The Republicans have one major task every few years: To fool enough people into making an Electoral College majority.
As you know, most voters do not benefit/are actually harmed by Republican policies, so the process of fooling just enough voters is essential. Lincoln told them they could not fool all of the people all of the time so that gathering the sufficient fools at election time is critical.
The Republican technique of manufacturing a phony scandal paid off in the last election, but with multiple potential candidates such as Biden, Beto, Sanders, and Warren it would behoove the Republican Scandal manufacturers to get their butts in gear and not worry about Trump. Devote 100% Fox News and other Republican rag coverage to smearing Democrats.
Bidengate is just around the corner and Warren is still Pocahontas, right? Maybe you could head off Oprah on charges of extravagant gift giving or something.
