Prediction: Bye, Bye, Biden

Oops! I guess my second prediction IS coming true. Harris was endorsed by Biden, and now by the Clintons. Harris may prove to be the Hubert Humphrey of the new millennium.

There is only one thing that will give me a measure of hope here, and this is if she chooses a good running mate. I am thinking Mayor Pete. Which may be risky, but that guy will destroy J.D. Vance in the vice presidential debate.

If Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez is right, they are well on their way to screwing up everything already. There is no rallying to Harris, according to her. What we see is chaos. And what should one expect from this cat farm? They would have been better off toughing it out until November, waiting to see whether Biden could make it his whole term after his victory. But they flinched.

The open nomination process I've seen floated by some (I'm looking at you Pelosi) sounds like a masterclass in how to throw elections to me. In the interest of appearing open, they will circumvent the very process that was designed for openly selecting the candidate. Whoever gets picked will likely still feel "coronated" anyways and likely lots of groups will feel alienated in the process. I'll be happy to eat crow if this all goes swimmingly but I'm just not a believer that Democrat leadership has a handle on this.

Your favored candidate is a mentally ill buffoon whose first presidency was a fiasco. The only thing that makes DJT seem fit in the eyes of GOP voters is the fact that they worship amoral narcissism and otherwise have abysmally low standards. What they really want is a guy with a pen to sign tax cuts and judicial nominations who played the part of Tough Boss on The Apprentice.

Although a predictable line of questioning it is pretty easy to dismiss. Something to the effect of: "He is more than capable currently but doesn't want to continue to be a distraction in this vital election time. Rather than continue to sacrifice Biden will opt to stand aside and direct his efforts to someone the party can get behind and then enjoy his new-found free time with loved ones and family."

The Clintons endorsed her, and I am sure Obama will. I have a feeling this was the preferred outcome from the outset, maybe even the objective behind the coup, and that those who were against it just didn't have confidence in her as a candidate. I don't really have confidence in her as a candidate. I think she could do the job. Certainly she would do it better than Trump. But I am not convinced that she will pull in new voters or even keep Biden's 2020 voters.
