moved, like the moving of trees of a forest by the presence of wind.

3 And Jehovah saith unto Isaiah, `Go forth, I pray thee, to meet Ahaz, thou, and Shear-Jashub thy son, unto the end of the conduit of the upper pool, unto the highway of the fuller's field,

4 and thou hast said unto him: `Take heed, and be quiet, fear not, And let not thy heart be timid, Because of these two tails of smoking brands, For the fierceness of the anger of Rezin and Aram, And the son of Remaliah.

5 Because that Aram counselled against thee evil, Ephraim and the son of Remaliah, saying:

6 We go up into Judah, and we vex it, And we rend it unto ourselves, And we cause a king to reign in its midst -- The son of Tabeal.

7 Thus said the Lord Jehovah: It doth not stand, nor shall it be!

8 For the head of Aram [is] Damascus, And the head of Damascus [is] Rezin, And within sixty and five years Is Ephraim broken from [being] a people.

9 And the head of Ephraim [is] Samaria, And the head of Samaria [is] the son of Remaliah. If ye do not give credence, Surely ye are not stedfast.'

10 And Jehovah addeth to speak unto Ahaz, saying:

11 `Ask for thee a sign from Jehovah thy God, Make deep the request, or make [it] high upwards.'

12 And Ahaz saith, `I do not ask nor try Jehovah.'

13 And he saith, `Hear, I pray you, O house of David, Is it a little thing for you to weary men, That ye weary also my God?

14 Therefore the Lord Himself giveth to you a sign, Lo, the Virgin is conceiving, And is bringing forth a son, And hath called his name Immanuel,

15 Butter and honey he doth eat, When he knoweth to refuse evil, and to fix on good.

16 For before the youth doth know To refuse evil, and to fix on good, Forsaken is the land thou art vexed with, because of her two kings.

17 Jehovah bringeth on thee, and on thy people, And on the house of thy father, Days that have not come, Even from the day of the turning aside of Ephraim from Judah, By the king of Asshur.

18 And it hath come to pass, in that day, Jehovah doth hiss for a fly that [is] in the extremity of the brooks of Egypt, And for a bee that [is] in the land of Asshur.

19 And they have come, and rested all of them in the desolate valleys, And in holes of the rocks, and on all the thorns, And on all the commendable things.

20 In that day doth the Lord shave, By a razor that is hired beyond the river, By the king of Asshur, The head, and the hair of the feet, Yea, also the beard it consumeth.

21 And it hath come to pass, in that day, A man keepeth alive a heifer of the herd, And two of the flock,

22 And it hath come to pass, From the abundance of the yielding of milk he eateth butter, For butter and honey doth every one eat Who is left in the heart of the land.

23 And it hath come to pass, in that day, Every place where there are a thousand vines, At a thousand silverlings, Is for briers and for thorns.

24 With arrows and with bow he cometh thither, Because all the land is brier and thorn.

25 And all the hills that with a mattock are kept in order, Thither cometh not the fear of brier and thorn, And it hath been for the sending forth of ox, And for the treading of sheep!'

Isaiah 8:1-22

Jehovah said to Isaiah, to take a large tablet, and write on it the following: Maher shalal, hash baz [the spoil hurries, the prey speeds along].

Isaiah had it witnessed by reliable witnesses — the priest Uriah, and Jeberechiah's son Zechariah.

Isaiah then had relations with his wife; she became pregnant and gave birth to a son; and Jehovah told Isaiah to name him Maher Shalal Hash Baz.

Because prior to this child saying, ‘Daddy!’ and ‘Momma’, the riches of Damascus and the spoil of Samaria will be carried off and given to the king of Asshur.

Jehovah continued saying more to Isaiah:

“Since this people has rejected the gently flowing waters from Shiloah and takes joy in Rezin and the son of Remaliah;

Jehovah will bring upon them the mighty floodwaters of the [Euphrates] River — prophetically, the king of Asshur and his might. Such will rise above all its channels and overflow all its banks.

It will sweep through Judah, flooding everything continuing on. It will reach neck height, and its outspread wings will fill the whole expanse of the land. God is with us!

The people may protest; but they will be shattered. Distant lands many hear and arm themselves, but they will be shattered. Concoct a plan, but it will be futile. Make pledges, but it won’t happen; because God is with Israel.

Jehovah said to Isaiah, speaking heavy handedly, warning Isaiah not to live the way this people does:

Isaiah is not to regard as an alliance what this people calls alliance, and don’t fear what they fear or be dumbfounded;

But Jehovah of Hosts — consecrate Him! Let Him be the object of fear and awe!

