I live my life with someone I disagree with politically. I've never once seen fit to lay into him though I will admit I've been tempted. But it's not worth damaging relationships because there is far more to him than what he thinks about whatever candidate and he's free to think it.
I really admire that in you. I remember when Trump lost in 2020 and rather than gloat, you were concerned about Jersey Boy's feelings. I sat thinking about good people I know in the Church that vote Democrat. I still disagree with them. But I don't think the only way forward is civil war anymore. I'd like to see all the political prisoners freed and all the lawfare cases against Trump dismissed. The people who conducted the lawfare need to be thrown out and things need to be reformed such that the weaponization of the justice department against conservatives never happens again. I may even sponsor a few Latino people who have patiently waited their turn and sought to come to American legally. I'm actually all for merit based legal immigration. But this is not a time for gloating. This is not a time for vengeance. We'd do well to follow the example of Abraham Lincoln when he let the south off easy as he truly sought to bind up and heal the nations wounds. Whatever anguish you're feeling right now Jersey Girl, I promise you that it will pass. Your local elections seem to have went well in Colorado and local elections effect your life more than national elections. God knows your heart and your faith will get you through.
Hello ajax. I saw this well, I don't know when I saw this post but I had to be logged out since I've had you on ignore like forever. Trying to start from the top down of your post to reply.
I'm not someone who gloats. Rejoice? Sure. Gloat, no. Gloating would take some quality that I apparently don't have. Something that elevates me...I don't think or believe that way at all.
I disagree with you on what you are calling lawfare but I don't claim to know everything.
ajax, I assure you that anguish isn't something I feel nor would I invest in regarding an election. So far as I am concerned, we're hiring a person for a job. I had my "say" via my vote. Others chose differently. In my view, politics is a game. I'm not interested in game playing. I did so hope that I would live to see the first woman elected president. That's my one true disappointment.
I think America has made a significant mistake but I'm not going to lose sleep over it nor am I going to spend my future heartbeats to follow what Trump is doing or saying.
I haven't seen the results here in Colorado. I voted straight Democrat this time, voted in favor of women's right to health care, and I forget what else at the moment. Bunch of judges I don't care about.
I'll tell you one thing for sure. I'm pulling out my Federal Civil Service retirement lump sum payment asap. Pragmatic move on my part.
So thanks for your kind words. I don't need consoling or reassurance. I need it to stop snowing here (snowing through Friday) and a postage stamp!
