Public Service Announcement!
This announcement is intended to resolve an apparent issue that seems to be causing trouble for one poster.
Anyone who wants to engage with another poster is, of course, perfectly free to. This applies even to people who have expressed a reluctance to do so, or who - like me - have indicated their preference, when practical, for indirect engagement.
If a poster sees engagement as a form of constant trolling - as they've made quite clear - they should remember that, as long as the rules are followed they can control only their own behaviour, not that of others. This is a discussion board, after all.
It's almost OCD, in some folks' opinions, to constantly complain about others engaging with one's comments. One could just stop interacting. Problem solved.
Not so easy? For some, apparently!
Interesting. I actually agree with this, at least in part. Of course, obviously, I'm seeing things through a different lens than you and some others might be...as shown in my remarks in a rather long post on the SS Presidency Handbook thread.
I won't repeat them here. We've been discouraged to do so.
Except to repeat that I do believe there are some symptoms of OCD behavior being exhibited by those trolls that I am describing.
The point is that MG is in a "motes & beams" situation. He'd apparently like to control what others do, but seems unwilling to apply the same "rules" to himself.

If you look at and read my post on the SS Presidency Handbook thread you will see that, at least from my point of view, there are trolls that are difficult if not impossible to control on a basically free wheeling board such as this. It's just gonna happen.
And you end up with the silly memes, name calling, etc.
The "rules" for them are not the same rules I'm following in regards to the various kinds of trolling they exhibit and have explicitly named.
I'm under no illusion that I can control what trolls do. The proof is in the pudding.
Other attributes/characteristics of the type of troll I’ve talked about on the SS Presidency handbook thread are:
Algorithmic Gaming- pushing their comments to the top to bury a post they would rather not have seen.
Psychological Wearing- using words such as “clearly” and “absolutely “ and the like, act as triggers to influence others to your own way of thinking and overwhelm the ‘mark’.
Circle jerking- my guess is that many here know what that is and some have participated in it.
I would encourage the moderators to consider whether certain members of this board have created a pattern of Brigading with the intent of targeting certain posters.

I'll leave the more salacious replies to others. I'd just like to know if you consider that practice to be immoral and gross, and if you thus intend this "guess" to be an extreme insult. Man, I was a bit surprised to see you go there. Is this your "new normal"?

Apparently I do need to say more:
Circle jerking: group of people who pat each other on the back and obsessively agree with one another while excluding or mocking outside opinions. It’s the digital equivalent of a "mutual admiration society."
