Zip tie a bag over my head? WTF, my life is being threatened over here!
Believe me you have no idea how strong the urge was.
As I said in a previous post (I think) there were multiple issues moving under the surface here. One is how frustrated I feel when I see adults making comments regarding children that I know aren't necessarily based on knowledge but rather speculation. The frustration comes from the...
"These kids don't come with operator's manuals you know!"
Type thinking matched with my knowing that they indeed DO come with operator's manuals only the manuals are in the hands of professionals whose professional demands are so great that they cannot take time to devote themselves to parent education unless they are specifically tasked for that and who the heck is going to do that when parents often seem more willing to sign up for digital photography instead of a child development class at any given community college or university as an elective.
If I ruled the world, every expectant parent would be
required by law to take a child development class (that's one semester folks) at the same time they are opting for childbirth classes, methods of feeding and by god, let's make sure that car seat is up to safety standards and not expired!
And if I really ruled the world of education, child development classes would be part of every high school (minimum, actually I'd go for intergenerational education at least Pre-K through 12) curriculum.
And I knew that if I took a certain road with you, you'd be at least receptive to hearing me out (and Savannah herself could read it) because (here's another issue) if you had met me face to face in real life you would have judged me by my appearance right up until the point where I sat down, opened my mouth and started teaching you. I guarantee it because...
"Oh she's so cute!"
Oh my god,
she knows stuff.
^^ That's not arrogance talking. That's the voice of experience. ;-)