He is there to be the refuge. But for both the houses of Israel God will be a stone to trip over, a rock obstructing their way, a trap and a snare for the citizens of Jerusalem.

Many of them will stumble and fall, be harmed, trapped and captured.

Isaiah is to Seal this document, and confine its teaching with those God instructed.

Isaiah is waiting on Jehovah, Who is hiding His presence from the house of Jacob. Isaiah is searching for God.

Meanwhile, Isaiah and the children whom Jehovah has provided Isaiah will be for Israel signs and wonders from Jehovah od Hosts residing on Mount Zion.

If it is suggested to Isaiah is to consult those jabbering mediums and fortune-tellers, Isaiah is to answer “Shouldn’t a people seek their God? Must the living ask the dead for teaching and instruction?”

For this unenlightened suggestion will eventually come .

Distressed and hungry they will pass through the land; and because they are famished they will grow angry and curse by their king and by their God.

But no matter if they look up [to God] or [down] at the earth, they will perceive only trouble, anguished gloom and pervasive darkness.

Young's Literal Translation (YLT)

1 And Jehovah saith unto me, `Take to thee a great tablet, and write upon it with a graving tool of man, To haste spoil, enjoy prey.'

2 And I cause faithful witnesses to testify to me, Uriah the priest, and Zechariah son of Jeberechiah.

3 And I draw near unto the prophetess, and she conceiveth, and beareth a son; and Jehovah saith unto me, `Call his name Maher-shalal-hash-baz,

4 for before the youth doth know to cry, My father, and My mother, one taketh away the wealth of Damascus and the spoil of Samaria, before the king of Asshur.'

5 And Jehovah addeth to speak unto me again, saying:

6 `Because that this people hath refused The waters of Shiloah that go softly, And is rejoicing with Rezin and the son of Remaliah,

7 Therefore, lo, the Lord is bringing up on them, The waters of the river, the mighty and the great, (The king of Asshur, and all his glory,) And it hath gone up over all its streams, And hath gone on over all its banks.

8 And it hath passed on into Judah, It hath overflown and passed over, Unto the neck it cometh, And the stretching out of its wings Hath been the fulness of the breadth of thy land, O Emmanu-El!

9 Be friends, O nations, and be broken, And give ear, all ye far off ones of earth, Gird yourselves, and be broken, Gird yourselves, and be broken.

10 Take counsel, and it is broken, Speak a word, and it doth not stand, Because of Emmanu-El!'

11 For thus hath Jehovah spoken unto me with strength of hand, and instructeth me against walking in the way of this people, saying,

12 `Ye do not say, A confederacy, To all to whom this people saith, A confederacy, And its fear ye do not fear, Nor declare fearful.

13 Jehovah of Hosts -- Him ye do sanctify, And He [is] your Fear, and He your Dread,

14 And He hath been for a sanctuary, And for a stone of stumbling, and for a rock of falling, To the two houses of Israel, For a gin and for a snare to the inhabitants of Jerusalem.

15 And many among them have stumbled and fallen, And been broken, and snared, and captured.

16 Bind up the testimony, Seal the law among My disciples.

17 And I have waited for Jehovah, Who is hiding His face from the house of Jacob, And I have looked for Him.

18 Lo, I, and the children whom Jehovah hath given to me, [Are] for signs and for wonders in Israel, From Jehovah of Hosts, who is dwelling in Mount Zion.

19 And when they say unto you, `Seek unto those having familiar spirits, And unto wizards, who chatter and mutter, Doth not a people seek unto its God? -- For the living unto the dead!

20 To the law and to the testimony! If not, let them say after this manner, `That there is no dawn to it.'

21 -- And it hath passed over into it, hardened and hungry, And it hath come to pass, That it is hungry, and hath been wroth, And made light of its king, and of its God, And hath looked upwards.

22 And unto the land it looketh attentively, And lo, adversity and darkness! -- Dimness, distress, and thick darkness is driven away, But not the dimness for which she is in distress!

Isaiah 9:1-21

Needless to say, that time of darkness and despair shall not continue eternally. Though soon the land of Zebulun and Naphtali will fall under God’s contempt and judgment, yet some day these locations, Galilee and northern Transjordan, where lies the route to the sea, will be filled with glory.

The people who maneuvered under darkness shall see a great Light—a Light that will spotlight on all those who live in the land of the shadow of death.

