The auto pen issue is merely a symptom of how our politics have been controlled by the donor class for many, many years. But, who cares about that when Hitler is in control of the White House or the Trans army is coming to take over our red states.
I suspect that more folks than you might imagine are fully aware of the reality of your first statement, but that doesn’t mean that fallout related to the second statement doesn’t need to be dealt with.
The second is why the first works. When the population is busy pointing guns at each other those running things get away with their ever increasing upwards transfer of wealth.

We agree on this more than you may suspect. This is precisely the problem that I was pointing out to Markk.

It seems otherwise with the obsession some have with the current president to the point of irrationality and how some seem to be merely regurgitating democratic party talking points, but great. I've said it many times and will say it again. It's a problem with both parties as we've seen with the outrageous pentagon budgets and other graft.

I believe that it would be quite hard to argue that Trump is not a special and extreme case, occupying both parts of ‘the problem’, as a billionaire dependent upon the donor class and their lifestyles, while playing a part-time politician fully vested in divisiveness, grift, provocation and bomb-throwing. As such, folks will react to that behavior.

Read his social media posts and consider his past history. There’s been no comparable example that I can think of from the last century.

He's definitely not a politician and is all over the board. He's crass and says the quiet part out loud. But authenticity is what people like, however misguided it may be. He is also not part of the club. However, he is all about him. Recently, his family made a deal to develop a golf course in Vietnam and his position clearly was a major factor in the deal. Even so, and I know this is probably too early because Trump needs to be discounted here, however, Clinton made some questionable moves with her foundation and Biden Big Guy was a thing.

They all are corrupt. That's why I'm not going crazy over Trump being how he is.

He is a narcist and can be a jerk, but he has been fairly consistent.

Edit...it took me a bit to find it but it is to your point about them being all corrupt.

Joe Biden's net worth according to Forbes is around 10 million. Ten million doesn't equate to even the daily fluctuation in "value" of one of Trump's many scams. Not to mention golf course deals as noted for Vietnam aren't just little grease-the-wheel bribes, they are in response to Trump threating 46% tariffs, which could crush their entire economy. Dr. E. never provided solid evidence that Joe was a big International Mob boss, I put more effort in to trying to sort out his sources than he did. I didn't see much. But even if it's all true, it's a bunch of nothing in its totality compared to any given day for the present administration. Degree does matter, going 130 over the speed limit in a school zone is different than going 10 over the limit.
We can't take farmers and take all their people and send them back because they don't have maybe what they're supposed to have. They get rid of some of the people who have been there for 25 years and they work great and then you throw them out and they're replaced by criminals.

It's a lot of circumstantial evidence that won't be pursued. The laptop showed his "big guy" prowess and pardoning everyone and their dog for potential crimes should raise eyebrows. Anyway, now it's Trump's turn to raid the treasury and so why prosecute when it'll just raise too many questions about how the rest are getting shived.

Admiration of open grift, corruption, fraud, lying and divisiveness in the name of ‘authenticity’ is something that I’ll leave for others to grope about for.
