John 21:1-25

Afterwards, Jesus appeared again to the disciples at Lake Tiberias. It happened thus:

Simon Peter and Thomas (meaning “twin”) were together with Nathanial from Cana in the Galilee, the sons of Zebedee, and two other disciples.

Simon Peter said, “I’m going fishing.” They said to him, “We’re going with you.” They went and climbed into the boat, but that night they didn’t catch anything.

However, just as dawn was breaking, Jesus stood on shore, but the disciples didn’t recognize Him.

He said to them, “You don’t have any fish, do you?” “No,” they replied.

He said to them, “Toss your net to starboard and you will catch some.” So they tossed their net, and there were so many fish in it that they couldn’t haul it aboard.

The disciple Jesus loved said to Peter, “It’s the Lord!” On hearing it was the Lord, Simon Peter threw on his cloak, because he was stripped for work, and dove into the lake;

but the other disciples followed in the boat, dragging the net full of fish; for they weren’t far from shore, only about a hundred yards.

When they stepped ashore, they saw a fire of burning coals with a fish on it, and some bread.

Jesus said to them, “Bring some of the fish you have just caught.”

Simon Peter went up and hawed the net ashore. It was loaded with fish, 153 of them; but even with such a quantity, the net didn't rip.

Jesus said to them, “Come and have breakfast.” None of the disciples dared to ask Him, “Who are you?” They realized it was the Lord.

Jesus came, took the bread and gave it to them, and did the same with the fish.

This was now the 3rd time Jesus had appeared to the disciples after being raised from the dead.

After breakfast, Jesus said to Simon Peter, “Simon, [son] of Jonas, do you love Me more than these?” He replied, “Yes, Lord, you know I’m your friend.” He said to him, “Feed my lambs.”

A 2nd time Jesus said to him, “Simon, [son] of Jonas, do you love Me?” He replied, “Yes, Lord, you know I’m your friend.” He said to him, “Shepherd my sheep.”

The 3rd time Jesus said to him, “Simon, [son] of Jonas, are you my friend?” Simon was hurt that Jesus questioned him a 3rd time: “Are you my friend?” So he replied, “Lord, you know everything! You know I’m your friend!” Jesus said to him, “Feed my sheep!

Yes, actually! I tell you, when you were younger, you put on your clothes and went where you wanted. But when you grow old, you will stretch out your hands, and someone else will dress you and carry you where you do not wish to be.”

He said this to indicate the style of death by which Peter would bring glory to God. Then Jesus said to him, “Follow me!”

Peter turned and saw the disciple Jesus especially loved following in back, the one who had rested against Jesus at the supper and had asked, “Who is the one who is betraying you?”

On seeing him, Peter remarked, “Lord, what about him?”

Jesus remarked to him, “If I want him to stay on until I come, what's it to you? You, follow me!”

Therefore the word spread among the brothers that that disciple would not die. However, Jesus never proposed that this disciple wouldn’t die, but simply, “If I desired him to stay on until I come, what's it your business?”

This one is the disciple who is testifying about these things and who has recorded them. And we know that his testimony is true.

But there are also many other things Jesus did; and if they were all to be recorded, I don’t imagine the whole world could contain the books that would have to be written!

Young's Literal Translation (YLT)
1 After these things did Jesus manifest himself again to the disciples on the sea of Tiberias, and he did manifest himself thus:

2 There were together Simon Peter, and Thomas who is called Didymus, and Nathanael from Cana of Galilee, and the [sons] of Zebedee, and two others of his disciples.

3 Simon Peter saith to them, `I go away to fish;' they say to him, `We go -- we also -- with thee;' they went forth and entered into the boat immediately, and on that night they caught nothing.

4 And morning being now come, Jesus stood at the shore, yet indeed the disciples did not know that it is Jesus;

5 Jesus, therefore, saith to them, `Lads, have ye any meat?'

6 they answered him, `No;' and he said to them, `Cast the net at the right side of the boat, and ye shall find;' they cast, therefore, and no longer were they able to draw it, from the multitude of the fishes.

7 That disciple, therefore, whom Jesus was loving saith to Peter, `The Lord it is!' Simon Peter, therefore, having heard that it is the Lord, did gird on the outer coat, (for he was naked,) and did cast
himself into the sea;

8 and the other disciples came by the little boat, for they were not far from the land, but as it were about two hundred cubits off, dragging the net of the fishes;

9 when, therefore, they came to the land, they behold a fire of coals lying, and a fish lying on it, and bread.

