One lesson we should take away from this is that a single administrator/owner may not be such a great idea. Even if Thayne started turning the crank again there's no guarantee this wouldn't happen all over again in a year or two.
I agree.
The only other person I can think of to contact was the poster named "Froggie". She and Thayne were very good friends and worked together in the same office. I don't know if anyone has her contact information, but she is probably still in touch with Thayne and could maybe shed some light on what is going on with him and why he's not responding.
It would be nice if he'd share the email contact information for all those who registered at NOM, so anyone starting a new forum could shoot out an email informing everyone and inviting them to check it out. But that may be a breach of privacy agreement to do that (share email addresses).

No one should go to hell without first taking a Book of Mormon side tour to Jackson County, Missouri, and Chichen Itza in the Yucatán. With any luck, Everybody Wang Chung will be sitting across the aisle from you on the bus, anxiously awaiting the tour's Keynote Speaker and hoping to get his dowsing rod personally autographed.
Ok - if you will lead the Hell's assisted living tour.
Maybe we could just make it a tour about addressing the basics: -The church is #1 god - comes before God and family. -Money is to be spent blindly - no need to know what it's spent on. -No questioning authority, even when bi-polar (polarized) thinking is preached - relax and let the thinking be done for you. -Smile, even when you feel like crying (anti-depressants and other helpful refreshments will be served).
OMG! OMG! I just realized that if the NOM site has completely disappeared down the memory hole, there will be no record of the Beer101 thread or the What Are You Drinking Now thread

This cannot happen. Too much history and good information in those 100's of pages of posts.

Well the Freedom of Information Act process takes, I am guessing, about 10 years. I am sure that the NSA has a copy after all they are the only government agency that really listens.
I am truly sorry and I never have even read them.

Maybe the Strengthening Members Committee could help out. (Hey Dan, any help here? Come on, we know you're lurking. )

You may be saying that in gist, but I do believe there's something there (Wendy Watson and Sheri Dew)....
However, I am heartbroken if we loose all of the George Miller threads. I still refer to them often and he spent so much time writing his posts about Mormonism and Freemasonry. His thread about how he believed that Joseph desired a Freemason Women's organization and this inspired him to organize the Relief Society is classic and fascinating to read.
I did copy some of his threads I (such as the one on John C. Bennett), but I have to say that I still referred to his (and other's) threads often on NOM for a record of church history. I am very sad if it's all going to be deleted or unavailable now.
Surely some forward thinking NOM backed that stuff up? I just checked the Wayback Machine and I got all excited because it appeared to be up to date right up to March of this year, but when I clicked on a thread it couldn't be found.
I've been bugging George Miller to write his stuff down for years and he says he intends to. But, you know, life.
