Was Hunter Biden a government official?
No, but they're still paying the Vice President's son, daughter, brother, and other family members huge amounts of money that the Bidens attempted to conceal with shell companies. Think of it this way. What if the Russians paid Don Jr. $10 million for no discernible service other than Don Jr. demonstrating he had access to Don Sr. That would still be a bribe in that case, right? Trump actually has a hotel business in which case you viewed a good deal on a hotel was reason enough to impeach. The "Biden brand," is nothing more than demonstrating that you have access to the Big Guy. And the partisan DOJ has been obstructing justice the entire time on this congressional investigation.
Use of shell companies is standard practice in American business for lots of reasons other than concealing transactions. You're simply lumping a bunch of generalizations together and claiming something illegal is happening. Show me who got what money under which conditions. It certainly wasn't illegal for Joe Biden's son and other relatives to do business with other companies. And it wasn't illegal to use shell corporations in setting up whatever businesses they were doing. If they were illegally evading taxes, they should be prosecuted. If they engaged in money laundering or other illegal business transactions, they should be prosecuted. But just throwing around numbers and claiming guilt by association just doesn't cut it.

Why would anyone pay Don Jr. money to demonstrate he has access to his father? Of course he does. He campaigned for his father. He called his father on the phone. He visited his father at the White House. He went with his father on trips.

Now, here's a potential example of actual bribery. A member of the U.S. Government who is an advisor to the President borrowed a huge amount of money to pay way to much money for a building. The loan is coming due and no U.S. bank will refinance to bail out the bad investment. The advisor is placed in charge of "solving" the Middle East, and becomes besties with the Saudi Prince who is likely to become head of the Kingdom. After Qatar turns down the U.S. advisor's application for a loan to bail him out, Saudi Arabia begins putting enormous pressure on Qatar. Qatar changes its mind and bails out the advisor. The President, who also happens to be the U.S. advisor's father-in-law, takes no action in response to the advisor's bestie Prince kidnapping, torturing, killing and carving into pieces an American journalist.

We could also do the advisor's wife and her Chinese patents.

I've never taken the position that Trump should have been impeached over a good "hotel deal." There's evidence that foreign governments tried to curry favor with Trump by paying for large blocks of hotel rooms that they didn't use. There was some talk from Trump or the Trump Org. that those payments would be donated to charity. I've never tried to figure out if they actually were (Trump has a spotting record of keeping those kinds of promises). If the profits were donated, no problem.

Did Hunter and other people not named Joe Biden try to trade on Joe Biden's name? Yes. Are the Bidens some kind of special case? No. Unless we lock close relatives of politicians in cells so they can't conduct any business, there will always be people who will offer employment to relatives of politicians either because they think association with the name will give them a perceived business advantage or because they think it will give them some influence.

LOL! Just because the "Trump Brand" is a real thing that Trump used his political position to make money off of doesn't mean there is a "Biden Brand."

The DOJ is doing its job -- investigating and prosecuting actual crimes. The current Republican investigations are political campaigns. They make requests that they know the DOJ can't comply with without screwing up criminal investigations and prosecutions just so they can complain that the DOJ is "interfering" with their grandstanding. It's 100% disingenuous and intended to keep the rubes donating to reelection campaigns.

Trump is paid $160 million from foreign countries while President. Meh.

Hunter Biden is paid $20 million from foreign countries while not in government. AIIIIIEEEEEEE!!!!
Trump was actually selling a product. The Biden's were selling nothing but "influence of the Big Guy." But yeah, American foreign policy was sold at a rather cheap rate.

Oh, that's your excuse for Trump's corruption -- he was selling a product?

Remind me again what the product was that was being sold, with the more than 100 foreign government gifts that him and his family hid from mandated disclosures?
Trump has had a hotel, celebrity, and casino brand that long precedes his entry into politics. Unlike most of Washington, Trump held a job in the real world prior to running for office. The Trump family is held to a far higher standard by the DOJ than establishment Republicans, let alone Democrats.

What was the $10 million and $20 million from the superchairman for? Does the Biden family have a hotel or celebrity line?
Actually, lots of people have businesses before they go into politics. Most of them recognize that it is illegal and corrupt to use their governmental position to benefit their businesses. To avoid conflicts of interest, they often give up their businesses or take steps to avoid taking actions in their governmental positions that benefit their businesses. Trump is an exception because he treated his presidential power as part of his business enterprises.