10 Jesus saith to them, `Bring ye from the fishes that ye caught now;'

11 Simon Peter went up, and drew the net up on the land, full of great fishes, an hundred fifty and three, and though they were so many, the net was not rent.

12 Jesus saith to them, `Come ye, dine;' and none of the disciples was venturing to inquire of him, `Who art thou?' knowing that it is the Lord;

13 Jesus, therefore, doth come and take the bread and give to them, and the fish in like manner;

14 this [is] now a third time Jesus was manifested to his disciples, having been raised from the dead.

15 When, therefore, they dined, Jesus saith to Simon Peter, `Simon, [son] of Jonas, dost thou love me more than these?' he saith to him, `Yes, Lord; thou hast known that I dearly love thee;' he saith to him, `Feed my lambs.'

16 He saith to him again, a second time, `Simon, [son] of Jonas, dost thou love me?' he saith to him, `Yes, Lord; thou hast known that I dearly love thee;' he saith to him, `Tend my sheep.'

17 He saith to him the third time, `Simon, [son] of Jonas, dost thou dearly love me?' Peter was grieved that he said to him the third time, `Dost thou dearly love me?' and he said to him, `Lord, thou hast known all things; thou dost know that I dearly love thee.' Jesus saith to him, `Feed my sheep;

18 verily, verily, I say to thee, When thou wast younger, thou wast girding thyself and wast walking whither thou didst will, but when thou mayest be old, thou shalt stretch forth thy hands, and another will gird thee, and shall carry [thee] whither thou dost not will;'

19 and this he said, signifying by what death he shall glorify God; and having said this, he saith to him, `Be following me.'

20 And Peter having turned about doth see the disciple whom Jesus was loving following, (who also reclined in the supper on his breast, and said, `Sir, who is he who is delivering thee up?')

21 Peter having seen this one, saith to Jesus, `Lord, and what of this one?'

22 Jesus saith to him, `If him I will to remain till I come, what -- to thee? be thou following me.' This word, therefore, went forth to the brethren that that disciple doth not die,

23 yet Jesus did not say to him, that he doth not die, but, `If him I will to remain till I come, what -- to thee?'

24 this is the disciple who is testifying concerning these things, and he wrote these things, and we have known that his testimony is true.

25 And there are also many other things -- as many as Jesus did -- which, if they may be written one by one, not even the world itself I think to have place for the books written. Amen.

You give no indication that you even wish to enter heaven, much less accept the Messiah. So what makes you discontented with any destination you selected?

I believe GOD originally created us as an illustration of His own triune form. Solomon seems a whole lot more intelligent than me or even you ---- so who exactly evolved from what?

I didn't select a destination. I am subject to the common destination of all lifeforms as are you.

Evolution has nothing to do with becoming more intelligent or advanced. The "fittest" are those which manage to produce more offspring that do a better job of surviving. Cockroaches are probably more fit than humans and will likely still be around while we become extinct.

Absolutely! Evolution has nothing to do with anything! I totally agree --- we were CREATED! There is a PLAN! God is in control!. Life is not the result of a series of "natural" arbitrary possibilities. There is no such thing a chance. There exists only Divine providence.

Acts 1:1-26

Dear Theophilos:

In the first book, I wrote about everything Jesus set out to do and teach,

until the day when, after furnishing instructions through the Holy Spirit to the apostles whom He selected, He was taken up into heaven.

After His death He revealed Himself to them and provided many convincing proofs that HE lived. During a period of 40 days they saw Him, and He spoke with them about the Kingdom of God.

At one of these group cessions, Jesus instructed them not to leave Jerusalem but to wait for “what the Father promised, which I explained to you.

For John (the Baptist) once immerse people in mere water; but in a few days, you will be immersed in the Holy Spirit!”

When they were together, they asked Him, “Lord, are you at this time going to restore self-rule to Israel?”

He answered, “You don’t need to know the dates or the times; the Father has kept these under His own authority.

But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit comes upon you. You will be My witnesses both in Jerusalem and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the ends of the earth!”

After saying this, He was assumed up before their eyes; and a cloud hid Him from their sight.

As they were staring into the sky after him, suddenly they observed 2 men dressed in white standing next to them.

The men said, “You Galileans! Why are you standing, staring into space? This Jesus, who has been taken away from you into heaven, will come back to you in just the same way as you saw Him go into heaven.”

