By openly dismissing a foundational constitutional protection, President Trump has directly betrayed his oath of office, outlined clearly in Article II, Section 1 of the Constitution: to "preserve, protect, and defend the Constitution of the United States." The President’s role explicitly requires upholding constitutional principles, not disregarding or circumventing them for expediency or political convenience.
This violation is not merely a policy disagreement or partisan conflict; it is an intentional breach of the fundamental constitutional obligations entrusted to the Presidency. Trump's statement represents an unprecedented threat to the rule of law and undermines the very structure of American democracy. Allowing a President to openly reject constitutional rights sets a dangerous precedent that weakens the foundation of American constitutional governance.
Given the gravity and clarity of this breach, the Constitution itself provides a remedy: removal from office through impeachment. President Trump's explicit rejection of due process rights demonstrates unequivocally that he is unwilling or unable to uphold the Constitution. I and others explained a long time ago that mass deportations are unrealistic. If Hitler couldn't successfully do it, a country with rule of law certainly won't do any better, even if the rule of law is significantly violated. The flag of origin may not want their emigrants back. So where do you put them? Problem number one for Hitler -- finding a place to accept millions of people.
With a base dumber than 2-parameter chatbots and a record percentage of sociopathic sycophants as leaders, he has or had, it's hard to say, two roads before him with the loophole he has been getting away with. One is to grease the wheels both internally and externally. Don't make identity mistakes and correct any forthright. Bribe the destination rather than threaten them along with 50% tariffs for the hell of it. If you have a way around the courts, then exploit it without raising eyebrows for as long as possible.
The path taken was the exact opposite. Make a huge show out of it. Send loosely identified people directly to a foreign prison indefinitely. Then go on TV with the leader and talk up sending US citizens there, with the obvious subtext of greasing the way to send political enemies there. All the while, social media erupts with conservative Christians calling for deporting Democrats to the same said prisons. Even one of our own posters strongly implied another one of our posters, a natural born citizen, might face this kind of a consequence for not falling in line. So what do you think is going to happen eventually? There is that small chance the coup will work, but the odds are still in the favor of the momentum democracy has.
Being objective about the whole thing, there is one sense in which the show is effective. As a deterrent. The fear of detention centers slowed down border crossings for other presidents, and that same threat plus the threat of foreign prisons will certainly be effective this time with both self-removal and border crossing. But it's a temporary thing. The US is already the world leader in prisons and even outsourcing to El Salvador and letting them "rip us off" as subcontractors costs money and will stall out. The best option the US has is to continue with the tariff plan, break the country into a third world sweatshop, and then not as many people will want to come here.

It's guaranteed to citizens, not illegal immigrants. But please go ahead and run on a campaign platform of socking it to the taxpayer and raising the debt so that all 30 million would be illegal immigrants are released into the country and provided with a free attorney, welfare, etc. while they await their court date rather than refusing to allow them to set one foot on US soil. Then see if the voters embrace a party who stands with MS13 gang bangers as opposed to the American people who have been terrorized and had their country invaded by them.guaranteed to every individual within U.S. jurisdiction by both the Fifth and Fourteenth Amendments.

Reading lesson: the use of person and any person in these two amendments applies to non-citizens, unless otherwise specified. Ergo, everyone is entitled to due process. Everyone is covered by equal protection.
