O.M.G.
This cannot happen. Too much history and good information in those 100's of pages of posts.

However, I am heartbroken if we loose all of the George Miller threads. I still refer to them often and he spent so much time writing his posts about Mormonism and Freemasonry. His thread about how he believed that Joseph desired a Freemason Women's organization and this inspired him to organize the Relief Society is classic and fascinating to read.
I did copy some of his threads I (such as the one on John C. Bennett), but I have to say that I still referred to his (and other's) threads often on NOM for a record of church history. I am very sad if it's all going to be deleted or unavailable now.
Hagoth wrote:Surely some forward thinking NOM backed that stuff up? I just checked the Wayback Machine and I got all excited because it appeared to be up to date right up to March of this year, but when I clicked on a thread it couldn't be found.
I've been bugging George Miller to write his stuff down for years and he says he intends to. But, you know, life.
That board was so much bigger than one person. Those of us who read often and those of us who posted left part of our souls there. There was way too much to pick up and clip into Evernote, though I did in fact pick up some. Please, please, please, Thayne, tell us that the database of all those posts is securely backed up somewhere.
It was a reference to so many of us on so many topics. Where would I look to find a good marriage therapist? NOM. Where would I look for some excellent discussions of church history that were intelligently conducted, well moderated, and quite civil? Where else would I find pieces of wisdom that some of these many compassionate and capable posters were particularly inspired to give on a past thread?
I am so glad to see those of you have made it over here, but so much of what we built together over there is irreplaceable and has to be recovered.
