Isaiah 30:1-33

Misery to the rebellious children, says the Lord, who take counsel and make alliances, but not from Me or My Spirit, so they can sin habitually

They walk down to Egypt and have not prayed , to strengthen themselves in the safety of Pharaoh
and to trust in the shadow of Egypt!

Therefore the Pharaoh being safe shall shame you and in trusting in big brother Egypt your humiliation.

For their princes were at Zoan ( a city on the Tanitic branch of the Nile, called by the Greeks Tanis), and their ambassadors arrived at Hanes (possibly a city somewhere in the delta nearer to Jerusalem than Tanis)

They all will be ashamed of a people who are unhelpful nor provide them value, but only shame and reproach.

The burden of the beasts of the Negev (is a dry and semi-desert region of southern Israel).

Through a land of problems & fear, were live the lioness and lion, the viper and fiery flying serpent (please see: http://www.genesispark.com/essays/fiery-serpent/),
they will carry their riches on the shoulders of young donkeys, and their treasures on the humps of camels, to a people who shall not see the value.

Because the Egyptians shall be of no help. Therefore, I have called her, “Rahab who does nothing.”

Now go, write to them on a tablet, and note it in a book, that it may serve as a lasting record.

This being a rebellious people, lying children, who refuse to listen to the law of the Lord.

They say to the seers,“You must not see visions,” and to the prophets, “You must not prophesy to us what is good; speak to us pleasant things, prophetic illusions.

Move over, take a different route, let us hear no more concerning the Holy One of Israel.”

Therefore, says the Holy One of Israel:

Because you despise this word and trust in oppression and perverseness, and become dependent on them. The result being that vice shall be to you as a rupture ready to collapse, swelling up in a high wall, an avalanche coming suddenly, instaniously.

He shall break it as the defective potter’s vessel is broken in pieces; He shall smash it to smithereens.

For the Lord God, the Holy One of Israel says: "In returning and rest you shall be saved; in quietness and in confidence shall be your strength. Yet you are not interested!"

You said, “No, for we will escape on horses!” So, flee! “And we will ride on fast horses!” So, those chasing after you shall be swift also!

1000 shall run at the threat of one man; at the threat of five you shall flee until those left will stick out like a sore thumb!

The Lord longs to be gracious to you, and therefore, He waits above to have mercy on you; for the Lord is just; blessed are all who desire Him.

Dear people in Zion, inhabitants in Jerusalem, you shall weep no more. He will be very gracious to you at the sound of your cry. When He hears it, He will answer you.

Though the Lord has given you adversity to eat and affliction to drink, yet He, your Teacher, will no longer hide Himself, but your eyes shall perceive your Teacher.

Your ears shall hear a word behind you, saying, “Walk this way,” whenever you turn right or left.

You shall destroy your graven your silver plated images, and your molded images inlayed with gold. You shall throw them away them as garbage, and say, “Be gone!”

Then God shall give you rain for your sown seed and fruitful increase from the earth. And it shall be lush and plentiful. At that time your cattle shall feed in spacious pastures. The oxen likewise and the young donkeys that work the ground shall eat dried feed, which has been tossed by shovel and fork.

There will be on every high mountain and high hill rivers and streams of waters that time of the great slaughter, when the towers fall.

Additionally, the light of the moon shall appear as bright as the sun presently, but the light of the sun shall be 7 times, as the light of seven days, in the day that the Lord binds up the breach of His people and heals the wound from His blow

See, the name of the Lord comes from afar, burning with anger, and its burden is heavy --- full of indignation, and His words as a devouring fire.

His breath is as a stream in flood stage reaching to the middle of the neck, to sift the nations with the sieve of vanity; and the people will be steered, as a horse but aiming them to do error.

You shall sing songs, as in the night when a festival is observed, and possess a light heart, as when one follows a piper to come into the mountain of the Lord, to the Mighty One of Israel.

The Lord shall cause His glorious voice to be heard, and shall reveal the descending of His arm with indignation of His anger, using a flame of a devouring fire, with scattering, cloudburst, and hailstones.

By the voice of the Lord the Assyrian shall be beaten down when God strikes with a rod.

Every punishing blow of the rod which the Lord shall lay on him shall be accompanied with tambourines and harps (The Assyrians would beat drums to mask the sound of the baby's cries they sacrificed to Moloch). And in battles, brandishing weapons, He will fight them.

Because Tophet (the baby sacrificial area to Moloch) has been long prepared, by the king it was been establish. He has made it deep and large, a heap of wood an d a raging fire; the breath of the Lord, like a stream of brimstone, ignites it.

