Orrin Hatch honored by narcissistic Trump

Post by _moksha »

Utah Sen. Orrin Hatch honored with nation’s highest civilian medal as Trump says, "He liked me right from the beginning and therefore I like him".

I can see why a good Mormon boy like Orrin Hatch would like Trump right from the beginning. What is there to not like about Trump? He already represents everything the gospel preaches: honesty, compassion, humility, sexual morality, service to others, honesty in his dealings, obedience to his ecclesiastical leaders. He's like that golden contact you dream of meeting on your mission. I assume Hatch has given Trump a Book of Mormon.

Riiigght! Great bit of sarcasm there! I wonder how many, if any, will not recognize how sarcastic you were being when you posted that. You reminded me of an instance when a Mormon youth group I was with on a Temple trip to the Salt Lake Temple was treated to an Inspirational talk by Orrin Hatch about the importance of not voting for or supporting political candidates of questionable morality, especially sexual morality. What an incredible hypocrite! Maybe he meant that advice to apply only to Democrats who were sexually immoral. We know that Republicans mercilessly excoriate Democrats who are sexually immoral, yet seem to be willing forgive and overlook questionable sexual misbehavior and attitudes of their fellow Republicans, with Donald J. Trump being the most outstanding example of that.

ETA: If Orrin Hatch has given Trump a Book of Mormon, there is practically zero probability that he will ever read it, and even a smaller probability that it will in any way change his behavior and policies for the better.
No precept or claim is more likely to be false than one that can only be supported by invoking the claim of Divine authority for it--no matter who or what claims such authority.
