I think that Jones telling parents of kids who were shot in the face or killed that they and their children were crisis actors who acted out the whole thing for money, and then inciting his audience of millions to harass and threaten those parents for a decade afterwards qualifies for a stronger word than ‘antics’.
Yeah, that is completely unacceptable behavior, ghoulish even, and he rightly was held legally accountable. Which is how all of this conflict should be unfolding. If someone does something illegal, the law should hold them accountable. Calling legal action “lawfare,” thus blurring the line between a society of laws and one of violence, is deleterious.
That bit about lawfare is not aimed at you, canpakes.
"I have learned with what evils tyranny infects a state. For it frustrates all the virtues, robs freedom of its lofty mood, and opens a school of fawning and terror, inasmuch as it leaves matters not to the wisdom of the laws, but to the angry whim of those who are in authority.”
Just like if someone breaks the law the judge and prosecutors (and their families) shouldn’t be getting death threats cause the convicted lawbreaker paints it as politically motivated.
Then in another case that hasn’t yet gone to trial it should be reasonable to have a gag order if the government can credibly show that the defendant’s speech is resulting in threats against law enforcement officers that were merely executing a lawful search warrant.
Yes. Given the sparse evidence we have, I think this contradicts the notion that he was a radical right-wing extremist.
Partially true. His donation was to a progressive outlet. There is no indication he was a centrist Biden supporter. The information so far indicates he was drawn to populist rhetoric. Populism is a problem, for this reason.
Apparently the donation was a 69 year old Democrat that shares the same name and lives in Pittsburg.
As information continues to come in, as I predicted, this isn't unfolding as a complex conspiracy or a highly planned activity. The shooter's mom was a Democrat, his dad a Libertarian. A young, nerdy white male who was bullied mercilessly, every day, at school. According to classmates, he was a loner, wore Camouflage hunting clothes to school and wore a mask long after Covid was over. He had an AR-15, was into gun culture. Typical school shooter profile but took a an unexplored path.
There would be no way to extensively prepare for his mission. He would have no idea what the security would be like. The only option would be to play it by ear. He found an opening and didn't hesitate. I don't have full confirmation but 130 yards with open sights. He didn't even have a scope.
We can't take farmers and take all their people and send them back because they don't have maybe what they're supposed to have. They get rid of some of the people who have been there for 25 years and they work great and then you throw them out and they're replaced by criminals.
Is there a way to raise genuine political concerns without offending others?
Considering how unbelievably divided we are at the moment (the country - not you and I), I am honestly not sure. This country is so greatly damaged - so extremely divided - so damned messed up - I really do not know if raising genuine political concerns without offending is even possible at this point.
All of us must accept the reality that we find ourselves in regarding the condition of our country and the extreme division among the citizens - whether or not we choose to surrender to this reality doesn't change the reality. Very concerning and unnerving.
I don't understand. How does an attempted shooting increase the likelihood of Trump winning? I would assume the first would be like, he I'm ok. I'm strong. But I didn't see it so that's just what my assumption would be. I find it odd that this would change so much. It's not Biden's fault someone tried to shoot Trump.
They already compare him to Jesus Christ. Now that he has drawn blood, and Jesus had blood flow, Trump is now, the modern day Christ for his followers who will continue worshipping him at fever pitch.

That now makes more sense given that the shooter, in comparison, would have been 16 or 17 at the time.

I am not offended at your genuine political concern. Thanks for another great board contribution, Philo. (Posted for Kish)