Young's Literal Translation (YLT)

1 Wo [to] apostate sons, The affirmation of Jehovah! To do counsel, and not from Me, And to spread out a covering, and not of My spirit, So as to add sin to sin.

2 Who are walking to go down to Egypt, And My mouth have not asked, To be strong in the strength of Pharaoh, And to trust in the shadow of Egypt.

3 And the strength of Pharaoh Hath been to you for shame, And the trust in the shadow of Egypt confusion,

4 For in Zoan were his princes, And his messengers reach Hanes.

5 All he made ashamed of a people that profit not, Neither for help, not for profit, But for shame, and also for reproach!

6 The burden of the beasts of the south. Into a land of adversity and distress, Of young lion and of old lion, Whence [are] viper and flying saraph, They carry on the shoulder of asses their wealth, And on the hump of camels their treasures, Unto a people not profitable.

7 Yea, Egyptians [are] vanity, and in vain do help, Therefore I have cried concerning this: `Their strength [is] to sit still.'

8 No, go in, write it on a tablet with them, And on a book engrave it, And it is for a latter day, for a witness unto the age,

9 That a rebellious people [is] this, sons -- liars, Sons not willing to hear the law of Jehovah.

10 Who have said to seers, `Ye do not see,' And to prophets, `Ye do not prophesy to us Straightforward things, Speak to us smooth things, prophesy deceits,

11 Turn aside from the way, decline from the path, Cause to cease from before us the Holy One of Israel.'

12 Therefore, thus said the Holy One of Israel, Because of your kicking against this word, And ye trust in oppression, And perverseness, and rely on it,

13 Therefore is this iniquity to you as a breach falling, Swelled out in a wall set on high, Whose destruction suddenly, at an instant cometh.

14 And He hath broken it As the breaking of the potters' bottle, Beaten down -- He doth not spare, Nor is there found, in its beating down, A potsherd to take fire from the burning, And to draw out waters from a ditch.

15 For thus said the Lord Jehovah, The Holy One of Israel: `In returning and rest ye are saved, In keeping quiet and in confidence is your might, And ye have not been willing.

16 And ye say, No, for on a horse we flee? Therefore ye flee, And on the swift we ride! Therefore swift are your pursuers.

17 One thousand because of the rebuke of one, Because of the rebuke of five ye flee, Till ye have been surely left as a pole On the top of the mountain, And as an ensign on the height.

18 And therefore doth wait Jehovah to favour you, And therefore He is exalted to pity you, For a God of judgment [is] Jehovah, O the blessedness of all waiting for Him.

19 For the people in Zion dwell in Jerusalem, Weep thou not, weeping, Pitying, He pitieth thee at the voice of thy cry, When He heareth He answereth thee.

20 And the Lord hath given to you bread of adversity, And water of oppression. And thy directors remove no more, And thine eyes have seen thy directors,

21 And thine ear heareth a word behind thee, Saying, `This [is] the way, go ye in it,' When ye turn to the right, And when ye turn to the left.

22 And ye have defiled the covering of Thy graven images of silver, And the ephod of thy molten image of gold, Thou scatterest them as a sickening thing, `Go out,' thou sayest to it.

23 And He hath given rain [for] thy seed, With which thou dost sow the ground, And bread, the increase of the ground, And it hath been fat and plenteous, Enjoy do thy cattle in that day an enlarged pasture.

24 And the oxen and the young asses serving the ground, Fermented provender do eat, That one is winnowing with shovel and fan.

25 And there hath been on every high mount, And on every exalted hill, Rivulets -- streams of waters, In a day of much slaughter, in the falling of towers.

26 And the light of the moon hath been as the light of the sun, And the light of the sun is sevenfold, As the light of seven days, In the day of Jehovah's binding up the breach of His people, When the stroke of its wound He healeth.

27 Lo, the name of Jehovah is coming from far, Burning is His anger, and great the flame, His lips have been full of indignation, And His tongue [is] as a devouring fire.

28 And His breath [is] as an overflowing stream, Unto the neck it divideth, To sift nations with a sieve of vanity, And a bridle causing to err, [Is] on the jaws of the peoples.

29 Singing is to you as in a night sanctified for a festival, And joy of heart as he who is going with a pipe, To go in to the mountain of Jehovah, Unto the rock of Israel.

30 And caused to be heard hath Jehovah The honour of His voice, And the coming down of His arm He doth shew with the raging of anger, And the flame of a consuming fire, Scattering, and inundation, and hailstone.

