Please don't let me be the only one that finds hugging difficult. :(

When I was a kid, whenever I went to hug my mum goodnight my dad would be like, "are your trying to crawl back up the hole you came from?" He'd get angry so I'd run to my mum and tap my head on hers then run upstairs to bed. I don't even know if my brothers got hugs. I was always sent up before them. Even now I will still touch my mum's head with mine before going to bed if we are staying in the same house.
Why would you even think that? A lotta people like huggings.
Was intended literally. It's good that people like hugs. I just felt like a weirdo being the only person that gets overwhelmed. So felt a bit like I was abnormal. :(

Our younger daughter doesn’t like to be hugged. Sometimes she lets us, sometimes not.

You've got to be really careful with hugs! Let me tell you, ...

Shortly after my family moved to Montreal from Scotland (late '70s) we met a family that we became fairly friendly with.

Being Scottish, my wife & I we were not big huggers - especially me - but a strange thing happened within a few weeks: Sister X and I started to greet each other by hugging firmly and long, while Brother X (actually, President X) and my wife stood a foot apart and briefly shook hands while waiting for us to break our clinch.

There was nothing sexual/romantic in it - it just seemed the most natural thing in the world.

About 6 months later the X family moved away. At the end of their farewell Sis X and I shared a hug, and I gave her a little "peck" on the cheek - all within plain sight of the entire ward, including her husband. As we stepped back she said, "That was interesting - I've never been kissed before by a man with a beard." I shot back, "Neither have I!"

As my family was leaving the building I was grabbed from behind, dipped, and kissed on the lips by -- the biggest, hairiest, burliest guy in the ward.

He told me that Sis X had sent him after me with the message: "You can never again say that you haven't been kissed by a man with a beard!"

I suppose, as the saying goes, never say never.
