Week one weigh in - (9/30/2021)

Starting weight - 224
Current weight - 223

A few very brief things - Then I will post my number again in one week.

Not really disappointed by the one pound loss but I am a little disappointed. I did not walk every day, I walked 3 times, at night, for the week and I walked approximately 1 mile each time at a very modest pace.

Remember that at this point, calorie reduction is the key, more so than the walking. Watching what’s on your plate has the greatest impact at the start. Low-intensity activities are going to help you achieve your goal but they’re initially a smaller component of reducing waist size.

Walking establishes a good habit and a healthier cardiovascular system, which in turn primes you for overall success in meeting your longer-term weight loss goals. So, don’t stop walking, but don’t worry too much about time or distance yet. Your comfort with and desire for activity will naturally increase as you continue.

Agree 100%. Creating new habits takes time. And the more you move, the more your body triggers you to move. It's a process!

Ceeboo...has anyone on this thread asked you what your age is or if you have any underlying health conditions or if you take any particular medications?

I am NOT asking you those questions. I'm asking if anyone else did ask you. I don't believe I've read all the posts here.

Have you actually posted those particulars without anyone asking?

That's 2 question.

Not really disappointed by the one pound loss but I am a little disappointed. I did not walk every day, I walked 3 times, at night, for the week and I walked approximately 1 mile each time at a very modest pace. I drank a ton of water, way more than I ever do. I drank a few diet cokes and had my daily coffee (with cream and sugar) but I had no regular pop or juice. I learned that I do not like wheat bread, at all (need to experiment to find something I like that can replace white bread.) I ate a lot of chicken breast and veggies - Raisin bran with skim milk - snacked on raw carrots, peppers and celery. I ate no chips (a big deal for me.) Broke down and had two large slices of pizza that my boy brought home one evening (Yeah, he's a real pecker! )

Still have lots to learn - lots to try - lots to discover. So, I move onward.
Great start! Are you going to stay the course or is there something you want to tweak right now?

Thanks for all the recent posts.

I am 53 - I take blood pressure meds and cholesterol meds daily.

I think, for now, I am just going to stay on the current course. Because I know me (I don't like huge changes) I need to take all of this slow and make a few adjustments here and few others there. I have committed, in my mind, to treat this whole thing like a marathon of sorts and not a sprint. Thinking long term and making gradual changes that will add up and pay off over time (I hope)

Yeah, I understood you - I just don't care if anyone knows what meds I'm on or my age.

I'm going to make a statement. I am NOT (read that twice) asking you for information.

Not asking. Not asking. Not asking. <----three more times now.

I'm only going to say that if you are on a beta blocker medication for BP, that would typically be a LOT to work against when exercising.

That's it. That's a statement. That is not asking you a question. See? No squiggly marks --->???<---squiggly mark.

So...the fact that you haven't been asked what, if any, underlying health conditions you have, your age, whatever meds you might be on.

Is the very reason why hot shot over there needs to stop asking questions like this:

How much time does it take you to walk a mile?

On it's face, that seems to be a benign question and yet, I have seen him make claims on this board regarding health/fitness without regard to age, health conditions, age, medications or even gender.

Those particulars matter.
