I told you, the man eats crap. I ain't lyin'.
Even more proof. I just got home from grocery pick up. The oven had been on and there's half eaten previously frozen pizza on the top. :o

SEE? I bet if I wait about 15 more minutes the whole thing will be gone.

Pastries are my last great sin. I can go without ice cream, but I have to have my muffin in the morning. Many bike rides end with an almond croissant and a latte. The one thing I love that is good for me is carrot juice. I used to drink so much my skin turned orange!

For anyone who may be interested in my upcoming successes and/or failures, I am starting my program today! I will be posting my number next Thursday!

One correction to note: I mentioned that may starting number was 228 (That number came from a very recent doctor's appointment - so it was the number on their scale) - My scale at home is showing 224 - So 224 is what I will be using as my starting number.

Go chicken breast - Go veggies - Go fruits - Go protein shakes - and perhaps saddest of all, bye bye to my delicious white bread. :(

See you next Thursday!

What kind of program exactly? Is it a plan that you devised on your own? Also...remember if you are weighing and exercising, that at some point your weight might stay the same or go up for a bit since muscle weighs more than fat. Keep an eye out for that and don't let yourself feel discouraged. It means you are making progress in your health and fitness goals.

Oh and one cool thing to do is to measure your body...arms, waist, thighs whatever you like. That's such a good way of noticing how you are becoming more lean.

Me, I rebel against keeping track of calories, steps, miles, weight, measurements these days. I don't do well with regimentation so I do what I do and feel good about it. But I have done the weight, calories, and measurements things years ago and if you respond well to numbers, that's totally a cool thing to do.

Inspiration photo. James Corden has been on Weight Watchers for a while now. LOOK how good he looks! I would have never referred to James Corden as handsome or attractive. Not that men who are overweight can't be either. But this new photo is a game changer.

That's a great question. I guess I probably shouldn't have used the word "program" - because there really isn't a specific program I am starting/following.

Because I know me, I decided to just start. Meaning, start to eat healthier things - start to try to replace and/or trade off things - start trying to walk everyday - start choosing healthier things at the local grocery store (In addition to all the household cooking, I also do all the grocery shopping) - start thinking about what and why I am eating (many times I eat for pleasure) - start eating early in the day - start making it a thing to get more water down my throat - start MOVING my ass.

In my mind, I will be able to add/modify any number of things once I get started (food scales, calorie counting, find out what I like and what I don't like, watch the carbs, sugar intake, etc) but I think the key for me is to just get started! - So that's what I have decided to do.

A few examples of what I am trying to say: For the last several years, on working days (M-F), I would eat out for lunch - I would go to an establishment and would order something like a bacon cheeseburger, fries and a coke. Now, I am going to try packing my lunches and do something like a turkey breast sandwich on wheat with some cut up veggies and water (Not going to count how many calories are in that turkey sandwich - for now, I'm just going to eat that turkey sandwich and rest in the understanding that the turkey sandwich was a lot better food choice than the bacon cheeseburger, fries and coke - I am going to try to start making better choices. Full stop (For now)

Walking - for now, I'm not going to worry about walking 16.2 miles at a certain pace and doing the math to see how many calories I burned on that particular walk (this kind of thing might come down the road) For now, I am just going to start to walk, period - I don't care if I walk around my subdivision once at a snails pace for now, I just need to start walking. Moving instead of sitting on my couch. Move. Move.

Lastly, I wanted to say this. I really appreciate all the advice in the thread. I think a lot of the posts provide really valuable information as it relates to dropping some fat and eating healthier. I think it's very possible that I may actually use some of this advice at some point - But, as I already said, I don't think that point is now. After thinking about much of this, I think I need to start with the basics (start walking, eat healthier lunches, eat early in the day, start cooking with better ingredients and products, pay attention to what I am throwing in my basket at the grocery store) and as long as I can actually get going with the basics, I believe I can have success with loosing some fat and I think I will feel better, have more energy and be less lethargic.

So, yeah, no specific "program" really - Just going to make some changes and start to move more. Baby steps!

Anyway, thanks again to all who have taken the time to post advice for my benefit. I appreciate it.

(See you next Thursday for week one weigh in)

That sounds like a very reasonable start, Ceebs. I'm excited for you as you begin your journey.

Free app. Super simple. No weird, obsessive calculations needed. It just tells you how far you’ve walked and about how many calories that might have used to do so.

I’ve had this one for about 4 years now after downloading it on a lark, and have no complaints, but I also don’t need for it to do much other than what I just described above.
