One hope is Trump 2 is as incompetent at evil as the first time around. My folks don't rely on social security, my nephews and nieces are starting to have kids so banning all vaccines could be really bad, but we will see if that gets followed through. I guess we will see how the 10% tariffs play out and how the economy does. I don't know what is worse, if it is just meh with the economy we can keep on going down this path. Vance might be taking over at some point, though I'm sure he will pardon Trump, so the guy won't face any consequences beyond pretty much what he has. If the economy does get bad enough then Democrats will probably get enough votes to overcome any Republican obstacles.
Yeah, I hope we don't suffer too much. Obviously, we don't give a crap about democracy or the rule of law as a nation. But, that being the case, I would prefer not to be completely miserable in our newly minted fascist America.

I think you'll find that the political rhetoric spewed recently was just fluff and that you'll live like you did from 2016 to 2020 sans a pandemic hopefully.
Myth is misused by the powerful to subjugate the masses all too often.

If the DNC doesn’t do some soul searching we will be suffering with extreme conservatives for a long time.
The DNC should do some soul searching?

What, to find their authoritarian sensibilities? To start using obvious BS as a tool? To run the worst campaign in history and just rely on the stupidity of Americans?

Yeah, maybe.

A Republican presidency, senate, house, and Supreme Court.

There is no greater failure that the DNC could have accomplished.

The failure is the American people's, and they are about to get what they asked for.

It’s basic economics. It’s not enough to open a coffee shop across from a Starbucks and call people stupid for not choosing your shop. You have to actually create a compelling product.

Kamala was not compelling. Being “not Trump” was not enough.

Some promising points from Trump’s acceptance speech:

“I’ll never have another rally again.” He at least acknowledges that this is his last term.

He isn’t saying anything new. The second Trump presidency is likely to be the same as the first.

Some concerning points:

Positioning Elon as a rising political star. Essentially younger clone that can easily continue the MAGA cult for decades.

That's the problem. Being not Trump should be enough. A damned addled goat would have been a better choice.

You're never going to convince me this is a Democrat problem and not an American electorate problem. Americans are damned stupid. Full stop.

That’s just the definition of insanity. Repeating the same losing strategy over and over that doesn’t work.

This isn’t an intractable problem. They can recapture the magic of 2008, they just need a compelling candidate. Obama is not the only charismatic Democrat. And they might even have to be ok going with a candidate who is male and white.

The winning strategy seems to be to appeal to morons. I understand why the DNC is having a hard time with that. They don't have a spokesperson who whines like a toddler.

Tell me, you think the GOP has a winning strategy (rather than just lying about everything and relying on the right wing media machine)? And if so, why does it work on the American electorate?

Sorry man, but Americans just elected a known felon, a serial rapist, and a complete damned moron. Don't pretend this is about strategy. This is about ubiquitous American ignorance.