Then they returned the Sabbath walk distance from the Mount of Olives to Jerusalem.

After entering the city, they went to the upstairs room where they were staying. The names of the emissaries were Peter, and James, and John, and Andrew, Philip, and Thomas, Bartholomew, and Matthew, James, of Alphaeus, and Simon the Zelotes, and Judas, of James;

These all devoted themselves single-mindedly to prayer, along with some women, including Mary (Jesus' mother), and His brothers.

During this period, when the group of believers numbered about 120, Peter stood up and addressed his fellow-believers:

“Brothers, the Holy Spirit spoke in advance through David about Judas, and these words of the disciples had to be fulfilled. He was guide for those who arrested Jesus —

he was one of us and had been assigned a part in our work.”

(With the money Judas received for his evil deed, he paid for a field; and there he fell to his death. His body bloated and burst open, and all his insides spilled out.

This became the talk of everyone in Jerusalem, so they called that field Hakal-D’ma — which in their language means “Field of Blood”).

“Now,” said Peter, “it is written in the book of Psalms,

‘Let his estate become desolate, let there be no one to live in it’; and ‘Let someone else take his place as a supervisor.’

Therefore, one of the men who have been with us continuously throughout the time the Lord Jesus traveled around with us,

from the time John was immersing people until the day Jesus was taken up from us — one of these must become a witness with us to His resurrection.”

They nominated two men — Joseph called Barsabas, who was surnamed Justus, and Matthias .

Then they prayed, “Lord, you know everyone’s heart. Show us which of these 2 individuals You have selected

to take over the work and the office of Apostle that Judas abandoned to go where He deserved to be.”

Then they drew lots to decide between the two, and the lot fell Matthias . So he was added to the 11 Apostles.

Young's Literal Translation (YLT)

1 The former account, indeed, I made concerning all things, O Theophilus, that Jesus began both to do and to teach,

2 till the day in which, having given command, through the Holy Spirit, to the apostles whom he did choose out, he was taken up,

3 to whom also he did present himself alive after his suffering, in many certain proofs, through forty days being seen by them, and speaking the things concerning the reign of God.

4 And being assembled together with them, he commanded them not to depart from Jerusalem, but to wait for the promise of the Father, which, [saith he,] `Ye did hear of me;

5 because John, indeed, baptized with water, and ye shall be baptized with the Holy Spirit -- after not many days.'

6 They, therefore, indeed, having come together, were questioning him, saying, `Lord, dost thou at this time restore the reign to Israel?'

7 and he said unto them, `It is not yours to know times or seasons that the Father did appoint in His own authority;

8 but ye shall receive power at the coming of the Holy Spirit upon you, and ye shall be witnesses to me both in Jerusalem, and in all Judea, and Samaria, and unto the end of the earth.'

9 And these things having said -- they beholding -- he was taken up, and a cloud did receive him up from their sight;

10 and as they were looking stedfastly to the heaven in his going on, then, lo, two men stood by them in white apparel,

11 who also said, `Men, Galileans, why do ye stand gazing into the heaven? this Jesus who was received up from you into the heaven, shall so come in what manner ye saw him going on to the heaven.'

12 Then did they return to Jerusalem from the mount that is called of Olives, that is near Jerusalem, a sabbath's journey;

13 and when they came in, they went up to the upper room, where were abiding both Peter, and James, and John, and Andrew, Philip, and Thomas, Bartholomew, and Matthew, James, of Alphaeus, and Simon the Zelotes, and Judas, of James;

14 these all were continuing with one accord in prayer and supplication, with women, and Mary the mother of Jesus, and with his brethren.

15 And in these days, Peter having risen up in the midst of the disciples, said, (the multitude also of the names at the same place was, as it were, an hundred and twenty,)

16 `Men, brethren, it behoved this Writing that it be fulfilled that beforehand the Holy Spirit spake through the mouth of David, concerning Judas, who became guide to those who took Jesus,

17 because he was numbered among us, and did receive the share in this ministration,

18 this one, indeed, then, purchased a field out of the reward of unrighteousness, and falling headlong, burst asunder in the midst, and all his bowels gushed forth,

19 and it became known to all those dwelling in Jerusalem, insomuch that that place is called, in their proper dialect, Aceldama, that is, field of blood,

20 for it hath been written in the book of Psalms: Let his lodging-place become desolate, and let no one be dwelling in it, and his oversight let another take.