For Israel will again be great, filled with joy like that of reapers when the harvest arrives, and like that of men dividing up the plunder they captured.

God will break the shackles that bind His people and the whip that scourges them, just as He accomplished destroying the vast hordes of Midianites by Gideon’s little band.

One glorious day there will no longer be a need of battle gear; no more the bloodstained uniforms of war; all such will be burned.

For us a child is born; for us a son is provided; and the government shall rest on Him. These will be his royal titles: Wonderful, Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, The Prince of Peace.

His ever-expanding, peaceful government will not cease. He will rule with perfect fairness and justice through the throne of His ancestor David. He will bring true justice and peace to all the nations. This will happen because the Lord of heaven’s armies has dedicated himself to accomplish it!

The Lord has spoken out against Israel's bragging who insists that though their land lies in ruins now, they themselves are going to rebuild it better than before. The sycamore trees are cut down, but we will replace them with cedars!

The Lord's response to such bragging is to bring enemies upon them—the Syrians on the east and the Philistines on the west. With bared fangs they will eat up and spit out Israel. And even after this the Lord’s anger will not be satisfied—his will still be ready to slam them.

For after all this punishment, they will not repent and return to Him, the Lord of heaven’s armies.

Resultantly, the Lord, in one day, will destroy the leaders of Israel and the lying prophets.

For the leaders of His people have led them down the paths of chaos.

This is why the Lord has no joy in their young men and no mercy for even the widows and orphans, for they are all filthy-mouthed, wicked liars. That is why his anger is not satisfied, but his fist is still poised to crush them all.

He will consume all this wickedness --- thorns and briars. And the flames will consume the forests too, and send a vast cloud of smoke billowing up from their burning.

The land is blackened by flame, by the wrath of the Lord of heaven’s armies. The people are fuel for the fire. Each fights against his brother to steal his food but will never have enough. Finally they will even eat their own children!

Manasseh will target Ephraim and Ephraim will target Manasseh— both targeting Judah. Yet even after all of this, God’s anger is not yet satisfied. His hand is still strongly on them to crush them.

Young's Literal Translation (YLT)

1 As the former time made light The land of Zebulun and the land of Naphtali, So the latter hath honoured the way of the sea, Beyond the Jordan, Galilee of the nations.

2 The people who are walking in darkness Have seen a great light, Dwellers in a land of death-shade, Light hath shone upon them.

3 Thou hast multiplied the nation, Thou hast made great its joy, They have joyed before Thee as the joy in harvest, As [men] rejoice in their apportioning spoil.

4 Because the yoke of its burden, And the staff of its shoulder, the rod of its exactor, Thou hast broken as [in] the day of Midian.

5 For every battle of a warrior [is] with rushing, and raiment rolled in blood, And it hath been for burning -- fuel of fire.

6 For a Child hath been born to us, A Son hath been given to us, And the princely power is on his shoulder, And He doth call his name Wonderful, Counsellor, Mighty God, Father of Eternity, Prince of Peace.

7 To the increase of the princely power, And of peace, there is no end, On the throne of David, and on his kingdom, To establish it, and to support it, In judgment and in righteousness, Henceforth, even unto the age, The zeal of Jehovah of Hosts doth this.

8 A word hath the Lord sent into Jacob, And it hath fallen in Israel.

9 And the people have known -- all of it, Ephraim, and the inhabitant of Samaria, In pride and in greatness of heart, saying,

10 `Bricks have fallen, and hewn work we build, Sycamores have been cut down, and cedars we renew.'

11 And Jehovah setteth the adversaries of Rezin on high above him, And his enemies he joineth together,

12 Aram from before, and Philistia from behind, And they devour Israel with the whole mouth. With all this not turned back hath His anger, And still His hand is stretched out.

13 And the people hath not turned back unto Him who is smiting it, And Jehovah of Hosts they have not sought.

14 And Jehovah cutteth off from Israel head and tail, Branch and reed -- the same day,

15 Elder, and accepted of face, he [is] the head, Prophet, teacher of falsehood, he [is] the tail.

16 And the eulogists of this people are causing to err, And its eulogised ones are consumed.

17 Therefore, over its young men the Lord rejoiceth not, And its orphans, and its widows He pitieth not, For every one [is] profane, and an evil doer, And every mouth is speaking folly. With all this not turned back hath His anger, And still His hand is stretched out.

18 For burned as a fire hath wickedness, Brier and thorn it devoureth, And it kindleth in thickets of the forest, And they lift themselves up, an exaltation of smoke!

