It's cool, Chap. I take solace in the fact that this guy knows little about me (or much else, for that matter). He can rant as much as he wants. From a certain perspective, it's pretty amusing.
I've come to realize also that many of the people who think America is so gosh darn great have never been anywhere else. So, ya know... ignorance is bliss, I guess.

You just say stuff, don't you? You're like subgenius, but for Leftists. I know so little about you because you're not really worth knowing much about. All I see is a hypocrite moaning about a country that gives him so much. I mean, count your blessings and all, and keep that passport warm so, when, you know... You leave...

Anyway. This is a great country. It's “F” ing awesome. I know positivity isn't really your thing, but at least you don't have to MWSHYCFGA because you're here. T'is the season to feel grateful for something!

Oh good. Can you give me a few examples of him being active in that regard?
I'm thinking on the scale of the universe here, of course. Does that mean that when we see a star go supernova, we can be sure that there were no inhabited planets nearby to get fried, or that if there were, then the inhabitants were bad dudes?
When you see a star go nova, you see a star go nova. We are it, and the rest is just an illustration of an infinite GOD.

Wow... wouldn't it be nice to live in this fairy tale land of sugar plums and candy canes. What comfort that would be.
So god picked Drumpf, did he? Bad day at the office? Was he feeling neglected? "Americns don't pray to me enough anymore. I need to send them a wake up call!"
Are you speaking of lesbians and gays? Wow... wouldn't it be nice to live in this fairy tale land of sugar plums and candy canes. What comfort that would be. Not sure where you're coming from --- or frankly where you're going with this one.

I did live through the Korean War, the Cold War, the Cuban Missile Crisis, an Assassination, the Vietnam War, etc... We're still here --- and it wasn't for any lack of trying....

I believe GOD taught both Mrs. Clinton and President elect Trump a lesson in humility with the very same stroke. Americans are having governmental values and bureaucracy shoved down their throats at taxpayers' expense, and they have had enough. Meanwhile all these officials live the "Life of Riley" with their fancy cars, golf, shore retreats, office suites, lunches, salaries, perks, elite healthcare, and retirement that even the wealthy could hope for. The Washington establishment really has no idea how the other 3/4's survive ---- and they likely don't really care --- not for about the last 50 years or so! They say (behind closed doors), "Take Bible and Prayer out of School and they will not learn discernment---we don't need people thinking we answer to some higher authority anyway." "Let them have ABORTIONS --- it will help to weed out the vermin." "Let them have gay marriage --- it will keep them suckers pacified, gain votes, and empty the bath houses."
Truth is stranger than fiction.

Immigrants have as much right to be concerned about Trump as the rest of us. In fact, coming from a country that may have more recently seen similar problems may make them even more qualified and informed in their commentary.
We hate to seem like we don’t trust every nut with a story, but there’s evidence we can point to, and dance while shouting taunting phrases.

It occurs to me that Doc has a general issue with minorities speaking up about what's going on in our country. The nonsense he's written on BLM makes that quite clear.
It would seem in Doc's world, unless you're Caucasian and speaking in glowing terms about the USA, you're just an ungrateful malcontent and don't deserve a voice.

Re: Can Our Democracy Survive This?
There it is. Gotta go to that racism card because... Reasons.
I don't really care if you think I'm racist (you most likely do) or a bigot (sure, why not?). Bottom line I do think this is an awesome country, and if you're constantly crap talking it I'm going to suggest you “F” the right off.
But. You won't. Because this country is far, far better than your home country. Fine by me. Stay and make this country better. Whatever. Don't be surprised that if you're constantly acting like a moaning baby someone is going to suggest you change your diapers.
Or get on a strong regimen of Wellbutrin. I hear that works for some...

Re: Can Our Democracy Survive This?
Doc, I don't think Some Schmo loves this country any less than you do. I agree (and I think he does too) that this is an awesome country in many ways with a great as yet not fully realized potential. He is rightly concerned, as am I, that with the election of Trump, this country is in grave danger of rapidly become much less awesome and much less democratic and more autocratic and authoritarian to the detriment of almost everyone not in the top one percent, especially women and minorities. Trump is very clearly in this mainly for himself, and is already proposing or taking actions that would greatly erode some of the basic rights guaranteed to all of us by the constitution, particularly our first amendment rights of freedom of speech, the press and religion. He is openly trying to halt or even reverse any progress towards ameliorating human caused climate change and transitioning to a more efficient, less dependent on fossil fuels energy economy. The potential damage he can accomplish in the next 4 years by his abysmal ignorance and selfishness on these issues will be very hard to recover from, if at all.
No precept or claim is more likely to be false than one that can only be supported by invoking the claim of Divine authority for it--no matter who or what claims such authority.