31 For from the voice of Jehovah broken down [is] Asshur, With a rod He smiteth.

32 And every passage of the settled staff, That Jehovah causeth to rest on him, Hath been with tabrets, and with harps, And in battles of shaking he hath fought with it.

33 For, arranged from former time is Tophet, Even it for the king is prepared, He hath made deep, He hath made large, Its pile [is] fire and much wood, The breath of Jehovah, As a stream of brim stone, is burning in it![/quote]

Isaiah 31:1-9

Misery to those who head over to Egypt for help, who depend on horses and trust in the number of their vehicles, and in the power/ability of their horsemen, but do regard the Holy One of Israel, or seek help from the Lord.

Still He is wise and can create disaster. He does not withdraw his words. He will act against that evil nation, and those who assist evildoers.

But the Egyptians are only mortals and not God. Their horses are flesh--not spirit. When the Lord stretches out his hand, those who help will stumble and will fall. They will perish together.

This is what the Lord said to Isaiah:

“As a mighty lion roars, over its prey and is not frightened or disturbed by the shouts of an entire group of shepherds called together against it, so the Lord Almighty will come down to fight on Mount Zion and on its heights.

Like birds hovering overhead, the Lord Almighty will shelter Jerusalem --- shielding and delivering it. He will ‘pass over’ it and will rescue it.”

Return, Israelites, to the One you have rebelled against.

For at that time every one of Israel will reject the idols of silver and gold made by mere man who sins.

Assyria will fall by no human sword; a sword, not of mortals, will skewer them. They will flee before the sword and their young men will be made slaves.

Their fortress will fall because of terror; at the sight of the battle standard their commanders will panic,” declares the Lord, whose fiery furnace is in Zion/Jerusalem.

Young's Literal Translation (YLT)

1 Wo [to] those going down to Egypt for help, And on horses lean, And trust on chariots, because many, And on horsemen, because very strong, And have not looked on the Holy One of Israel, And Jehovah have not sought.

2 And He also [is] wise, and bringeth in evil, And His words He hath not turned aside, And He hath risen against a house of evil doers, And against the help of workers of iniquity.

3 And the Egyptians [are men], and not God, And their horses [are] flesh, and not spirit, And Jehovah stretcheth out His hand, And stumbled hath the helper, And fallen hath the helped one, And together all of them are consumed.

4 For thus said Jehovah unto me: `As growl doth the lion and the young lion over his prey, Called against whom is a multitude of shepherds, From their voice he is not affrighted, And from their noise he is not humbled; So come down doth Jehovah of Hosts To war on mount Zion, and on her height.

5 As birds flying, so doth Jehovah of Hosts Cover over Jerusalem, covering and delivering, Passing over, and causing to escape.'

6 Turn back to Him from whom sons of Israel Have deepened apostacy.

7 For in that day despise doth each His idols of silver, and his idols of gold, That your hands made to you -- a sin.

8 And fallen hath Asshur by sword, not of the high, Yea, a sword -- not of the low, doth consume him, And he hath fled for himself from the face of a sword, And his young men become tributary.

9 And [to] his rock from fear he passeth on, And affrighted by the ensign have been his princes -- an affirmation of Jehovah, Who hath a light in Zion, And who hath a furnace in Jerusalem!

Isaiah 32:1-20

Look, see a righteous King is coming, with righteous princes!

He will protect Israel from the wind storm. He will refresh her as a river in a desert and as the cooling shadow of a great rock in an exhausting land.

Then finally the eyes of Israel will regard God, and listen to His voice.

Even the quick tempered will be full of understanding, and those who stammer will speak out plainly.

In that day the ungodly, the atheists, will not be regarded as courageous! Misers will not be considered outstanding!

A fool speaks folly, And his heart contemplates evil, to do profanity and spreading lies with regards to God, to sap the soul of the hungry, and leaving the thirsty remaining parched.

And the miser -- his processes are evil. He contrives evil plans to corrupt the poor with masked lies, Even when the needy speak justly.

But noble men will be generous to others and will be blessed of God for all they do.

Listen, you women who are lazy; listen to me and I will explain your reward:

In a short time—in just a little more than a year—suddenly you’ll care. For the crops will fail -- the harvest will not take place.

Tremble, women of leisure; become concerned. Strip off your lovely clothes—wear sackcloth for your grief.

Beat your breasts in sorrow for those bountiful farms of yours that will soon be derelict, and for remembrances of past harvests.