19 In the wrath of Jehovah of Hosts Hath the land been consumed, And the people is as fuel of fire; A man on his brother hath no pity,

20 And cutteth down on the right, and hath been hungry, And he devoureth on the left, And they have not been satisfied, Each the flesh of his own arm they devour.

21 Manasseh -- Ephraim, and Ephraim -- Manasseh, Together they [are] against Judah, With all this not turned back hath His anger. And still His hand is stretched out!

Isaiah 10:1-34

Misery to those who establish immoral decrees and establish tyrannical legislation, to deprive the penniless of justice and rob My people’s poor of their rights, stealing from widows and preying on orphans!

What will those who do such things do come Judgment Day, when calamity comes from afar? To whom will such turn for help? Where will such deposit this wealth, so as not to squat among prisoners
or fall with the slain?

Even after all this, His anger remains, His swatting hand still threatens.

Misery from Assyria, a rod of God's anger, and a staff in their hand I place My indignation.

Against a profane nation I send him, regarding a people of My wrath I charge him, To spoil their spoil, and to seize prey, And to make it as a mud hole of the street.

And he -- he imagines no way, And his heart reasons no possibility. For -- to destroy is in his heart, And to expel not a few nations.

For he declares, "Are not my princes really kings?

Is not Calno as Carchemish? Is not Hamath as Arpad? Is not Samaria as Damascus?"

As My hand dealt with worthless kingdoms, and their graven images, greater than Jerusalem and than Samaria,

Will I not -- as I have done to Samaria, and to her meaningless things, so do to Jerusalem and to her horrendous things?

And it happens, when the Lord fulfills all His work at mount Zion and in Jerusalem, I see concerning the fruit of the greatness of the heart of the king of Assyria. And concerning the glory of his haughty eyes.

For he declares, "By my own strength and wisdom I bring things about, for I'm smart, and I remove borders of the peoples, And their rulers mighty inhabitants I have destroyed.

My hand discovered the wealth of the nations, as if it were in a nest, as one gathers up abandoned eggs, I gathered up the whole earth. There were no baby chicks."

Does the axe glorify itself against the lumberjack? Does the saw magnify itself Against him who brandishes it? As a rod waving those lifting it up! As a staff lifting up that holding it aloft!

Therefore will the Lord of Hosts, send among his fat ones leanness, And under his honour He kindles a burning As the burning of a fire.

And the light of Israel becomes a fire, And his Holy One a flame, And it consums His thorns and briars in one day.

And the honour of his forest, and his fruitful field, from soul to flesh He consumes, and it has been as the fainting of a flag-waver.

And what remains of the trees of his forest are few, and a youth record them.

And it so happens, in that day, The remnant of Israel, And these that escaped of the house of Jacob, Do not depend on the smiter. They will depend on Jehovah, The Holy One of Israel, in truth.

A remnant will return of Jacob, back to the Mighty God.

For though this people Israel be as the sand of the sea, A remnant does return to it, A consumption determined, Overflowing in righteousness.

For what is consumed is determined by the The Lord, Jehovah of Hosts ---- in the land.

Therefore, the Lord, Jehovah of Hosts says, `Do not fear, my people, inhabiting Zion, because of this Assyria rod He applies to spank you, and his staff lifted up against you, in the way of Egypt.

For quickly, the indignation is completed And God's anger by their wearing out.

And awaking for him is Jehovah of Hosts, A scourge like the smiting of Midian at the rock Oreb, And his rod over the sea. And he hath lifted it in the way of Egypt.

And it hath come to pass, in that day, Turned is his burden from off their shoulder, And his yoke from off their neck, And destroyed is that yoke, because of prosperity.

He comes against Aiath, He passed over into Migron. At Michmash he sought his vessels.

They have gone over the passage, Geba they have made a lodging place, Trembled hath Rama, Gibeah where Saul fled.

Cry out daughter of Gallim, Give attention, Laish! answer her, Anathoth.

Gone is Madmenah, The inhabitants of the high places have hardened themselves.

This very day he is stopping at Nob; he is shaking his hand towards the mountain of the daughter of Zion, the hill of Jerusalem.

Listen, the Lord, Jehovah of Hosts, Is chopping a branch violently, And the tall are shortened, And the lofty abased,

And He hath gone round the briars of the forest with iron, And Lebanon by a mighty one falls!

