Why didn't the DoJ investigate VP Biden?

Are you asking me? If so, see point 3 above.

Your answer is optics? I want you to think about that for second.

My answer was not optics. Reread #3.

Here, I'll copy it for you so you don't have to search. You're welcome.

3) The facts around what happened with Biden aren't that hidden. We know for a fact that he was not acting in the interest of Bursima, Hunter's client, when he informed then-President Poroshenko that PG Shokin had to go or the US wouldn't release a billion dollars in loan guarantees badly needed by Ukraine. VP Biden's demand worked to fight corruption and removed a PG who was protecting Burisma instead of going after them. It doesn't take much effort or time to gain enough of an informed understanding to realize the optics are wrong.

I'll help you out more, Cam. Here's 1 and 2 on their own so you can see why #3 referenced optics since that word drew your eye and apparently blocked your reading of the rest of the paragraph.

1) The reason the accusations against Biden seem to work is because the facts look bad on the surface. Members of the Obama administration in 2016 recognized this, too. As Schmo subsequently described it, the optics are bad.

2) What makes a person a moron in relation to this issue isn't in viewing the optics as bad, but in not looking into the details enough to realize the optics are superficial and don't stand up to scrutiny.

#3 literally doesn't answer my question.

Trump urged Zelensky to investigate VP Joe Biden.

Why didn't Trump have the DoJ investigate VP Biden?

In what world does it make sense to withhold military aid forcing a foreign President to investigate a political rival when you have the DoJ at your disposal?

I'm trying to keep it simple for any lurkers.

Believe you me, I read your answers and I re-read three times your answers above trying to make sense of it, especially in context to wonky positions you and Mikwut seem to be taking.

You're asking why Trump chose to personally make the request outside official channels?

Why are you asking me this? I think I see what's going on here, but let's be sure first. Are you asking me this because in your mind I'm making an argument that does not assume in reality what Trump did was wrong? That the evidence only leaves on the table Trump was either incompetent or pursuing personal political gain when he made the request?

I've going to give you a preview of how this ends, Cam. You're conflating what mikwut is saying with what I've said but you should go back to this part of the thread and then ask yourself why I'd suddenly start arguing mikwut's position.

I didn't. My argument assumes a fictional universe. What bizarro Trump does, what the DoJ gets asked to do, whether or not bizarro Joe Biden goes to jail in this fictional universe are parlor game questions. I don't care what details one speculates occurs in this world. I DO care that in our world we ought to be able to say that bizarro Biden should go to jail and impeachment isn't a sham but is, in fact, about protecting the nation from wrong doing. And to do so, one has to be able to stand behind the statement, What Biden did does matter. It just turns out what he did was the right thing not the bizarro universe claims of real universe Republicans.

I'm asking you, Honor, because you've spent pages trying to make the case Biden did something (at this point I'm not sure what because you keep trying to find some weird middle ground that doesn't exist), and even though it's not quite to the level of what Trump did (which I'm not sure now where you stand on that) he most certainly did something and we're all partisan hacks because he definitely did something, too.

Why don't you answer my questions then?

Trump urged Zelensky to investigate VP Joe Biden.

Why didn't Trump have the DoJ investigate VP Biden?

In what world does it make sense to withhold military aid forcing a foreign President to investigate a political rival when you have the DoJ at your disposal?

If I'm missing some nuance buried somewhere in pages and pages of whatabouting please feel free to point it out AFTER you answer my simple questions so that any lurkers can stay focused on the overarching points being lost within the discussion.

edit: Did you just edit your answer above? Maybe I'm going crazy or just didn't read closely enough.

Just so we're being clear.

- You DON'T BELIEVE Biden did something wrong, and you're ARGUING IN FAVOR OF Biden's innocence. Correct?

- You DO BELIEVE the Republicans are BEING DISHONEST by suggesting Biden did something worth investigating. Correct?

Show me where I claimed Biden did something.

I'll wait.

You may want to reread this post to save some time.
