TOMORROW: Nationwide Protest No Buy Day

In my opinion, this would be much more effective if it were done on the final days of a quarter end. That way it would impact quarterly statements. As it’s done currently, whatever people forego buying today will just be bought in the following 31 days, and quarter earnings statements that get issued to investors will ultimately be unchanged. If you did it at the end of a quarter (and it was big enough), it’d get investor attention as it’d show up on the corporate earnings investor call.

As an aside, and somewhat related, consumer confidence has dropped seven points. That’s the largest monthly decline since August of 2021. Average 12-month inflation expectations surged too.

With the cost of eggs right now, it's incredibly extreme. If you're going to throw something, at least use something that's relatively inexpensive to buy, like maybe a Republican politician.

Reminder if you're interested. Here's a protest almost anyone can do. You may have heard about this...it's tomorrow. The idea is to faciliate a nationwide 24 hour economic black out.

Is there a list of recommended companies?

Not exactly but I found this article that does list some retailers and also explains the protest far better than the first article that I posted. I doubt this will be the last protest of it's kind.

Confession: I'm a weak willed hypocrite. I went over to Target to pick up an order placed a couple of days ago and on my way to the pick up...I went through the cosmetics department. I bought a bottle of new nail polish. Don't judge me. It was Essie and they had the exact shade of brown that I needed wanted. At least credit me for my ability to be honest about my own failure.

If there is another Nationwide No Buy day I promise that I won't:

1. Go into a store that has cosmetics.
2. Go into a craft store.
3. Go into a furniture store.
4. Go into any kind of store at all not even a gas station.

I will pony up a good protest attitude and do my darn bit over here.

yep, it doesn't really hurt to do but it takes a dedicated change to have an effect

in canada the BABA movement (buy anything but american) is having an effect because its people actually changing habits and switching to entirely new products/canceling american vacations and it seems its being noticed. border towns are already feeling in and vacation destinations are starting to worry