For your lands will grow thorns and briars; your joyous homes and happy cities will be gone.

Palaces, mansions and crowded cities will be empty. Wild herds of donkeys and goats will graze upon the mountains among useless watchtowers, until at last the Spirit is poured down on Israel from heaven. Then once again grand harvests will arrive.

Then justice will rule throughout the land, and out of justice, peace. Quietness and confidence will reign to age end.

My people will live in safety, quietly at home. However the Assyrians will be destroyed and their cities ruined.

And God will greatly bless his people. Wherever they plant, bountiful crops will grow, and their flocks and herds will graze in green pastures.

Young's Literal Translation (YLT)

1 Lo, for righteousness doth a king reign, As to princes, for judgment they rule.

2 And each hath been as a hiding-place [from] wind, And as a secret hiding-place [from] inundation, As rivulets of waters in a dry place, As a shadow of a heavy rock in a weary land.

3 And not dazzled are the eyes of beholders, And the ears of hearers do attend.

4 And the heart of those hastened Understandeth to know, And the tongue of stammerers hasteth to speak clearly.

5 A fool is no more called `noble,' And to a miser it is not said, `rich;'

6 For a fool speaketh folly, And his heart doth iniquity, to do profanity, And to speak concerning Jehovah error, To empty the soul of the hungry, Yea, drink of the thirsty he causeth to lack.

7 And the miser -- his instruments [are] evil, He hath counselled wicked devices, To corrupt the poor with lying sayings, Even when the needy speaketh justly.

8 And the noble counselled noble things, And he for noble things riseth up.

9 Women, easy ones, rise, hear my voice, Daughters, confident ones, give ear [to] my saying,

10 Days and a year ye are troubled, O confident ones, For consumed hath been harvest, The gathering cometh not.

11 Tremble ye women, ye easy ones, Be troubled, ye confident ones, Strip and make bare, with a girdle on the loins,

12 For breasts they are lamenting, For fields of desire, for the fruitful vine.

13 Over the ground of my people thorn -- brier goeth up, Surely over all houses of joy of the exulting city,

14 Surely the palace hath been left, The multitude of the city forsaken, Fort and watch-tower hath been for dens unto the age, A joy of wild asses -- a pasture of herds;

15 Till emptied out on us is the Spirit from on high, And a wilderness hath become a fruitful field, And the fruitful field for a forest is reckoned.

16 And dwelt in the wilderness hath judgment, And righteousness in the fruitful field remaineth.

17 And a work of the righteousness hath been peace, And a service of the righteousness -- Keeping quiet and confidence unto the age.

18 And dwelt hath My people in a peaceful habitation, And in stedfast tabernacles, And in quiet resting-places.

19 And it hath hailed in the going down of the forest, And in the valley is the city low.

20 Happy [are] ye sowing by all waters, Sending forth the foot of the ox and the ass!

Isaiah 33:1-24

Misery for the destroyer --- yourself not destroyed! Misery to the betrayer --- yourself not betrayed! When you're through destroying, you will be destroyed. When you tire of betraying, they will betray you.

Jehovah show us mercy. We waited for you. Be their arm every morning, and save us in time of trouble.

At the sound a racket , the peoples wander off; when you exalt yourself, the nations are scattered.

Your spoil is gathered as if stripped by caterpillars---overrun it like a swarm of locusts.

The Lord is esteemed, for he dwells above all; He has filled Zion with justice and right.

He will be the stabilizing force of your times, the power of salvation, wisdom and knowledge, and fear of the Lord, which is His treasure.

Hear their brave men crying out for help! The diplomats of peace weep.

The highways are clear. There are no travelers. He has broken the covenant, detests the cities. He does not admire humanity.

The Lebanon is mourning and wasting away. Sharon is a wilderness, And stripped are Bashan and Carmel. “Now I will arise, I will exalt and lift myself up.” says the Lord.

You beget dust and give bring forth weeds, your breath is a fire devouring you.

The nations will be as if consumed into lime, like thorns hacked down and burned in fire.

You living in the distance, listen to what I have accomplished! You who are near, acknowledge My abilities!”

The sinners in Zion are scared; trembling possesses the ungodly. “Who of us exist with this devouring fire?

He who is righteous and whose speech is honest, scorns getting rich by extortion, doesn't accept bribes, doesn't contribute to talk of bloodshed, and shuts his eyes against at evil.

Such a person will live above, his refuge a fortress among the cliffs, his food and water in steady supply.