21 `It behoveth, therefore, of the men who did go with us during all the time in which the Lord Jesus went in and went out among us,

22 beginning from the baptism of John, unto the day in which he was received up from us, one of these to become with us a witness of his rising again.'

23 And they set two, Joseph called Barsabas, who was surnamed Justus, and Matthias,

24 and having prayed, they said, `Thou, Lord, who art knowing the heart of all, shew which one thou didst choose of these two

25 to receive the share of this ministration and apostleship, from which Judas, by transgression, did fall, to go on to his proper place;'

26 and they gave their lots, and the lot fell upon Matthias, and he was numbered with the eleven apostles.

That could only work if DNA had nothing at all to do with your body's physical makeup. Given that DNA controls your developing physical body then the coincidence that the DNA that creates us as humans just happens to be that same arrangement of elements that shows we are all related and descend from a common ancestor is sufficient to disprove special creation, except of the common ancestor perhaps, but that is not your version of creation.

As already stated, belief and assertions have no effect upon reality as it is. To discover that, requires scientific investigation. You are happy to remain in ignorance of those results apparently.

GOD Created DNA. God Created all the building blocks. GOD also gave to all living things uniqueness. It is this uniqueness that you have misapplied and labelled evolution.

I'm not going to argue with you regarding evolution. There is no indication that the civilized world of today is the product of more intelligent individuals or that having leisure time is in fact turning "modern man" into an imbecile. Stephen Hawking would not have survived with his affliction had he been born a hundred years ago. It seems to me that GOD's perfect timing gave Mr Hawking some extra time. Unfortunately, he seems to be contemplating under the false assumption that there is no GOD. Time will tell if he ever gets an "Ahah!" moment ------- perhaps when he is launched into space --- maybe...

More assertion and belief? Again they have nothing to do with getting a grip on reality. You must look at the evidence to do that. The evidence, as I already pointed out, does not support special creation of DNA for specially (independently created) created flora and fauna.

GOD also gave to all living things uniqueness.

Uniqueness is a matter of degree. You are unique from your siblings, but have much in common with them compared to a dog. But you have much in common with a dog when compared to a cucumber. And you have much in common with a cucumber when compared to a rock.

It is this uniqueness that you have misapplied and labelled evolution.

You mean misinterpreted? Hardly. The evidence for the process lies within the DNA itself. If you would study the topic from a reliable source you would see it for yourself. But you have already decided the outcome without doing so.

I'm not going to argue with you regarding evolution.

Well good, because you can't. You only quote nonsense from trash sites like Answers in Genesis.

There is no indication that the civilized world of today is the product of more intelligent individuals

Well the degree of difference becomes greater the farther back in time you look. We would not expect any great differences in human intelligence over the past 6,000 years. There would be differences in accumulated knowledge, sure.

or that having leisure time is in fact turning "modern man" into an imbecile.

Mankind will be much smarter the sooner you can get us into the next dark age with your fellow zealots?

Stephen Hawking would not have survived with his affliction had he been born a hundred years ago.

Stephan Hawking is who he is as the result of the particular sperm and egg that combined to make him. Does god get involved with the sperm and eggs? Does the decision of when to have sex by one's parents cause god a great deal of grief and trouble here?

It seems to me that GOD's perfect timing gave Mr Hawking some extra time.

It seems you are confused about whose timing matters here. :lol:

Unfortunately, he seems to be contemplating under the false assumption that there is no GOD. Time will tell if he ever gets an "Ahah!" moment ------- perhaps when he is launched into space --- maybe...

Oh I'm sure! :rolleyes:

Acts 2:1-47

The festival of Shavu‘Old Testament/Pentecost arrived, and the believers all gathered together in one location.

Suddenly there came a sound from the sky like the roar of a violent wind, and it filled the entire house where they were sitting.

Then they observed what appeared like tongues of fire, which separated and came to rest on each one of them.

They were all filled with the Holy Spirit and began to communicate in different languages, as the Spirit enabled them to speak.

Now there were staying in Jerusalem religious Jews from every nation under heaven.

When they heard this sound, a crowd gathered; they were confused, because each one heard the believers speaking in his own language.

Totally amazed, they asked, “How is this possible? Aren’t all these people who are speaking Galilean?

How is it that we hear them speaking in our native languages?

We are Parthians, Medes, Elamites; residents of Mesopotamia, Judean, Cappadocia, Pontus, Asia,

Phrygia, Pamphylia, Egypt, the parts of Libya near Cyrene; visitors from Rome;

Jews by birth and proselytes; Jews from Crete and from Arabia. . . ! How is it that we hear them speaking in our own languages about the great things God has done?”

