"Stop the Steal" organizer Ali Alexander threatened to expose some unspecified crime that he claims Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-GA) committed. The right-wing agitator stepped up his attacks on the Georgia Republican, whose support for Kevin McCarthy (R-CA) as House speaker opened a rift with Rep. Lauren Boebert (R-CO), with an apparent blackmail threat and a string of misogynist slurs, reported Right Wing Watch.
“I will not suffer this harlot," Alexander said on his Telegram page. "I will not be taught vows and loyalty, commitment from a whore! You have got me mistaken for some damn fool, and a fool, Ali Alexander has never been called."
Alexander, who faces his own legal troubles over his role in planning the rally that preceded the Jan. 6 insurrection, did not provide any details about the crime Greene allegedly committed, but he said it occurred in Georgia and could result in her expulsion from Congress.
"In the coming days I'm going to reveal that Marjorie Taylor Greene, in my summation and the summation of lawyers, committed a crime," Alexander said. "That crime is going to be handed to the state of Georgia, and the state of Georgia will decide whether they adjudicate that crime or not. The House Ethics Committee and House Rules [Committee] must expel Marjorie Taylor Greene when this evidence comes to light."
"Ho, go home! I am done with you," he added. "You are lukewarm, I am spitting you out of my mouth. You played me, and no more. Everyone will know about your drunken night, because the consultants who have drunk with you will have to choose whether they fear me or whether they fear you, and they fear me, Marge. They fear me a lot more than they fear you."
While the theatrics are going on I'm curious where others expect to see this go? There is certainly a degree of schadenfreude in seeing McCarthy being bitten repeatedly by the snake he succored. But then again, we are watching a poisonous snake about to be dropped by it's victim so....
I’m having trouble even talking a wild ass guess at what best and worst would look like. It’s going to be a nothingburger off a session anyway. The whole agenda is to put on a show that will scare voters into voting R in 2024. I don’t think there are six Relief Society willing to cross over to get bills passed. So, at a practical level, who’s in charge may not matter that much.
At some level, I can’t help but wonder if the best result would be having the nutcases in charge. Maybe votes will tire of the clown show. I dunno.

I think the so-called House Freedom Caucus gaining outsized influence is the sort of slide that history books in the future speak of as a milestone toward some other major event. The 2011 Tea Party, 2015 rise of the Freedom Caucus, MAGA, Jan. 6th, the HFC minority stealing power from the old dogs of the Freedom Caucus...
I think when the movement in a crisis is to the extremes rather than consensus, the dynamics are in place for bad outcomes to occur. I don't think the results will be isolated to the Republicans, either. In the era of razor thin majorities and hyper partisan primaries, successful hostage taking breeds proliferation of hostage taking.
The tiny number of "moderate Republicans" allowed to exist in the House (almost all have been deposed in primaries over the years, unlike with Democrats) need to step forward and actually have guts for once. These people always knuckle under to the lunatics. They never stand up for themselves.
If they were to team up with Democrats, the moderate Republicans would have the most powerful positions in the House. And they would do something really great to help the Republican Party, which has been captured by nihilist anti-government nuts since at least 1995 in Congress.

I agree that movement toward extremes in a crisis is a bad sign. But there extreme members of the FC already have an outside influence — when the parties are this equally balanced, small, committed blocks hold outsized power. It’s just math. The difference this time around is that the FC 20 are willing to use that power.

I think the Democrats are missing out on a huge opportunity here by offering to carry McCarthy over the line. It is better to force him to make concessions to them instead of the hard headed idiots who are holding out because he refuses to give them more power. If he eventually gives in to the demands by Boebert & Co. it won't be pretty.
How about the Democrats vote him in on the condition that there’s no dumb-ass “investigations” ... for starters.
Wouldn't it be totally crazy if the Democrats come save the day and put him in just so the government can get back to governing again?