Your eyes will see the king in his splendor, they will look across a land stretching into the distance.

Your mind will meditate on the terror: “Where is the man who did the counting, the weighing, who numbered the towers?”

You will not see such uncompromising people, whose language is so obscure and whose stuttering speech you cannot comprehend.

Look at Zion, the city of our holidays; your eyes will see Jerusalem a secure abode, a tent that will not be removed, whose pegs will never be pulled out and whose guy-ropes will not be severed.

But there in His splendor the Lord will be with us, in a place of rivers and broad streams. But no boat with oars will venture there --- no majestic ship will sail by.

For the Lord is our judge, our lawgiver, our king. He will save us.

Because your ropes are loose, not supporting the mast, not spreading the sail. Then the plunder portioned out is so large that even the lame get part of the spoil.

No inhabitant will say, “I'm sick”; the people living there will be forgiven their sin.

Young's Literal Translation (YLT)

1 Wo, spoiler! and thou not spoiled, And treacherous! and they dealt not treacherously with thee, When thou dost finish, O spoiler, thou art spoiled, When thou dost finish dealing treacherously, They deal treacherously with thee.

2 O Jehovah, favour us, for thee we have waited, Be their arm, in the mornings, Yea, our salvation in time of adversity.

3 From the voice of a multitude fled have peoples, From thine exaltation scattered have been nations.

4 And gathered hath been your spoil, A gathering of the caterpillar, As a running to and fro of locusts is he running on it.

5 Set on high is Jehovah, for He is dwelling on high, He filled Zion [with] judgment and righteousness,

6 And hath been the stedfastness of thy times, The strength of salvation, wisdom, and knowledge, Fear of Jehovah -- it [is] His treasure.

7 Lo, `Their Ariel,' they have cried without, Messengers of peace do weep bitterly.

8 Desolated have been highways, Ceased hath he who passeth along the path, He hath broken covenant, He hath despised enemies, He hath not esteemed a man.

9 Mourned, languished hath the land, Confounded hath been Lebanon, Withered hath been Sharon as a wilderness, And shaken are Bashan and Carmel.

10 Now, do I arise, saith Jehovah, Now I am exalted, now I am lifted up.

11 Ye conceive chaff, ye bear stubble, Your spirit! -- fire devoureth you.

12 And peoples have been [as] burnings of lime, Thorns, as sweepings, with fire they burn.

13 Hear, ye far off, that which I have done, And know, ye near ones, My might.

14 Afraid in Zion have been sinners, Seized hath trembling the profane: Who doth dwell for us -- consuming fire, Who doth dwell for us -- burnings of the age?

15 Whoso is walking righteously, And is speaking uprightly, Kicking against gain of oppressions, Shaking his hands from taking hold on a bribe, Stopping his ear from hearing of blood, And shutting his eyes from looking on evil,

16 He high places doth inhabit, Strongholds of rock [are] his high tower, His bread hath been given, his waters stedfast.

17 A king in his beauty, see do thine eyes, They see a land afar off.

18 Thy heart doth meditate terror, Where [is] he who is counting? Where [is] he who is weighing? Where [is] he who is counting the towers?

19 The strong people thou seest not, A people deeper of lip than to be understood, Of a scorned tongue, there is no understanding.

20 See Zion, the city of our meetings, Thine eyes see Jerusalem a quiet habitation, A tent not taken down, Not removed are its pins for ever, And none of its cords are broken.

21 But there mighty [is] Jehovah for us, A place of rivers -- streams broad of sides, No ship with oars doth go into it, And a mighty ship doth not pass over it.

22 For Jehovah our judge, Jehovah our lawgiver, Jehovah our king -- He doth save us.

23 Left have been thy ropes, They strengthen not rightly their mast, They have not spread out a sail, Then apportioned hath been a prey of much spoil, The lame have taken spoil.

24 Nor doth an inhabitant say, `I was sick,' The people that is dwelling in it, is forgiven of iniquity!

What a lame excuse! Any of us here could just as easily claim the same thing. This whole thread is a massive, unconscionably and horribly inconsiderate waste of Dr. Shades' bandwidth at his expense.
No precept or claim is more likely to be false than one that can only be supported by invoking the claim of Divine authority for it--no matter who or what claims such authority.

Like you honestly are concerned for anybody else's expense. :surprised:    If that isn't hypocrisy..! I was for a time unable to logon (a little while back) and it seems that Dr. Shades' fixed the problem so that I could continue... And so there was the perfect opportunity to end your torment, and proof of God working in mysterious ways.

