LDS Church shows real growth in the UK

Post by I Have Questions »

That's real growth in expenses, not membership

From the public filing for year ending December 2022

Total Church Membership
2022 - 186,933 (885 convert baptisms)
2021 - 186,803

Stakes
2022 - 44 (275 wards, 42 branches)
2021 - 45 (279 wards, 40 branches)

Missionary program admin costs
2022 - £9,427,000 (total missionary expenditure including mission president stipends and expenses £11,023,000)
2021 - £7,790,000 (total missionary expenditure including mission president stipends and expenses £8,572,000)

Expenditure excluding exceptional items
2022 - £52,762,000
2021 - £44,979,000

Member donations
2022 - £37,845,000 (tithing income decreased by £250,000)
2021 - £37,699,000

None of the humanitarian funds donated (2022 - £906,000) have been expended directly in the UK. Instead, the Church pulled up £6.7 million into its "we can do whatever we like with it" central pot.

Report available via UK Gov Companies House
Premise 1. Eyewitness testimony is notoriously unreliable.
Premise 2. The best evidence for the Book of Mormon is eyewitness testimony.
Conclusion. Therefore, the best evidence for the Book of Mormon is notoriously unreliable.
