So in my grocery delivery yesterday I got something new to try. I was searching up information on cheeses just for variety's sake. I was reminded of gouda cheese. So I looked up all the facts about it. Not much fat, pretty good protein, calories okay and learned that it's fermented and awesome for digestion. So I ate a small hunk late afternoon with crackers and strawberries on my plate. As soon as I ate a few small pieces my stomach started gurgling. Of course I thought, hey that's probably a sign of good digestion at work.
WRONG. REALLY WRONG.
Within the time I took to eat it all (15 minutes? I know I eat too fast) my stomach inflated like a hot air balloon to a degree that was so bad you couldn't miss it. Like you could SEE it. So bloating, then almost the worst heartburn I ever had and finally...AFIB.
The trifecta of total misery in my life! Pain, pain, plus crazy heart rhythm. Horrible!
Tried the stomach relief routine on youtube, then went straight to simethicone, gobbling down anti acids, pinches of baking soda in warm water and of course...vagal maneuvers. Nothing was touching it. Checked it on my phone really quick (because it stresses me out to look at it) and caught a high of 160 bpm. Told hubs I'd keep trying for a certain time and if nothing got fixed we needed to go to the ER.
So we ended up in the ER around 6 pm.

The ER was packed but they apparently triaged me ahead of other folks and got me in a room...not even the regular room where they usually do the shock. As they wheeled me through there I could see that every single room was occupied. The little room I got was I dunno what it was, but it had monitors and all of that so okay and then they wheeled in the shocker machine. That little room was packed with people including a med student.

Had to wait a good long while for them to get everything ready to go probably because it was so busy in there. Everyone was cool to me. Then finally they tell The Boy to stand outside, then propofol, see ya...wake up feeling brand new!
The doc wanted to try a different type of sedation but I told him, through his PA, I wanted to stay with what I knew...if it ain't broke don't fix it...and I knew what to expect from propofol and please use the dose I had in my records from the last 2 times last year because before that, one time it was too much and I stopped breathing.

The experience went really well and one weird thing...I woke up right away from the propofol able to make conversation and all. Hubs told me later that they said they tried just a bit lower dose this time so I guess that explains it. I'll check that in my records because it I was noticeably alert.
Anyway...tired today but good again!
Here's my "one good thing" that happened. When I was at the front desk this girl sort of yelled out "I love your hat!" I told her where I got it at a local grocery store called Safeway. She's like "Guuuurl, Safeway!?!

I know I always say this but when things are going south...look for that one good thing. I'm sure you'll find it! You will! Someone will treat you well or kindly or some part of the circumstances will have been to your advantage and made things easier for you or it could even be a beautiful blue sky. Don't overlook the one good thing! It's there!