Isaiah 34:1-17

Come near, all nations, and listen! Pay attention, everyone! Let the earth hear, and everything that's a part of it, along with all it produces.

For Lord is angry with every nation, furious with all their armies; He is devoted to destroy them, handing them over to slaughter. Their slain will be garbage, the stench will rise from their corpses, the mountains be eroded with the flow of their blood.

The whole universe will decompose, the heavens themselves be rolled up like a scroll; all their array will blow away like a withering grape-leaf that falls from a vine or a withered fig from a fig tree.

The Lord's sword has consumed its fill in heaven; now it descends on Edom to judge them, the people God dooms to destruction.”

There is a sword that belongs to the Lord --- coated with blood, gorged on fat, dripping with the blood of lambs and goats-----the fat of ram kidneys. For the Lord has a sacrifice in Botzrah, a tremendous slaughter in Edom.

Wild oxen (young bulls with powerful mature ones) will die with them. Their country will be loaded with blood and their dust made greasy with fat.

For the Lord has appointed a day of vengeance, a year devoted to retribution for fighting against Zion.

Its streams will be changed to tar and dust to sulfur --- a land of burning tar.

This will not be quenched night or day. The smoke will rise forever. In all generations will it lie wasted ---no one will pass through it ever again.

Horned owl and hawk will control it, screech owl and raven will reside there. He will stretch over it the tape measure of confusion and the plumbline of the empty void.

Among its nobles, none will be named king, and all its princes amount to nothing.

Thorns will overgrow its palaces, nettles and thistles its fortifications; it will become a borrow for jackals and a pen for ostriches.

Wildcats and hyenas will gather there; and billy-goats call to each other. The screech owl will lurk there and locate a place to rest.

The hoot owl will nest, lay her eggs, hatch and gather her young in its shade. The vultures will assemble, every one to mate.

Consult the book of the Lord and read it: not one of these will be missing, none will be lacking a mate. For by His mouth he gave the order, and by His Spirit assembled them.

It is He who cast the lot for them and measured out their shares. They will possess it forever, and live there through to the end.

Young's Literal Translation (YLT)

1 Come near, ye nations, to hear, And ye peoples, give attention, Hear doth the earth and its fulness, The world, and all its productions.

2 For wrath [is] to Jehovah against all the nations, And fury against all their host, He hath devoted them to destruction, He hath given them to slaughter.

3 And their wounded are cast out, And their carcases cause their stench to ascend, And melted have been mountains from their blood.

4 And consumed have been all the host of the heavens, And rolled together as a book have been the heavens, And all their hosts do fade, As the fading of a leaf of a vine, And as the fading one of a fig-tree.

5 For soaked in the heavens was My sword, Lo, on Edom it cometh down, On the people of My curse for judgment.

6 A sword [is] to Jehovah -- it hath been full of blood, It hath been made fat with fatness, With blood of lambs and he-goats. With fat of kidneys of rams, For a sacrifice [is] to Jehovah in Bozrah, And a great slaughter in the land of Edom.

7 And come down have reems with them, And bullocks with bulls, And soaked hath been their land from blood, And their dust from fatness is made fat.

8 (For a day of vengeance [is] to Jehovah, A year of recompences for Zion's strife,)

9 And turned have been her streams to pitch, And her dust to brimstone, And her land hath become burning pitch.

10 By night and by day she is not quenched, To the age go up doth her smoke, From generation to generation she is waste, For ever and ever, none is passing into her.

11 And possess her do pelican and hedge-hog, And owl and raven dwell in her, And He hath stretched out over her A line of vacancy, and stones of emptiness.

12 [To] the kingdom her freemen they call, But there are none there, And all her princes are at an end.

13 And gone up her palaces have thorns, Nettle and bramble [are] in her fortresses, And it hath been a habitation of dragons, A court for daughters of an ostrich.

14 And met have Ziim with Aiim, And the goat for its companion calleth, Only there rested hath the night-owl, And hath found for herself a place of rest.

15 There made her nest hath the bittern, Yea, she layeth, and hath hatched, And hath gathered under her shadow, Only there gathered have been vultures, Each with its companion.

16 Seek out of the book of Jehovah, and read, One of these hath not been lacking, None hath missed its companion, For My mouth -- it hath commanded, And His spirit -- He hath gathered them.

17 And He hath cast for them a lot, And His hand hath apportioned [it] to them by line, Unto the age they possess it, To all generations they dwell in it!
