There is variance in Democratic opinion, but there's no reason to believe that ND Democrats support the Kavanaugh nomination or that supporting it wouldn't depress overall Democratic turnout in North Dakota for Heitkamp. If the argument is that virtually all ND Democrats support or don't care if Kavanugh is nominated, that's implausible given national trends and certainly not in evidence to conclude. It's entirely possible that she loses more Democrats by discouraging their support than she gains in Republicans by casting a yes vote. Just because there's more Republicans in the state doesn't mean both sides are going to be equally moved by her behavior. In fact, since Doc Cam's thesis is actually that she would gain enough Republicans to win, which might require a double digit shift in Republican voting intentions towards her, it just has to be not enough.
Maybe these democratic senators in purple areas know a few things that you don't.
She is going to vote against his nomination and already cast a preliminary vote accordingly. You're arguing as though she did the opposite. DocCam is not a Democratic Senator from a purple state, North Dakota is not a purple state, and even if those things were true, it wouldn't make it any more reasonable to think Heitkamp could secure her victory with a yes vote.

Them and most people in America. What does Doc think, did he read it that way too? Take a stroll through Twitter, you can see people on all sides of the political spectrum who interpreted her words to mean that. You are in the weird minority. And I don't care how Keyser interpreted it, she has brain damage, remember? Who cares. She's in hiding because her "friend" sent a mob to her house. Whatever she does or doesn't say is subject to influences we do and don't know about. I'm done with this line of discussion. You're deranged and unpleasant to talk to. You act as though I'm a total moron to interpret her words the way I do, yet millions upon millions of other people agree with me. A reasonable person would concede there must be something to it. "Oh, I could see how maybe you're interpret it that way." But instead you go on and on and on, "Waterdog is just a turd munching puppy who's brain hasn't formed." You accuse me of relying on a narrow set of fringe sources, and yet are seemingly unaware that most people out there are in fact interpreting her words as I do. Which suggests you are the one in a bubble, not me.
I don’t think you’re a moron. I think you’re disingenuous. Show me a survey that says most people who watched the hearing came away thinking Ford was saying she was brain damaged. Sure, once someone figured out this slur and started pushing it, it lit up the right wing Twitter streams. Cuz, just like you, they aren’t interested in what’s true — they’re interested in winning and nothing else.
Wait! You were the one who claimed Keyser took the comment that way. Now you back off it. This is your pattern. You spin, slant, misrepresent and fabricate. Then, when called on it, you try and change the subject.
You and Cam. Anyone who pushes back on nonsense you post is “deranged.” Of course you find talking to me unpleasant. I don’t just roll my eyes at your hyper partisan, conspiracy theory nonsense. I take it seriously, check it out, and where appropriate show exactly what you’ve done.
Now, how bout you post a link to those survey results you must be basing your claims on.

Looks like the WSJ decided to headline Kavanaugh's win with a rape pun:

Yes, because some posters here calling people rapists is so measured and decent. C'mon.
Of course you find talking to me unpleasant.
For what it's worth you're generally one of the most level-headed posters here. Although, I think you really went all in on this Kavanaugh thing.

I think no matter what anyone posts that supports the notion that this was a failed hit by Democrat partisans we're just not going to get anyone who leans Left admitting as much. This was 100% a smear job by Democrat partisans. No conspiracy needed other than what D's were conspiring to do.

That's weird. I wonder why Manchin would vote to confirm in a purple state... I sure hope no one accuses him of being a rapist now that he's run afoul of Democrat partisans.

The consolation in all this is the idiots who support Republicans are going to suffer from this as much as anyone else.

WV is the most Republican state in the entire country. Its not "purple." And his position in that state is completely different than Heitkamp's in ND. He's up around the same % Heitkamp is down. If you are now walking back your dubious claim that a yes vote on Kavanaugh will guarantee Heitkamp's victory in ND to a yes vote from Manchin in WV is better for his election odds than a no vote, then congrats on saying something not as off the ranch.

I see EA is still in rare form creating arguments and positions that literally don't exist and then defeating them. I can't tell if he's an Internet Don Quixote or, wait, yes. Yes he's an Internet Don Quixote.
Lessee.... WV... West... Virginia... 1/2 Senators are Democrat and > than 1 in 3 in their state senate is Democrat. No Democrat reps, though. In the spirit of bridge building I'm willing to move away from my claim that WV is purple and will call it... Rurple.
As a reminder, out of all the 121 terms of statewide office that have been regularly elected since 1932, only seven were lost by the Democrats.
But, whatever. EA says something is so and it must be totes the truth!

West Virginia's coal miners used to be a solid blue. The United Mine Workers were a radical and militant union. During the Great Depression the state housed a collectivist community founded by Eleanor Roosevelt.
Since 'King Coal' has become the fuel of the past, the union can't save your job. The union has lost its power, and the environmentalists are to blame. How else could you get a guy like Don Blankenship running for Governor?