Amazed and confused, they all went on asking each other, “What is the meaning of this?”

But others made fun of them and said, “They’ve just had too much wine!”

Then Peter stood up with the 11 and raised his voice to address them: “You Judeans, and all of you visiting Jerusalem! Let me tell you what this means! Listen carefully to me!

“These people aren’t drunk, as you suppose — it’s only nine in the morning.

No, this is what was spoken about through the prophet Joel:

The Lord says: “In the end of the Age, I will pour out from My Spirit upon everyone. Your sons and daughters will prophesy, your young men will see visions, your old men will dream dreams.

Even on my slaves, both men and women, will I pour out from My Spirit in those days; and they will prophesy.

I will perform miracles in the sky above and signs on the earth below — blood, fire and thick smoke.

The sun will darken and the moon will appear bloody before the great and fearful Day of the Lord arrives.

And then, whoever calls on the name of the Lord will be saved.”’

“Men of Israel! Listen to this! Jesus from Nazareth was a man demonstrated to you to have been from God by the powerful works, miracles and signs that God performed through Him in your presence. You yourselves know this.

This man was arrested in accordance with God’s preordained plan and foreknowledge; and, through the vehicle of persons not bound by the Law, you nailed Him up on a stake and killed him!

“But God has raised Him up and freed Him from the suffering of death; it was impossible that death could keep its hold upon Him.

For David says this about him:

‘I saw the Lord always before me, for he is at my right hand, so that I will not be swayed.

For this reason, my heart was glad and my tongue rejoiced. And now my body too will live on in absolute trust

that You will not abandon me to Hell or let your Holy One see decay.

You have made known to me the ways of life. You will fill me with joy by your presence.’

“Brothers, I know I can spell it out to you -- frankly. The patriarch David died and was buried — his tomb is with us to this day.

Therefore, since he was a prophet and knew that God had sworn an oath to him that one of his descendants would sit on his throne,

he was speaking early on concerning the resurrection of the Messiah, that it was He who was not abandoned in Hell and whose flesh did not decay.

God raised up this Jesus! And we are all witnesses of it!

Moreover, He has been exalted to the right hand of God; has received from the Father what He promised, namely, the Holy Spirit; and has poured out this gift, which you are both observing and hearing.

For David did not ascend into heaven. But he says,

‘Adonai said to my Lord, “Sit at my right hand until I make your enemies a footstool for your feet.”’

Therefore, let the whole house of Israel know beyond doubt that God has made Him both Lord and Messiah — this Jesus, whom you executed on a stake!”

On hearing this, they were stung in their hearts; and they said to Peter and the other Apostles, “Brothers, what should we do?”

Peter answered them, “Turn from sin, return to God, and each of you be immersed on the authority of Jesus the Messiah into forgiveness of your sins, and you will receive the gift of the Holy Spirit!

For the promise is for you, your children, and those at a distance — as many as the Lord our God may call!”

He pressed his case with many other arguments and kept pleading with them, “Save yourselves from this perverse generation!”

So those who accepted what he said were immersed, and there were added to the group that day approximately 3000 people.

They continued faithfully in the teaching of the apostles, in fellowship, in breaking bread and in the prayers.

Everyone was filled with awe, and many miracles and signs took place through the apostles.

All those trusting Jesus stayed together and shared everything in common;

in fact, they sold their property and possessions and distributed the proceeds to all who were in need.

Continuing faithfully and with singleness of purpose to meet in the Temple courts daily, and breaking bread in their several homes, they shared their food in joy and simplicity of heart,

praising God and having the respect of all the people. And day after day the Lord kept adding to them those who were being saved.

Young's Literal Translation (YLT)

1 And in the day of the Pentecost being fulfilled, they were all with one accord at the same place,

2 and there came suddenly out of the heaven a sound as of a bearing violent breath, and it filled all the house where they were sitting,

3 and there appeared to them divided tongues, as it were of fire; it sat also upon each one of them,

4 and they were all filled with the Holy Spirit, and began to speak with other tongues, according as the Spirit was giving them to declare.

5 And there were dwelling in Jerusalem Jews, devout men from every nation of those under the heaven,

6 and the rumour of this having come, the multitude came together, and was confounded, because they were each one hearing them speaking in his proper dialect,

7 and they were all amazed, and did wonder, saying one unto another, `Lo, are not all these who are speaking Galileans?

