Doc, im not really concerned with something being a legitimate "hit piece" so long as what they're saying is true. I'm kinda surprised that you of all people would be.
Was he being swift boated with mystery witnesses claiming he was racist behind closed doors? No.
It was merely a clip of him speaking on his shows. That's it. All the damage caused was self inflicted.

I think I’m hung up on the tactics of using superpacs to destroy someone deemed a political enemy. This feels Orwellian to me, in addition to having a chilling effect on legitimate discourse which is fickle to begin with. JR’s use of the n-word is offensive, that’s indisputable. But what brought this about wasn’t his use of the n-word, it was his Covid treatment stance. Once we allow for this kind of tactical sniping then everything is on the table, and this will eventually result, or actually is resulting, in the very real possibility of people agitating for our Republic to be broken up into ideological states. This creates a host of issues that can be traced back to the tacit approval of destroying political opponents through the use of propaganda and manipulated media.
For example, when Ajax claimed you typed out the n-word he deliberately removed the context around your post. When someone claims Joe Biden dropped the n-word, as he did, they do so removing context so he can be hurt personally and politically. Doing this to JR may not take JR down, but it opens the door to teams of people combing over a person’s public life, slickly producing an out of context hit piece, and then releasing it to do its works. It’s very effective, and it’s incredibly damaging to our shared culture of supposed ideological tolerance. This is unsustainable behavior for a democracy.

That's an illicit leap, I think. This kind of thing is hardly new, and has been happening in politics since God knows when, and yet we're still a democracy. It has the effect of pissing off Rogan's fanbase but I think they're mostly pissed because Rogan gave in and apologized. I don't think it leads to the destruction of democracy. In fact I'm hopeful Rogan's reaction is a sign of good things to come from him.Doctor CamNC4Me wrote: ↑Wed Feb 09, 2022 3:51 pmI think I’m hung up on the tactics of using superpacs to destroy someone deemed a political enemy. But nothing was really "manipulated" here. Sure, the context was ignored but the context didn't really help Rogan anyway. All it did was show that he wasn't explicitly calling out specific black people and describing them as <forbidden word>. But just the fact that a white person in this day and age feels it is Ok to flippantly use that word says Rogan is way out of touch with what's socially acceptable these days. Consider in 2017 when Bill Maher used the N word and he got a swift shellacking from people, including Ice Cube who said he needed to "know when to shut up."This creates a host of issues that can be traced back to the tacit approval of destroying political opponents through the use of propaganda and manipulated media.

Maher hasn't been cancelled.

I think Spotify has handled this just like they should. If artists want to have their stuff removed from the platform, that's their choice. It was good on Spotify to remove JRE episodes that had misinformation. JR apologized.
I'm not sure what else there is to say about it, except that JR losing his Spotify contract would not be the same thing as cancelling him. His show is his own, he can still produce it and go back to loading crap on YouTube.
People have got to get it through their thick damned skulls that speech is not protected on various platforms, and that is not a violation of their free speech per the first amendment. If you're going to whine about free speech, learn what the “F” it is first.

Joe is supposed to have more freedom of speech than the executives at Spotify -- per the typical unhinged right-winger.

Speaking of Ivermectin Joe, it looks like it ain’t do nuthin’ to prevent infection from Covid:

https://www.ksl.com/article/50351901/iv ... tudy-finds
- DocThe antiparasitic drug ivermectin doesn't prevent severe disease from COVID-19 any more effectively than symptom management and close observation by medical professionals, according to a study published Friday in the journal JAMA Internal Medicine.
…
Two previous randomized-controlled trials of ivermectin for COVID-19, from Argentina and Colombia, concluded that there was no significant effect on symptoms or hospitalization rates, prompting the World Health Organization to advise that ivermectin be used to treat Covid-19 only within the setting of clinical trials.