Which $10 million and $20 million. Who paid what to whom under what circumstances? Show me the money!

Comer says? So far the track record of "Comer says" is pretty dismal.
Unlike Joe Biden's track record of claiming over and over again that he never spoke with Hunter, Jim, or any family about his business dealings? Or like the track record of the DOJ and saying that the laptop was a Russian misinformation fabrication and going on to suppress the story on Facebook and Twitter?
We're talking about whether Comer accurately describes evidence only he and the committee has access to. He doesn't.

So... the product for the foreign government gifts that him and his family hid from mandated disclosures was his celebrity, as President? Agreed.

Trump’s Income:

2015 – Negative 31.7 million
2016 – Negative 32.2 million
2017 – Negative 12.8 million
2018 – Positive 24.4 million

I wonder what happened in 2017 in Trump’s bankruptcy-ridden negative net income life that would account for a sudden reversal of his fortunes?

Probably innovated a revolutionary new product, or something.
Trump took advantage of bad tax laws enacted by Democrats in a legal way. I don't hold that against him. Hunter Biden paid no taxes on his influence pedaling scheme. And you know that Joe Biden has been enriched by Hunter's scheme for the same reason. There's no way Joe made his net worth what it is today through a congressional salary. But you don't care if the Biden's cheat tax law or do quid pro quo's with the CCP. As long as Biden keeps the border open, the welfare flowing, and the debt skyrocketing along with our taxes, who cares about Hunter Biden, right?

LOL! Which "bad tax laws" are you talking about? Did Trump use them legally?

Can you accurately describe the revenue received by Hunter Biden that the IRS says he failed to pay tax on?

Your insinuation that Joe Biden must have earned money under the table was debunked back in 2020 when Eric Trump first made it. https://www.businessinsider.com/bidens- ... 017-2019-7 If you're going to make claims that he couldn't have accumulated his current net worth legally, you have to count all of his legally earned income.

I care about tax cheats. Rich people get away with murder on their taxes because they have the money to bury the IRS in legal BS. Why do you think the Relief Society are fighting so hard to claw back the funding Congress gave it to go after rich tax cheaters. I've said from the beginning that if Hunter broke tax laws, he should be prosecuted. It's you who doesn't care about tax cheaters because you don't believe in taxes.

And I suppose you consider the sweetheart deal the DOJ tried to give Hunter was fair and that the son of a Republican politician would have gotten the same deal from a supposedly nonpartisan DOJ?

No, I don't think you have said that. At least you're not still claiming the laptop was something conjured up by the Russians.
And when the Confederates saw Jackson standing fearless like a stonewall, the army of Northern Virginia took courage and drove the federal army off their land.

Given it was a Trump appointed Republican prosecutor that authored the deal... that's probably a fair assumption.

I can’t know what type of “deal” Hunter Biden got without knowing how prosecutable the case was against Hunter and comparable plea bargains on comparable charges. I don’t believe for a second that the son of a Republican politician would have received a less favorable deal.

I’ve already explained why I think Russian involvement in the public disclosure of the laptop contents is still on the table. You continue to strawman what people actually said about the public release of the laptop’s contents at the time. The Republican Committees won’t take testimony from Lev Parnas, who claims Russian intelligence has possession of the laptop at some point. I have no idea whether it’s true, but the fact that the Committee won’t put him under oath and take testimony from him says a lot about the sincerity of the Relief Society that run the House Committees. There is evidence of tampering with the laptop’s content in the months before it was turned over to the FBI. The whistleblowers indicated in their testimony that the prosecutors thought there was some kind of taint issue with the laptop.

And, because Hunter is under criminal indictment based, at least in part, on the laptop, we aren’t hearing whatever his accounts of the facts is. Maybe we will if there’s a trial or after a plea agreement is approved.

Hey Ajax,

Here’s a whistleblower report by an FBI agent on how Giuliani and members of the Trump White House were protected from corruption investigations into money laundering by Russian Oligarchs in the US. He also reports on several scenarios explored by Russian Intelligence to try and help Trump win the 2020 election. One of those scenarios sounds familiar.
