I could be sure there is some good contemporary music but the comparison example makes a point for my ears.

What's the deal with one verse or half a verse songs these days (quite a few days, in fact). I walk into a local hardware store and the country music song has one verse, second verse same words as the first. And then why not repeat the whole two lines.....

What you hear at a Stones concert are the Stones. No autotune, nothing altered. Their sound system apparently sends out their performance (amplifies their amplifiers) to the stadium audience in waves so there is no delay between what they're playing/singing/saying and what you hear. If they screw up, they screw up and recover in a split second. They are real. They are raw. They are professional.

And they are R&R Royalty.

Okay, so $471 each. That's quite a bit considering how far away from the stage you were, but clearly they could get away with it since they're the Rolling Stones.

Selfishly for me, Lovebites hasn't hit it big yet, so their tickets are still very cheap. My Dallas ticket was only $47 (admission, fees, and taxes included), while my VIP packages for Los Angeles and San Francisco were about $277 each (again, admission, fees, and taxes included).

They're iconic. They can command just about any price they want. I would have loved to be next to the stage except for the fact that you have to stand the whole time. I'd rather be somewhere I can sit through the ballads.

You get let into the venue 30 minutes before non-VIP ticket holders, you get a meet-and-greet with the band members after the show, you get a photo taken of you surrounded by all the band members (then the photo is given to you), and you get some exclusive merchandise, which I think is a T-shirt and maybe one or two other things.

That's great, but although I'm positive it doesn't equal $471 in 2024 dollars, what does the inflation calculator say that $5.00 was worth in 2024 dollars?
