Rachel Maddow, is that you!!!!! You hit all the Progressive talking points. . Guns were never a "problem" until culture started to decline. I can't remember who but a few pages back on this thread, someone said once they had kids, they put a trigger lock on their gun, put it in a safe, then locked it in a closet. Holy crap!!! That explains the Progressive scaredy cat everything in life is going to hurt or kill me so I need to be a victim so people feel sorry for me attitude. You guys are the biggest sissies I've ever come across. Even people like Bill Maher , a classic liberal, is growing tired if your B.S.!! You guys would be happy if everyone was walking around in suits made out of bubble wrap and wearing 3 mask. I hate to be the one to tell you, but you're in a cult!! You'll never understand, kinda like you didn't understand Mormonism when you were a Mormon!
One of the main reasons to disarm America is because your cult, the Progressive cult, wants a great reset of America. An armed populist makes that goal a lot harder for you guys to complete.
Why are you being completely dishonest over and over again? I've already stated that neither I nor anyone else you deem "PROGRESSIVE!!" is trying to "disarm America." We want to disarm bad people with bad intentions. We want to disarm people who want to commit murder/suicide. I'd be the happiest person in America if every gun was a smart gun registered to a law abiding citizen. But you refuse to even listen when I say this because you prefer to keep beating up your favorite straw man. You just want there to be an endless supply of guns for everyone because some moron told you it is a "God given freedom" and you have absolutely zero interest in doing anything as a mitigation measure to the outrageous number of gun deaths. Like COVID, Conservatives just want to do... quite literally NOTHING. They oppose every single mitigation measure taken by societies around the world. They embrace one of two idiotic philosophies:
1. Jesus won't let me get COVID
2. Brietbart says everyone is eventually going to get it anyway so might as well live free.
Remember early on in the pandemic Glenn Beck said he's be willing to die from COVID if it meant the younger generation didn't have to do virtual schooling? This is the kind of religious idiocy that encapsulates current GOP thinking. You were against Seat Belts that have saved countless lives, you were fully against regulations prohibiting smoking in public areas, you're against doing anything in response to COVID and you're against anything that would save lives from gun violence. That's how history will remember the GOP. The do nothing party with blood on its hands because... "FREEDOM."
Not much freedom when you're dead.
Sissies. Says the guy who lied about why he wasn't willing to go toe to toe with people here.

At least children rarely drive over themselves with cars.
Are you mocking people who commit suicide?
You already forgot that you were talking about driving over children in driveways?
As the younger sibling of a toddler who was killed by a truck backing out of a driveway, I am extremely offended by this cruel, heartless, mockery of dead toddlers.
Actually, go ahead. You're good.
That is how my older sister died.

Dude!! You watch too much Rachel Maddow. Do you actually think republicans are the only people not vaccinated!?!? I know more Democrats that aren't vaccinated. I know black families, FAMILIES, that won't get vaccinated because the older members have scared the younger generations with stories of the Tuskegee experiment, they're all Democrats. I know liberal jews that won't get vaccinated! You guys are delusional!! Really, I mean that!! It's like the stereotyping you watch on TV puts you in some kind of trance and you forget how to think for yourself. I have never looked down on someone if they chose not to get vaccinated. I have never looked down on someone for not enjoying there second amendment right. I have never looked down on someone for never touching a gun. But I do look down on people who think they no what's best for everyone around them, kinda like you and Doc Cam do!!
I don’t care. A pile of bad arguments don’t magically become a good argument.
How am I making a bad argument?
Because you aren't considering all of the costs of banning alcohol. Wasn't it you making a big deal out of how violent drug cartels are? Why are there drug cartels at all? Because selling drugs is very profitable. Why are drugs so profitable? Because the supply is much smaller than the demand. Why is the supply so small? Because drugs are illegal. Legalize drugs, and the cartels go broke.
What you propose will create alcohol cartels. Read up on the effect of prohibition on crime.
Hypothesizing a change, but just cherry picking the consequences of change that support your point, is a bad argument. Making alcohol illegal would have all kinds of effects. What happens to all of the people who are employed in industries that make alcohol or that are dependent on production of alcohol? What are they supposed to do? Remember how you now want to get rid of young undocumented workers because they depress wages? What do you think happens when all those folks who become unemployed as a result of your alcohol ban flood other parts of the job market looking for work?
Any change has benefits and it has costs. Cherry picking the benefits and ignoring the costs is a bad argument.
Now, go do this with coffee.

Are you referring to the fight? So you are advocating for aggression, correct? Failure to accept the conditions of that aggression (including the location) is, to you, unacceptable. Did Doc accept the counter conditions, which included a family BBQ and boating? If not, how should we judge his failure to accept either aggression or the possibility of a non-violent interaction?
Self reporting UR4. My bad.

Yes, but we are no longer in the 1920s, I don't see how alcohol trafficking would be easy today. How would the cartels transport bottles (or barrels) of liquor to the US? And if alcohol gets transported to the US, a single bottle would be very expensive. The only solution would be to make it here in the US.
The cartels will continue to have power until everything is legalized. Do you support the legalization of all drugs and prostitution? I don't see how alcohol prohibition would give cartels more power.
Making alcohol illegal would have all kinds of effects.
My point is that if you are against guns, you should also be against alcohol. You shouldn't cherry pick if you really care about others.
I was responding to Doc's comment "This is the level of empathy who love their guns more than they love their fellow man." Apparently he doesn't truly love his fellow man.

DT, who here is "against guns?" That's an absolutist position that most people don't actually adopt. If I generally favor reducing injury and death caused by guns, am I "against guns?" If I favor shifting the cost to society of gun injuries and death onto those who choose to own guns, am I "against guns?" I am neither for nor against guns. I generally favor reducing injury, pain, misery and death among my fellow humans. But I also understand that the world is a complex jumble of competing interests, issues and concerns. I fully understand the law of unintended consequences, and any demand for change that doesn't even try to figure out the consequences of change isn't worth considering. And I understand that I can never be certain about the effect of actions, so absolutes are off the table.
And, really, read my siggy. I am not an omnipowerful creature with the ability to address all harm at any time. It's personally reasonable to focus on reducing one type of harm and not another. All things are the same and all things are different. Arguing about consistency of positions on guns and alcohol is a waste of time.

This explains quite a bit to me why so many children die each year from guns. I lock up my gun because I am a logical person who understands risk and the unpredictability of human behavior. Incidentally, my gun has had a trigger lock and been stored in a locked case since the day I got it. I only took the added step of insuring it was completely out of sight and not known about when there were children in my home.
The fact that you brag about lack of safety measures as signifying you are some tough guy who has to make sure he announces he's not a victim or a 'sissy' is unfortunate. It's obvious too many children are paying the price for their parents' immaturity in the area of basic safety and proper handling.
Bypassing the childish emojis and anonymous contrarian trolling that clutters up a thread is tiresome, but every once in a while you learn something. Today we learned children are dying by guns because their parents don't want to be 'sissies' who use trigger locks.