8 and how do we hear, each in our proper dialect, in which we were born?

9 Parthians, and Medes, and Elamites, and those dwelling in Mesopotamia, in Judea also, and Cappadocia, Pontus, and Asia,

10 Phrygia also, and Pamphylia, Egypt, and the parts of Libya, that [are] along Cyrene, and the strangers of Rome, both Jews and proselytes,

11 Cretes and Arabians, we did hear them speaking in our tongues the great things of God.'

12 And they were all amazed, and were in doubt, saying one unto another, `What would this wish to be?'

13 and others mocking said, -- `They are full of sweet wine;'

14 and Peter having stood up with the eleven, lifted up his voice and declared to them, `Men, Jews! and all those dwelling in Jerusalem, let this be known to you, and harken to my sayings,

15 for these are not drunken, as ye take it up, for it is the third hour of the day.

16 `But this is that which hath been spoken through the prophet Joel:

17 And it shall be in the last days, saith God, I will pour out of My Spirit upon all flesh, and your sons and your daughters shall prophesy, and your young men shall see visions, and your old men shall dream dreams;

18 and also upon My men-servants, and upon My maid-servants, in those days, I will pour out of My Spirit, and they shall prophesy;

19 and I will give wonders in the heaven above, and signs upon the earth beneath -- blood, and fire, and vapour of smoke,

20 the sun shall be turned to darkness, and the moon to blood, before the coming of the day of the Lord -- the great and illustrious;

21 and it shall be, every one -- whoever shall call upon the name of the Lord, he shall be saved.

22 `Men, Israelites! hear these words, Jesus the Nazarene, a man approved of God among you by mighty works, and wonders, and signs, that God did through him in the midst of you, according as also ye yourselves have known;

23 this one, by the determinate counsel and foreknowledge of God, being given out, having taken by lawless hands, having crucified -- ye did slay;

24 whom God did raise up, having loosed the pains of the death, because it was not possible for him to be held by it,

25 for David saith in regard to him: I foresaw the Lord always before me -- because He is on my right hand -- that I may not be moved;

26 because of this was my heart cheered, and my tongue was glad, and yet -- my flesh also shall rest on hope,

27 because Thou wilt not leave my soul to hades, nor wilt Thou give Thy Kind One to see corruption;

28 Thou didst make known to me ways of life, Thou shalt fill me with joy with Thy countenance.

29 `Men, brethren! it is permitted to speak with freedom unto you concerning the patriarch David, that he both died and was buried, and his tomb is among us unto this day;

30 a prophet, therefore, being, and knowing that with an oath God did swear to him, out of the fruit of his loins, according to the flesh, to raise up the Christ, to sit upon his throne,

31 having foreseen, he did speak concerning the rising again of the Christ, that his soul was not left to hades, nor did his flesh see corruption.

32 `This Jesus did God raise up, of which we are all witnesses;

33 at the right hand then of God having been exalted -- also the promise of the Holy Spirit having received from the Father -- he was shedding forth this, which now ye see and hear;

34 for David did not go up to the heavens, and he saith himself: The Lord saith to my lord, Sit thou at my right hand,

35 till I make thy foes thy footstool;

36 assuredly, therefore, let all the house of Israel know, that both Lord and Christ did God make him -- this Jesus whom ye did crucify.'

37 And having heard, they were pricked to the heart; they say also to Peter, and to the rest of the apostles, `What shall we do, men, brethren?'

38 and Peter said unto them, `Reform, and be baptized each of you on the name of Jesus Christ, to remission of sins, and ye shall receive the gift of the Holy Spirit,

39 for to you is the promise, and to your children, and to all those afar off, as many as the Lord our God shall call.'

40 Also with many more other words he was testifying and exhorting, saying, `Be saved from this perverse generation;'

41 then those, indeed, who did gladly receive his word were baptized, and there were added on that day, as it were, three thousand souls,

42 and they were continuing stedfastly in the teaching of the apostles, and the fellowship, and the breaking of the bread, and the prayers.

43 And fear came on every soul, many wonders also and signs were being done through the apostles,

44 and all those believing were at the same place, and had all things common,

45 and the possessions and the goods they were selling, and were parting them to all, according as any one had need.

46 Daily also continuing with one accord in the temple, breaking also at every house bread, they were partaking of food in gladness and simplicity of heart,

47 praising God, and having favour with all the people, and the Lord was adding those being saved every day to the assembly.