Young's Literal Translation (YLT)

1 Wo [to] those decreeing decrees of iniquity, And writers who have prescribed perverseness.

2 To turn aside from judgment the poor, And to take violently away the judgment Of the afflicted of My people, That widows may be their prey, That the fatherless they may spoil.

3 And what do ye at a day of inspection? And at desolation? -- from afar it cometh. Near whom do ye flee for help? And where do ye leave your honour?

4 Without Me it hath bowed down In the place of a bound one, And in the place of the slain they fall. With all this not turned back hath His anger, And still His hand is stretched out.

5 Wo [to] Asshur, a rod of Mine anger, And a staff in their hand [is] Mine indignation.

6 Against a profane nation I send him, And concerning a people of My wrath I charge him, To spoil spoil, and to seize prey, And to make it a mucky mire.

7 And he -- he thinketh not so, And his heart reckoneth not so, For -- to destroy [is] in his heart, And to cut off nations not a few.

8 For he saith, `Are not my princes altogether kings?

9 Is not Calno as Carchemish? Is not Hamath as Arpad? Is not Samaria as Damascus?

10 As my hand hath got to the kingdoms of a worthless thing, and their graven images, [Greater] than Jerusalem and than Samaria,

11 Do I not -- as I have done to Samaria, And to her worthless things, So do to Jerusalem and to her grievous things?

12 And it hath come to pass, When the Lord doth fulfil all His work In mount Zion and in Jerusalem, I see concerning the fruit of the greatness Of the heart of the king of Asshur. And concerning the glory of the height of his eyes.

13 For he hath said, `By the power of my hand I have wrought, And by my wisdom, for I have been intelligent, And I remove borders of the peoples, And their chief ones I have spoiled, And I put down as a mighty one the inhabitants,

14 And my hand as to a nest Getteth to the wealth of the peoples, And as a gathering of forsaken eggs All the earth I -- I have gathered, And there hath not been one moving wing, Or opening mouth, or whispering.'

15 -- Doth the axe glorify itself Against him who is hewing with it? Doth the saw magnify itself Against him who is shaking it? As a rod waving those lifting it up! As a staff lifting up that which is not wood!

16 Therefore doth the Lord, the Lord of Hosts, Send among his fat ones leanness, And under his honour He kindleth a burning As the burning of a fire.

17 And the light of Israel hath been for a fire, And his Holy One for a flame, And it hath burned, and devoured his thorn And his brier in one day.

18 And the honour of his forest, and his fruitful field, From soul even unto flesh He doth consume, And it hath been as the fainting of a standard-bearer.

19 And the rest of the trees of his forest [are] few, And a youth doth write them.

20 And it hath come to pass, in that day, The remnant of Israel, And the escaped of the house of Jacob, Do not add any more to lean on its smiter, And have leant on Jehovah, The Holy One of Israel, in truth.

21 A remnant returneth -- a remnant of Jacob, Unto the Mighty God.

22 For though thy people Israel be as the sand of the sea, A remnant doth return of it, A consumption determined, Overflowing [with] righteousness.

23 For a consumption that is determined, The Lord, Jehovah of Hosts, Is making in the midst of all the land.

24 Therefore, thus said the Lord, Jehovah of Hosts, `Be not afraid, my people, inhabiting Zion, because of Asshur, With a rod he doth smite thee, And his staff lifteth up against thee, in the way of Egypt.

25 For yet a very little, And the indignation hath been completed, And Mine anger by their wearing out.

26 And awaking for him is Jehovah of Hosts, A scourge like the smiting of Midian at the rock Oreb, And his rod [is] over the sea, And he hath lifted it in the way of Egypt.

27 And it hath come to pass, in that day, Turned is his burden from off thy shoulder, And his yoke from off thy neck, And destroyed hath been the yoke, because of prosperity.

28 He hath come in against Aiath, He hath passed over into Migron, At Michmash he looketh after his vessels.

29 They have gone over the passage, Geba they have made a lodging place, Trembled hath Rama, Gibeah of Saul fled.

30 Cry aloud [with] thy voice, daughter of Gallim, Give attention, Laish! answer her, Anathoth.

31 Fled away hath Madmenah, The inhabitants of the high places have hardened themselves.

32 Yet to-day in Nob to remain, Wave its hand doth the mount of the daughter of Zion, The hill of Jerusalem.

33 Lo, the Lord, Jehovah of Hosts, Is lopping a branch with violence, And the high of stature are cut down, And the lofty are become low,

34 And He hath gone round the thickets of the forest with iron, And Lebanon by a mighty one falleth!
